College Events

The biggest event is Tsunami - a BMS event. It has celebs and BMS students from prestigious colleges participating. The sponsorship also roll-in pretty easily for this fest. The other festival was Shishir for junior college students. If not eminent colleges, there were students from pretty decent colleges participating in it. Hinduja College also celebrates its festival - Aina at our college since they don't have an auditorium. The BMM students keep conducting poster, ad and other events - both conclave and competitive ones.

Campus Life

Campus is one of the best - huge canteen, spacious library, IT rooms on each floor, huge auditorium, green rooms, foyer, conference room, seminar room, a great view to boast about (only 3 colleges in Mumbai are sea-facing), the famous Raju bhai sandwich, great parking area with a drop right outside the college gate, a promenade across the road. And terrace with a sprawling view of the city. Racecourse next door and great connectivity. Students from all communities and economic backgrounds despite it being a sindhi college.

Entrance Preview

I had not took any entrance test because at that time for M.Tech did siidhi vinayak group of colleges not took any test for admission process i was encouraged to took admission in siddhi vinayak group of colleges because of, Placement Opportunity and was offered to me based on my Marks in Graduation, Admission process is so easy and handled in very friendly way.

Exam Structure

Its a autonomous college so exam structure is decided by college bodies itself. But I never feel free during exams. If exams are there only thing that can save you is your study. I mean you have to study to score that only options. During exams day you will miss college life it were hectic days.

Placement Experience

There is not much scope in this field, but yes in science branch or technical courses there are some company or mnc came to hier students. Likely Maruti Suzuki, tcs were came to place students for salary like 3 lac to 8 lac pa.its depends upon students merit to be placed. But still I would like to say college must be insure students that almost students placed from every branch in their respective field.

Admission

Entrance test conducted by college for particular courses, before you need to eligible for this criteria.firstly notification release by print media regarding admissions with eligibility criteria from which we thought we are eligible for entire courses. Then we have to receive form for respective courses from counter to fill it up, after that exam conducted where we have to qualify to take admissions.

Andhra University has conducted separate entrance test for the integrated dual degree program, namely AUEET. I got 120 rank in the entrance test. I have completed my degree in ECE in AUCE[A]. This course through this test has special opportunity that, one could do his/her B.E and Mtech with in 5 years duration. So I opted for this program. There is lot of scope and opportunities for a graduate from this University.

College Events

There are many events took place during my presence in the campus. Events Marie-Time Exhibition is exhibited in the campus grounds during international fleet review. PM Narendra Modi ji has visited the campus during IFR-Visag. During same occasion many of the foreign naval heads has visited the grounds. Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee is around 1.7 lack per semester for UF programs. It may be slightly on the higher side for students but the infrastructure and quality of education justifies the fees. A total of around 3.5 lacks per annum is spent on the fee by every student. fee increment is not more than 10 percent every year.

Faculty

In every department section full details of faculty is provided. Most of the faculty members have PhD from IIT or abroad. Thus the quality of faculty is at par with new IITs and better than many NITs. being a private institute they have lot of freedom as well and a good atmosphere is created.

