What is ATMA 2027?
ATMA stands for AIMS Test for Management Admissions. It is a national-level management entrance exam conducted by AIMS — the Association of Indian Management Schools. AIMS is a not-for-profit body that represents management institutions across India and has been running ATMA since 1997.
The exam is designed to assess candidates for admission to MBA, PGDM, MMS, MCA, PGDBA, and similar postgraduate management programmes. More than 600 AIMS-affiliated management institutes across India accept ATMA scores, making it one of the most widely accepted management entrance exams in the country alongside CAT, MAT, and XAT.
What sets ATMA apart is the multi-session format. The exam is held four to five times a year — typically in February, May, July, and August. If you are not satisfied with your score in one session, you can attempt the next one. This format is especially useful for working professionals or students who miss one window due to other commitments.
ATMA is a computer-based test (CBT) with 180 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 180 minutes. The paper has three skill areas — analytical reasoning, verbal skills, and quantitative skills — each tested across two separate 30-question sections. Around 40,000 to 50,000 candidates register for ATMA every year across all sessions.

ATMA 2027 Exam Pattern
The ATMA 2027 exam pattern has remained consistent across all sessions for several years. It is a computer-based test with 180 multiple-choice questions split across six sections. Understanding the pattern well helps you plan your time and attempt strategy on exam day.
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Exam Mode | Computer Based Test (CBT) |
| Total Duration | 180 minutes (3 hours) |
| Number of Sections | 6 |
| Questions per Section | 30 |
| Total Questions | 180 |
| Total Marks | 180 |
| Question Type | Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) |
| Marks per Correct Answer | +1 |
| Negative Marking | –0.25 per wrong answer |
| Time per Section | 30 minutes |
| Language | English |
Section-Wise Question Distribution
ATMA covers three skill areas, each tested across two separate sections. You cannot carry over unused time from one section to the next — each section has its own 30-minute window.
| Section | Skill Area Tested | Questions | Marks | Time Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Section 1 | Analytical Reasoning Skills | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Section 2 | Verbal Skills | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Section 3 | Quantitative Skills | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Section 4 | Verbal Skills | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Section 5 | Analytical Reasoning Skills | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Section 6 | Quantitative Skills | 30 | 30 | 30 minutes |
| Total | — | 180 | 180 | 180 minutes |
Each skill area accounts for 60 marks — Analytical Reasoning (Sections 1+5), Verbal Skills (Sections 2+4), and Quantitative Skills (Sections 3+6). There is no sectional cutoff in ATMA. Your final score is out of 180, and AIMS converts it to a normalized percentile based on all candidates in that session.
Since the test is section-timed, you need to manage your 30 minutes per section carefully. If you get stuck on a question, move on and come back to it within the same section’s time window.
ATMA 2027 Syllabus
The ATMA 2027 syllabus covers three skill areas. AIMS does not publish a detailed topic-wise official syllabus, but based on previous years’ question papers, the topics listed below are consistently tested across all sessions.
Analytical Reasoning Skills (60 Questions)
This section tests your logical thinking, pattern recognition, and ability to draw conclusions from data. It is one of the more scoring areas if you practice regularly.
- Critical Reasoning — arguments, assumptions, conclusions, inferences
- Coding-Decoding — letter-based and number-based codes
- Syllogisms — Venn diagram-based logical deductions
- Data Sufficiency — two-statement problems requiring logical analysis
- Arrangements — linear seating and circular arrangement puzzles
- Blood Relations — family tree and relationship-based problems
- Venn Diagrams — set theory-based questions
- Complex Puzzles — multi-condition logic puzzles
- Data Interpretation — tables, bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs
- Number and Letter Series — finding patterns in sequences
Verbal Skills (60 Questions)
This section tests your English language proficiency, reading speed, and comprehension. Since it contributes 60 out of 180 marks, strong verbal preparation directly improves your overall percentile.
- Reading Comprehension — 4–5 RC passages with inference, fact, and tone questions
- Grammar and Usage — sentence correction, error spotting
- Vocabulary — antonyms, synonyms, analogy, fill in the blanks with words
- Sentence Completion — choosing the most appropriate word or phrase
- Para Jumbles — rearranging shuffled sentences into a logical paragraph
- Idioms and Phrases — meaning and usage-based questions
- Critical Reasoning (Verbal) — strengthening and weakening arguments in English passages
Quantitative Skills (60 Questions)
The quantitative section tests your numerical ability and problem-solving skills. The difficulty level is moderate — Class 10–12 Maths level is enough as a foundation.
- Arithmetic — percentages, profit and loss, time and work, time and distance, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, mixtures and alligation
- Algebra — linear and quadratic equations, inequalities
- Geometry and Mensuration — triangles, circles, area, perimeter, surface area and volume
- Number System — HCF, LCM, divisibility rules, remainders
- Permutation and Combination
- Probability
- Statistics — mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation
- Data Interpretation — calculation-based DI sets from tables and charts
The same syllabus applies to all four sessions of ATMA 2027. If you prepare for the February session, your preparation is equally valid for the May, July, or August sessions.
ATMA 2027 Admit Card
The ATMA 2027 admit card (also called the hall ticket) will be available for download on the official website atmaaims.com a few days before each session’s exam. You must carry a printed copy to the exam centre — entry is not permitted without the admit card.
When Will ATMA 2027 Admit Card Be Released?
AIMS typically releases the admit card 3–5 days before the exam. For the February 2027 session, the admit card is expected around 17–18 February 2027 — similar to the pattern in 2026, when the admit card was released approximately 4 days before the exam. Official dates will be confirmed by AIMS on the website once registration for that session closes.

