Course Curriculum Overview

4

I have always been interested in sociology from the beginning and it was my top choice and I'm glad that i got this course. Leaning sociology makes me understand society better and learning different concept and theories really help a lot for viewing society from a different perspective. Ig University can adopt Digital teaching methods more. Also the frequency and timings of exams are pretty much well structured and difficulty level totally depends on have you have prepared.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yearly tuition fee for my course is ?14,000. This fee has remained relatively stable over the past few years and rarely increases, making it financially manageable for students. The total cost for the complete duration of the course, which spans three years, amounts to approximately ?42,000.

Campus Life

The name of our college fest is ULLAS, and it was a legit event we enjoyed a lot, many artist come to our college and we definitely enojoy it a lot and our dance society also performed My favorite part in the college is definitely library after dance room, such a huge library with many books of same courses. Technology can be advanced by using smart boards. Extra curricular activities are favoured in the college like dance music and sports i really love it Societies might affect your academic life depending on the type of society likewise I'm in dance society, also fashion and choreo or drama society can affect it a bit, but if you are a good student we can make it easily like i got 8 cgpa in my first sem

Admission

I applied to this college because of the course preferences it was on of the top colleges for the course i selected. I had applied to many other colleges as well such as hindu, miranda house, venky but i got admitted into rhe college at first attempt only so i locked in for my college. Admission process is ig through CUET after 12th and cuet marks depend on which college we'll get, we have to select college and course in the form.

Faculty

4

The faculty at Delhi University for Sociology Honours is generally well-qualified, with many holding PhDs and having active research publications. Faculty members are usually approachable, especially during tutorials, and they often encourage students to discuss academic interests, ask questions, and engage in critical thinking. On the other hand, there are a few faculty members whose teaching methods felt outdated or overly theoretical without practical relevance. Some tend to rely heavily on dictated notes, which can limit open discussion or critical engagement. While they are knowledgeable, the lack of engagement can make their classes feel monotonous. The B.A. (Hons.) Sociology program is divided into six semesters across three years. Each semester includes a mix of core papers, discipline-specific electives, and ability enhancement courses. The curriculum is diverse, covering classical sociological theory, Indian sociological thought, research methodology, gender studies, economic sociology, and more. Overall, the curriculum is quite relevant, with a good balance between theoretical foundations and contemporary issues. However, it could benefit from more fieldwork components and updated case studies. Examination System and Marking Scheme: Each semester includes internal assessments (worth 25 marks) and an end-semester examination (worth 75 marks), totaling 100 marks per paper.

The BA English Honours curriculum at DU SOL is relevant and provides a strong foundation in literature and language. The course covers diverse topics that support academic learning and critical thinking. The flexible structure is suitable for distance-learning students. Adding more practical activities, updated study materials, and interactive learning opportunities could further improve the overall course experience.

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