Campus Life

If you are looking for world class facilities and the ability to use them, you have come to the right place. VIT has very good lab facilities and students are encouraged to use them as much as they can for projects (there's a caveat here which i'll get to later) and other non-curricular activities. VIT is increasingly orienting itself to a more research focused college with CoE's and other interesting lab facilities coming up all over campus. There's also a conscious shift of focus from purely academic subjects to more research based learning. The experiment is in its initial stages and may yet fail, but its a step in the right direction. For all this shift of focus however, the majority of the faculty in VIT is mediocre at best. The professors know laughably little about the subjects they teach. More often than not, they refer books of foreign authors and teach the same concepts to students verbatim. If a student can parrot out the same stuff in the exams, full credit is awarded. There isn't much scope for learning. There are some faculty who are truly amazing, but its a select few and you'd be lucky to have any interaction with them in 4 years. Another thing that is wrong with the academic system is the incredible frequency of examinations in VIT. Quiz 1,2,3 CAT 1,2 and TEE in just a six month (or less) time frame is a bit too much. VIT needs to drop an exam or two to increase learning and reduce rote teaching. Students need to have more time to focus on the subject rather than just the exams. The FFCS system is a double edged sword. Its very good and quite efficiently managed, considering the sheer number of students that it serves. On the flipside, if you happen to have a bad time slot in your lottery, you're basically screwed. The system is meant to be used when the teacher student ratio is decently balanced and there are sufficient courses on offer for all. This is far from being remotely true in VIT and this is why FFCS fails miserably for a number of students every year. Coming to the non-academic aspects of VIT life. The hostel facilities are pretty great all things considered and even the mess food isn't as bad as it is in many other colleges in the country. There is room for improvement, of course, but all the messes serve palatable, good quality food in hygienic conditions which is a pretty good deal. Student life in VIT is probably the worst that can be encountered in college campuses throughout the country. A huge proportion of the administration's time and energy is wasted in concocting ludicrous and plainly outrageous rules for the student community. I won't waste time listing them all out, but there is a massive list of these. There is a huge suppression of student expression and freedom in general in campus. With patrolling by guards as if it were a high security prison, limited areas for students to just sit and relax with friends and severely limited places to even stand after dark, VIT campus is probably the worst in terms of student friendliness. There is a whole posse of guards with whistles whose job description is too shoo people away from places and generally provoke angry reactions. There is also the all pervasive fear of reprisals from management. The guards and any other persons are quite quick to grab and snatch (quite literally in some cases) ID cards from students and then threaten them with consequences and action. is turning into a morbid police state with little respect for individual privacy or freedom of any kind. The management has a medieval and parochial mindset which it seeks to enforce on a student body of 20000 which is extremely diverse. Moral policing and enforcement of "Values" is more important to them than keeping out of students' private lives and letting kids make their own choices. Gender inequality is the norm in Girls are regularly and constantly discriminated against in all aspects of college life from hostel curfews to excursions outside campus and on and on it goes. Girls have an extremely restrictive and policed environment which does not teach them any independence at all. It only makes them more and more dependent on the system for each and every need that they have. I cannot stress this enough: NEVER SEND A GIRL STUDENT TO THIS UNIVERSITY. There is another major aspect that is going to cause a rapid decline in everything in The massive numbers of students that it takes in every year. The batch size alone is causing the teacher-student ratio to plummet and diluting everything far more than is good. I have not described all aspects and categories mentioned in the question above, but i feel i have covered the most important areas of university life in In sum, its not worth it. Edit: Adding my (brief) answer(s) on placements Karan Gupta's answer to How were the placements uring 2014? Karan Gupta's answer to Is it possible forB.Tech graduates to get non technical jobs during the campus placeme

Fee Structure And Facilities

What fee structure of college (undergraduate course) will be considered as expensive in India? for example, a college has fees of 6 lacs per year (does not include accomodation) . Will this college be considered as expensive or not ? 1 ANSWER Anonymous Anonymous Written May 4, 2016 Expensive or not will vary greatly from one family to another. I will take my family and my very close friend's as an example. My family's annual income is about 21L INR. My father took a loan this year to buy an apartment and he took a loan two years back to buy a car. Annual payments to the repayment of both the loans amount to a total of 8.4L (approximately). That leaves 12.6L out of which if we deduct 6L as college fee and additional 1.6L as accommodation and every other college expense, the family is left with 4L per year for everything else (food, electricity, petrol, gas, clothes, entertainment etc). Apart from that we have total savings of about 13L. I believe that 6L per year without accommodation is a borderline expensive college for us, we can afford that college but will like to have some cheaper and equally good alternatives.

Exam Structure

Engineering is the semester system. Bi yearly exams were conducted and within that internal exams got conducted. Labs & classes used to happen on time, everything was scheduled very professionally. College was very academically sound, would say that students have not got the practical exposure at that point of time

Campus Life

Females were very less, in a batch strength of 30 students females were hardly 9. Most of the students were from Rajasthan itself but few were from different states like UP, Delhi & Bihar etc. Favoritism was happened to the students belonging to some community but nothing much on a bigger scale.

Fees and Financial Aid

SBI opens stalls during the time of admission at both Goa & Hyderabad campuses. Since Pilani campus has branches of 3-4 banks inside the campus, they would probably be having better facilities. It is easy to avail loan to study at any of the campuses of BITS. Your father/mother would most probably have to act as guarantor. Although I don't exactly remember what I was asked to do, it would be useful if they could bring papers of whatever they intend to use as a guarantee. Having SBI account would be useful in case you are availing loan from SBI, otherwise, they would provide you a proforma for verification from nearest branch of the bank you intend to use to avail the loan.

Faculty

Research is an integral and important part of any higher education system. BITS Pilani actively promotes research among its staff and students. In addition to basic research, which is the backbone of any applied research, the Institute also gives adequate importance and support to applied research. Research at BITS relies on the motivated intellectual manpower pool available among its staff and students. Students undertake research projects as a component of their education program itself. Teachers conduct research as an integral part of their responsibilities since this enables them to assimilate and disseminate the knowledge as well as generate new knowledge.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June,2016 at Convention Centre, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. The program was coordinated by Prof. Narayan Prasad with the support of the Committee constituted by Vice Chancellor for this purpose. Prof. Prasad in his lecture on the Yoga: Philosophy and its various applications explained the concept, Philosophy, the dimensions and various Applications of Yoga. The children of the IGNOU campus illustrated the various postures of Yoga under the guidance of Ms. Nirmala, Yoga Teacher. Yogacharya Shri Sudhir Kumar Jain, Chief Guest in his speech focused on Yoga Practice in Daily Life and demonstrated various Asanas which can be practiced to relieve stress, anxiety, anger, long sitting problems, diabetes, frozen shoulder, backache, and spondylitis etc.

