Langara College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Langara sits among Canada’s public universities in Canada that accept Indian Class 12 credentials directly, with a 60% minimum grade equivalency per the official Langara International Equivalents page.
Langara College Postgraduate (Post-Degree Diploma) Requirements
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with 50% or CGPA 5.0/10 (recommended); nursing PDDs require a valid Registered Nurse credential
- English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no band below 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 20, Speaking 20), or Duolingo English Test 110, or PTE Academic 56 (no skill below 55)
- Credential verification: WES-attested transcripts for Indian bachelor’s degrees
- Application fee: C$ 150 (₹ 10,425)
Langara College Undergraduate Requirements for Indian Applicants
- Academic: India Secondary School Certificate (10+2) with minimum 60% in Class 12 (per official Langara equivalency)
- English proficiency: Category 3 minimum for most programmes: TOEFL iBT 80 (Writing 20, Reading 20, Listening 18, Speaking 18), IELTS 6.5, DET 110, PTE 56
- Programme prerequisites: Nursing and computer studies require Class 12 subject prerequisites (biology, chemistry, mathematics)
Key insight: Indian applicants who completed four continuous years of English-medium schooling automatically satisfy Langara’s Category 3 English requirement and can skip IELTS/TOEFL entirely under the language-of-instruction waiver.
Langara College Acceptance Rate 2027
Langara College reports an acceptance rate of 85% (estimated) across international undergraduate applications, placing it in the accessible band of Canadian public post-secondary institutions rather than the highly selective research-university tier.
The rate reflects programme-level admission decisions across the college as a whole; selective Post-Degree Diplomas such as Data Analytics and Nursing Practice in Canada operate under lower effective acceptance because of capped seats and prerequisite screens. Langara does not publish an official annual acceptance-rate table.
Reality check: An 85% headline rate is not a guarantee of admission. Indian applicants who miss the 60% Class 12 grade equivalency or the English proficiency Category 3 minimums are declined regardless of overall selectivity.
Langara College Fees and Cost of Living for Indian Students 2027
Total annual cost for an Indian student at Langara falls between C$ 39,000 and C$ 52,000 (₹ 27.1 to 36.1 lakh), combining tuition, mandatory student fees, and Vancouver living expenses.

