Course Curriculum Overview

the syllabus was quite comprehensive of my course. they teach you to think like a historian, they open your minds the real world applications depend upon the course too but they don't teach you much that goes beyond your classroom really anywhere in india some of the professors should learan how to give lectures and learn to use words and punctuations better. attendance shouldn't be mandatory the exams happen when the temp is either frezing lor or schorching high so yeah, they suck

Fees and Financial Aid

If You are looking for admissions in DU, here's my take on it with more focus on Lady Shri Ram College for Women. *Fees for history hons. is 20490 per year and there r various freeships and scholarships offered here. * one of the best things about lsr is its location. delhi can be crowded and dirty and if u come from a tier 2 city or even a tier 1 city like pune, which are planned and clean you would be disgusted and a little chocked by this city. but if you go for south campus colleges you'll be lucky to avoid iut as much as possible because they are located in prime locations with wide streets and less crowd. north campus colleges are all in the same locality so it could be fun being there and making friends but the crowd and cleanliness of south campus. for me atleast, prevailed. speaking of crowd, it is a very hyped fact that du is diverse so much so it has become it;s brand and i would like to say, yes it is true that DU is diverse but not enough to be trademarked for it. in fact most people here come from the northern states of Bihar, UP, Haryana, MP and Rajasthan and some from north east and maybe a few from south india unless ofc if it's st. stephen's one is talking about. i would say that if u desire a career in civil services, south campus college like LSR is perfect for you because of it's upsc atmosphere but if you want to look for jobs in private sector or entrepreneurship, DU should be your last option. The top colleges of DUare also good if you want to excel in fields of liberal arts as a profession but other than that there are zilch placements provided from college to you except maybe srcc. The faculty is quite good in the top colleges. the professors are friendly and mostly good, except for a few that are excellent. in my experience, no professor has come across as overbearing and most are eager to help. the most redeeming quality of LSR or any top DU college is the competition. i found that it fosters growth and development

Campus Life

so the diwali mela happens before diwali holidays called noor in which they have stalls and other stuff. the real fest is tarang that happens usually in march which is the best of the best that exists the library is diverse and has a wide range of books and journals yeah the facilities are good too maybe not as good as private colleges as amity or flames but still quite good and the environs are pretty too. sports are not taken as seriosly although we've had some top athletes like manu bhakar from here. the societies are vibrant and functioning and so much fun to join and contribute in.

Admission

i didn't apply anywhere else and i chose it because i am a upsc aspirant no, i didn't get any rejections. you have to pass 12th from a recognised board. give cuet. fill in the du registration. after the cuet results, make your allocation list and get a college allocated by paying your first year fee

Faculty

the faculty to student ratio isn't quite good. it's one teacher to 70 students the history faculty is amazing. the seniors are amazing and the professors. almost all of the faculties are good in the top colleges i m not sure of any faculties that r not good the exmas are upto mark. they are quite challenging but repetitive. but students don't fail in top colleges but thats because the students and professors both are good there. the course is very relevant. they teach you to think here which rarely happens in india

Night Life

open gym, a mediocre but cheap cafetaria and other nescafe and mother dairy outlets exist inside the campus. the hostel isn't quite good and the campus is open until 6pm the famous hangout place inside college is in front of nescafe where they usually organize dance performances and other things. the locality is relatively safe

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
