Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum in MIT is well-structured and relevant to the industry, as it focuses on foundational skills in engineering and technology along with emerging topics, which influenced my choice of program. It provides a great preparation for the real-world application of skills, along with a perfect balance between theoretical and practical components aligned well with industry demands and postgraduate studies. However, more flexibility in electives across disciplines and hands-on practical projects would help enhance the curriculum. Periodic examinations are conducted at intervals throughout each semester. There are midterms and finals. The degree of difficulty for each varies. Students will have to maintain constant studying but can handle them when prepared well.

Placement Experience

4

Campus recruitments are available here at MIT, starting from the 7th semester for the students. In addition, top companies visit the campus every year in huge numbers. Some of the well-known ones include Amazon and Microsoft, Google and Deloitte, which work quite well in generating some great offers under engineering and technical portfolios, as well as a large number of emerging startups. Even the highest packages go up to 50-60 LPA for specific roles in special tech and R&D. And the average is roughly between 8-10 LPA for a typical role that includes software engineering or data science positions. MIT prepares its students very well for jobs, with a placement rate over 85%. After my degree, I look forward to getting into software engineering and leveraging the excellent placement network and industry connections established here.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fees ~INR 4.5 lakhs with minor annual increments, usually 5-10% Approximately around INR 20 lakhs for the entire four-year course, although this can increase a bit with inflationary adjustments every year. Merit-Cum-Need Scholarships: This is open to academically brilliant and needy students only. A percentage of tuition based on family income and academic performance.

Campus Life

4

As usual, the campus life at MIT is vibrant and well-balanced, having a special zest for academics as well as extracurricular. Annual events like Revels (that cultural festival in March), TechTatva(the technical fest in October), and loads more are eagerly waited by youngsters from various colleges, therefore quite lively on campus. It offers an extensive library of various books, journals, and digital resources that can be accessed by students all around the year to ensure rich support for academic and research work. Classrooms have all modern technology with a projector and Wi-Fi; all these facilities enhance learning and the overall experience of teaching and learning. Sports facilities consist of fields for cricket and football, basketball courts, as well as a gym that will help students keep their body fit and well balanced. Student-operated clubs and social bodies comprise the Robotics Club, Debating Society, and other active clubs such as Music & Fine Arts Club. These are essentials forming a culture at MIT where avenue for personal discovery, leadership development and for life-long friendships with diverse individuals are available in general.

Hostel Facilities

5

In general, the hostel facilities provided by MIT are very clean and conveniently comfortable to stay in. Rooms contain most of the basic furniture; that includes a bed, study table, chair, and wardrobe. Some rooms have attached bathrooms. Others also offer Wi-Fi and laundry, as well as areas for studying, making the entire experience both perfect for academics and socially enriching. The quality of meals at the hostels is okay. There is a change of menu every week, comprising North and South Indian items, to accommodate different tastes. Registration for hostel rooms is simple but quite competitive as the rooms are filled quickly; the cost is not so high relative to the facilities. For students who choose to rent off-campus, there are some options close to the campus, but the rental costs vary widely depending on location and amenities.

Admission

I have applied to some of the best engineering colleges in India. I have got confirmations from VIT Vellore and Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT). Amongst the two, I liked MIT because they provide good industry exposure, and the infrastructure is fantastic along with a very well-balanced curriculum that not only covers the core concepts but also the modern trends with respect to technology. High cutoffs at DTU with my score just below the cutoff restricted my options, and the crowded class size at VIT influenced me to look for a more personalized learning environment at MIT. The admission process in MIT was quite straightforward as they had the MET (Manipal Entrance Test) as their preferred entrance exam. Having a score above the cutoffs ensured that I got my seat in my chosen program. Eligibility criteria consisted of passing 12th with required subjects; my process of admission was also rather smooth, as there was proper guidance and prompt communication by the admissions team, which made MIT a pretty strong candidate for my engineering education based on the kind of well-rounded development the institute focused on, ranging from co-curricular activities to placements.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:15, which is pretty comfortable, allowing students to receive personalized attention. The professors are usually approachable, and some faculty members are very supportive, even guiding students beyond the syllabus, especially in project work and career advice. Notable faculty members such as, for example, are known for their captivating teaching style and depth of knowledge, making complex topics easier to understand. However, the quality of teaching varies; some lecturers are more inclined to conventional lectures. On the whole, the MIT faculty student interaction is friendly, where there is much more mentoring interaction between mentors and students.

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