Langara College vs Peer Universities
The peer set below draws from British Columbia public colleges plus one Ontario alternative that Indian applicants commonly compare Langara against on cost, PGWP eligibility, and transfer pathways.
| Institution | Collegedunia Study Abroad Global Rank 2026 | Average Annual International Fee | One-Line Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Langara College | #689 | C$ 16,714 to 22,071 (₹ 11.6 to 15.3 lakh) | Vancouver location plus strong PDD portfolio |
| Humber College (Toronto) | #660 | C$ 17,000 to 22,000 (estimated) (₹ 11.8 to 15.3 lakh) | Larger Ontario campus, direct pathway to universities in Toronto |
| Douglas College | #707 | C$ 18,000 to 20,000 (estimated) (₹ 12.5 to 13.9 lakh) | Larger New Westminster campus with more UG seats |
| British Columbia Institute of Technology | #712 | C$ 18,000 to 25,000 (estimated) (₹ 12.5 to 17.4 lakh) | Applied technology and trades focus |
| Capilano University | #719 | C$ 18,000 to 22,000 (estimated) (₹ 12.5 to 15.3 lakh) | Four-year bachelor’s specialisation |
| Kwantlen Polytechnic University | #742 | C$ 18,000 to 21,000 (estimated) (₹ 12.5 to 14.6 lakh) | Multi-campus applied polytechnic across Metro Vancouver |
Langara stands out on Vancouver location combined with the reduced Post-Degree Diploma per-credit rate, which lands total cost roughly 10 to 15% below comparable BC peers. Its Data Analytics and Web and Mobile App Design PDDs are Langara-specific portfolios not directly replicated at Douglas or Capilano.
Langara College suits Indian graduates who hold a bachelor’s degree and want a compact 16-to-24 month Canadian credential in Vancouver with a Post-Graduation Work Permit at the end. Total two-year investment of ₹ 40 to 50 lakh (tuition plus living) is recovered within two to three years at the C$ 52,072 to 72,065 graduate salary band.
Langara is not the right fit for applicants aiming at a research-heavy master’s degree, a globally ranked institutional brand, or a PhD pipeline. Those goals point toward the University of British Columbia or Simon Fraser University in the same city, both of which appear in QS World rankings and offer full postgraduate research streams.
Langara College FAQs
Ques. Does Langara College require GRE or GMAT for Post-Degree Diplomas?
Ans. No. Langara Post-Degree Diplomas evaluate applicants on the completed bachelor’s degree, English proficiency, and any programme-specific prerequisites. Neither GRE nor GMAT is required for Data Analytics, Business Administration, Accounting, or Marketing PDDs. Indian applicants save approximately ₹ 20,000 to ₹ 25,000 in test costs and about six weeks of preparation time by skipping these tests entirely.
Ques. How many hours can Indian students work part-time at Langara?
Ans. Under IRCC’s updated rule (November 2024), full-time international students at Langara may work up to 24 hours per week off-campus during regular academic terms and full-time during scheduled breaks. On-campus work hours are uncapped. A Social Insurance Number (SIN) is required and must be applied for after the study permit is issued at a Service Canada office in Vancouver.
Ques. What is the application fee at Langara College for Indian applicants?
Ans. The international application fee at Langara is C$ 150 (approximately ₹ 10,425). This fee is non-refundable and paid at the time of online application through EducationPlannerBC. Langara also requires a non-refundable international deposit of C$ 6,000 for Spring 2027 or earlier intakes and C$ 9,000 for Summer 2027 onwards, which applies toward first-semester tuition.
Ques. Can Indian students at Langara qualify for a three-year PGWP?
Ans. Yes, if enrolled in an eligible programme. Bachelor’s degree graduates from Langara and Post-Degree Diploma graduates in fields aligned with IRCC’s long-term shortage occupation list (updated 2024) qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit valid up to three years. Two-year diplomas and shorter certificates receive PGWPs matching programme length, subject to the 2024 field-of-study eligibility list.
Ques. Is WES credential evaluation required for Indian applicants at Langara College?
Ans. Langara accepts World Education Services (WES) course-by-course evaluations for Indian bachelor’s degrees applying to Post-Degree Diploma programmes. Undergraduate applicants submitting Class 12 marksheets can send original transcripts through their Indian board (CBSE, ICSE, State Board) without mandatory WES. Post-Degree Diploma applicants should begin the WES process at least eight weeks before the application deadline.
Ques. What financial proof do Indian students need for a Vancouver study permit?
Ans. IRCC requires proof of at least C$ 20,635 per year for living expenses (updated 2024) in addition to first-year tuition and travel costs. For Langara, that means Indian applicants should show approximately C$ 40,000 to 45,000 (₹ 27.8 to 31.3 lakh) in bank statements, GIC, or an education loan sanction letter from a recognised Indian lender when submitting the study permit application.
Ques. Are dependent visas allowed for Langara College students from India?
Ans. Under IRCC’s 2024 restriction, spousal open work permits are limited to spouses of international students enrolled in master’s, doctoral, or specific professional programmes. Langara’s diploma, associate, and PDD students no longer qualify for a spousal open work permit. Bachelor’s degree spouses may qualify only if the programme is 16 months or longer; dependent children can accompany on visitor status.
Ques. What happens if an Indian applicant does not meet Langara English requirements?
Ans. Applicants who fall short of IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 88 can enrol in the Langara English for Academic Preparation (LEAP) programme, a five-level intensive pathway. Completion of LEAP Level 8 satisfies Category 3 English admission requirements without an IELTS retake. LEAP tuition runs approximately C$ 5,650 (₹ 3.93 lakh) per level and typically adds one to two semesters before regular studies begin.

- Registration Process was not appealing in my case. As the college had limited seats for some courses for which many students had to defer to next semester which wasted a lot of their time and efforts .
- The Admin team takes a lot of time to reply and give updates on application status which is very frustrating.
- So many students didn’t receive any reply or update from the Langara admin team about their application status. It just showed Docs Received for months and after that nothing was updated.
Overview
Location was one of the main reasons for me to choose Langara as it is the heart of Vancouver which is a mix of nature and downtown providing you ample opportunities to explore. The campus is well connected with transit and it is accessible to reach other places faster. It has students across the globe making it a great place to connect and explore new cultures under one roof. Langara college to me was a home away from home. The diverse campus in Langara gave me an amazing opportunity to make friends across the globe. It made me more adaptive, confident than I was before. My overall experience at Langara was a roller coaster ride full of adventure, fun and lots of learning.
Campus Life
The campus has modern facilities and technology required today. There are computer labs, student rooms, library and group study rooms in the library which students can book to prepare for group presentations.
Overview
One of the best colleges in metro Vancouver in terms of infrastructure, curriculum, and faculty. More than 20000 students were enrolled in college back in the day. Experience was good i got lot of lessons experiences memories. College life is good and enjoyed too. The college is good in terms of infrastructure. Events and all. Overall I would say it was good. None, nothing was required to get into college. They didn't ask for any kind of SoP, LoRs, or CV. I got enrolled in 2020. Back in the day process was really smooth to get into langara.
Campus Life
When it comes to infra structure building T is the science department, which was constructed recently, and the college has cafes, restaurants and a lot of sitting areas. For extracurriculars college has a basketball court, playground and big hall with a seating capacity of almost 2500 for convocations and big events.