Remarks

At personal level, after doing graduation from IGNOU my life has changed for the better. Studying for 3 years with IGNOU I found the following merits and demerits: MERITS: the course is very flexible and caters to the needs of a student. The fee is nominal. Study material is of best quality. Helpful staff at IGNOU study centres. DEMIRTS: 1. In absence of consensus the classes dont take place and a classroom atmosphere is missed. (this happened in my course…!!!) 2. In Correspondence courses there is a lack of mentorship and dearth of guidance for the future of the student. CONCLUSION: IGNOU provides one of the best platforms in the country to fulfill the desire of education of an individual. More improvisation on technical courses can definitely help the students.

Remarks

Overall the college management It good but there is only one problem that we don't get the admit card until we pay the next semester fee. They should have a common sense that why would we leave the college after 5 or 6 semesters and we have paid the fee for that particular semester so we should be given admit card on time. It was the best experience in my entire life.It taught me so much and I'll remember it in my entire life.

Admission

I just went to the college and filled the forms. Then I filled my credentials in that form i.e all my scores and then met the administrator and I got the admission as my credentials are perfect for the course that I opted for.Now I am the Pershing BTech It from my college and I am scoring well in that.I am very happy that I opted for CEC landran.

Students who are enrolled in a program should be fully aware of the expectations of the program. Are program outcomes aligned on the syllabus so that students are aware of not only what course objectives they are required to meet, but also how the program outcomes are supported? Do students and other stakeholders participate in the review of outcomes, criteria, or related activities? Many outside accreditors also require communicating program outcomes to other relevant parties, including the community, business partners, and advisory councils. Assessment documents should clearly communicate what is being done with the data results and how it is contributing to the improvement of the program and curriculum.

Campus Life

Did you say campus, there isn't actually a pre-defined campus, its in the middle of a residential society and open from all side with no defined boundary except the main gate. The Rajiv Gandhi group of institution comprises of almost 5-6 colleges. And all their colleges are put in the same place.TO my surprise their dental college it one of the top colleges in India and also have international students(especially from the Arabic country, don't know why) So if you talk about activities withing one institute there aren't many but all the RG colleges put together makes it a happening place.

Course Curriculum Overview

As far as the course is concerned they run strictly according to VTU, which is one of the best universities in south India. The course is well defined according to the branch. But the curriculum hardly runs accordingly. They do not provide the course material from their own, either you need to borrow from the library or buy it from the bookstore or get it xeroxed.

Exam Structure

To begin with the first year was very chilled out. Almost 4 hrs of lectures plus 3 hrs of early afternoon practicals happened. So on and all we had a busy 6 day college week and this somewhat continued in the second year too. Only difference here was instead of three there were two subjects, Chemistry and Microbiology. Lectures extended by an hour and so did practicals. The actual hectic schedule started in the Third year wherein we had to spend almost 4 hours in practicals and were practically living in the Microbiology lab but I still honestly miss those days and if given a chance, would like to again go back and do my Bachelors once again.

Admission

It was quite easy. The form was available at the office counter and easily got it. Filled it the very same day and waited for the list. My name got through the list almost about a week later. Initially had kept an option of either Biotechnology or Microbiology as a choice. Later my marks were not at par for the requirement and got to Microbiology. Majors picked up were Chemistry, Botany and Microbiology. Admission process was pretty smooth. We had initially been interviewed by the HOD of the department, Vice principal of the section and the senior teachers. Post their approval, the admission was granted and college started in a month's time.

In MAH-CET, non maharastrian candidates has 15% reservation in college seats. After getting your score in MAH-MCA-CET you need to fill an online form on http://www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in website and give your preference of college from 1 to 10. I gave SIMCA as my second preference and i got it because of my good score. After this directorate of technical education, Maharashtra allocates you college based on your score. Once you got final result of selection process and received the name of college, you have to submit your documents and specified fees in college till a specified date.

Placement Experience

Below is the list of companies visited in 2009. Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Satyam, Tech Mahindra, Syntel, Hexaware, Cisco etc. Average package offered was: 4-5 lakhs per annum. They invite companies based on their merit system. Once a candidate is selected in one company, they don't allow that candidate to sit in any other companies so that other student who has not placed yet got a fair chance.

Exam Structure

Exams are held in a semester manner. Frequent tests were ofcourse taken depending on the Course and the Teacher. They did make life difficult and hectic in the first year, given the summer placement pressure. However, year 2 onwards, life becomes simpler and depending on how many electives you pick, you can choose how hectic (and fruitful) you make your life.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, Summer placements are the biggest event in the first year, and from day one everyone is focussed on preparing for it. This college have kind of become job factories in that sense. I got an investment banking internship. Generally stipends tend to be good - but it varies depending on the company itself.