- Main Vancouver location, short classes, plenty of time to work.
Overview
I would rate this as one of the best experience. It was difficult as hell, due to financial problems, home sickness. But after all I became a very confident individual with lots of experiences and friends.
Campus Life
Pretty advanced. They have Smart boards, computers, MACs etc. if you take a photography course you are provided with dslr.

- Because of its high reputation and prestige. Moreover, it also has its root top colleges and universities in abroad.
Overview
My overall experience is that here study is not that tough but assignments are a whole different thing. It requires time , focus and may also result in plagiarism if not paid attention.
Campus Life
Campus life is good along with various activities which are not compulsory for everyone.

- I was looking for a 2 year Data Analytics program from a good college as most universities had only 1 year program and very expensive. Langara is a reputable college in Vancouver and has one of the most affordable fees.
- The faculty of the college are very good and helpful. There are lot of volunteer options to take part in the college. For new international students there is a counselling department to help them with home sick and cope up with the new learning style. The fee is quite affordable when compared with other colleges.
Dislikes
- There should have been an in-campus accommodation considering the amount of international students in the college, college provides options for PG but it’s quite expensive and the seats fill out quite fast.
Overview
To be honest it’s difficult to come to a new country and settle in but still I find the college to be very welcoming to international students they are always there if you need any help personally or academically.
Campus Life
There are always some or the other events happening at the campus and lots of clubs right from sports club, religious clubs and environmental clubs too. Langara has lot of diversity so every country has their own club and their religious festivals are also celebrated inside campus which helps you know the diversity of every culture. Wifi is available throughout the campus, Library is huge with 3 floors and there are specific spots where its very silent and if you’re a person who likes to study in a silent place that's the place for you.

- Even if it is a college, the rules and regulations and atmosphere were equal to a university. Great professors, Great teaching, Lab facilities and variety of courses that a person can dream of and join. Affordable tuition fee for students especially international students.
- My program is Diploma in Arts and Sciences Health Sciences, I chose this course because I’m a great fan of science and I’m very much interested in medical field. So if I graduate in this course in future I can opt any other course related to science like psychology and so on.
Overview
My overall experience in my college was excellent. The professors were awesome and everyone students will become friends with small span of time. There are different buildings for different courses such as science in different building, Business and IT and so on. Overall it was astonishing experience.

- It was the only one that had a data program with 2 year program.
- My college experience was very enriching and rewarding. I learned not only the core concepts of my field, but also the skills and competencies needed to succeed in the job market. The professors were very knowledgeable and helpful.
- The college administration was very efficient and responsive. I could easily contact any department, such as IT or academic affairs, and get prompt assistance.
Dislikes
- The program I attended was not very helpful in terms of providing us with connections for job opportunities. I felt that they could have done more to support us in finding suitable employers.
- Another issue I saw was the overcrowding of some Programs. It was difficult for some students to register for the courses, and sometimes they had to waitlist for a long time or take courses from other colleges. This is stressful and inconvenient, especially since students had to maintain a minimum of 9 credits per semester to keep their student status in Canada and work part-time.
Overview
I learned a lot from Langara college. It really helps students in terms of overall development of an individual. But it is a little lacking in terms of job opportunities.
Campus Life
Students wouldn't have any issues with the campus infrastructure . It is very good. Just that it might be little over-crowded sometimes.

- The faculty members are supportive and are always ready to help. They have a defined structure of the course and believe more in practical concepts than theoretical. Every semester has group projects and even individual projects.
Dislikes
- I personally liked everything during my time. There are activities in every semester and deadlines are always tight which might be good for some and not for others. The classes could even end at 10 at night.
Overview
It was good, I have provided all the required details which could answer this question in above questions.
Campus Life
There are lots of clubs to join and the best part is library. There is cafeteria too which is kept clean.

- I had my mind to get in a well known college in Vancouver and Langara was the best option.
Overview
The college is good but the structure of picking up courses is quite bad many students lack behind time due to their work and are sometimes unable to register courses.
Campus Life
Campus is also quite good known for its camps clubs and games Many times we have some activities which students can learn and also play.

- Initially, it becomes difficult for every student to cooperate with any institutions matters. But eventually one becomes familiar. Getting admission into my college is really fun as one experiences a lot of extracurricular activities, sometimes a far college student. Also get chair massages for free during exams, so as to ease the tension. We also get health and dental benefits.
Overview
I chose this university because it offers entrance to only those students with 85 percentile and above. Moreover, the marking criteria of this college is a very tough pants. It prepares the student for further competitive exams. There are many extracurricular activities a student can do.
Campus Life
Our college provides a lot of extracurricular activities. There are many clubs and even gymnasium inside. Every festival is celebrated along with many games. We also have restaurants inside our college like Starbucks, Tim Hortons subway.