You must carry a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, or voter ID) along with the ATMA admit card. No candidate will be allowed into the exam hall without both documents.
ATMA 2027 Result and Scorecard
ATMA 2027 results will be declared separately for each session, typically within 5–7 days of the exam date. AIMS publishes the section-wise score, skill-area scores, and a normalized overall percentile on the official website. There is no physical scorecard sent by post.
When Will ATMA 2027 Results Be Declared?
Based on the 2026 pattern, results come out quickly after each session. The February 2026 result was declared on February 28, 2026 — six days after the exam on February 22. The August 2026 result came on August 12, 2026 — just three days after the August 9 exam. For 2027, results for the February session are expected around 28 February 2027, and subsequent session results will follow a similar quick turnaround.
What the ATMA Scorecard Shows
The ATMA scorecard has three levels of score information:
- Section-wise raw scores — your marks in each of the six individual sections out of 30
- Skill-area scores — your combined score in each of the three skill areas (Verbal, Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative) out of 60 each
- Overall normalized percentile — your standing relative to all candidates who appeared in that same session
Colleges use the overall percentile for shortlisting. Since ATMA is held in multiple sessions, most colleges accept scores from any session within the same 2027 cycle and consider your best attempt.
How to Download the ATMA 2027 Scorecard
- Visit atmaaims.com after the result is declared for your session
- Log in with your PID and password
- Go to the Result / Scorecard section
- Download and save your scorecard in PDF format
ATMA 2027 Score vs Percentile
ATMA uses a normalized percentile to compare candidates across different sessions, since the difficulty level may vary slightly between the February, May, July, and August sessions. Your raw score out of 180 is converted into a percentile that shows what percentage of candidates in that session scored below you.
The table below gives an approximate score-to-percentile mapping based on previous ATMA sessions. These figures are estimates — the actual conversion changes with each session’s difficulty level and the overall candidate performance in that window.
| Raw Score (out of 180) | Approximate Percentile | College Tier This Opens |
|---|---|---|
| 150 – 180 | 98 – 99+ percentile | Top AIMS institutes — PUMBA, WeSchool Mumbai |
| 130 – 149 | 90 – 97 percentile | Very good B-schools — IBA Bangalore, PSG Coimbatore |
| 110 – 129 | 80 – 89 percentile | Good institutes — Christ University, VIT Vellore |
| 90 – 109 | 65 – 79 percentile | Mid-tier institutes — IPE Hyderabad, SCMS Cochin |
| 70 – 89 | 50 – 64 percentile | Tier-2 institutes — JIMS Rohini, Jaipuria |
| Below 70 | Below 50 percentile | Limited options; consider re-attempting next session |
Note: Score vs percentile figures above are indicative estimates based on 2026 trends. Actual percentiles vary by session difficulty and the pool of candidates. Check each college’s official cutoff announcement after ATMA 2027 results are declared.
ATMA 2027 Cutoff
AIMS does not set a universal qualifying cutoff for ATMA 2027. Each college that accepts ATMA scores independently sets its own minimum percentile for shortlisting candidates to the next round (GD, PI, or WAT). The cutoff you need depends entirely on which college you are targeting.
The table below shows the expected ATMA 2027 cutoff for some well-known colleges based on 2026 trends. Final cutoffs for 2027 will be declared by each college individually after ATMA 2027 results are out.

The full and updated list of AIMS-affiliated colleges accepting ATMA 2027 scores is available at atmaaims.com. You should check this list before filling the registration form so you can select the right colleges at the time of registration itself.
After your result is out, you will need to apply to each college separately and appear for their individual selection rounds (GD, PI, WAT). ATMA score submission does not automatically apply you to a college — that step requires a direct application to the institute.
ATMA 2027 Admission Process
There is no centralized counselling for ATMA. Unlike JEE or NEET which have a common counselling process, ATMA admissions work independently — each college that accepts ATMA scores runs its own selection process. After the result is out, you apply to colleges of your choice and go through their rounds.
Step-by-Step Admission Process After ATMA 2027 Result
- Step 1 — Get your ATMA 2027 scorecard: Download your scorecard from atmaaims.com after the result for your session is declared. Use your best percentile if you appeared in multiple sessions.
- Step 2 — Research and shortlist target colleges: Based on your percentile, identify the colleges where your score meets the expected cutoff. Check each college’s website for their specific ATMA cutoff and application deadline.
- Step 3 — Apply to each college individually: Submit your application to each college with your ATMA scorecard, academic documents, and application fee. Each college has its own application portal and deadline.
- Step 4 — Appear for shortlisting rounds: Colleges will call shortlisted candidates for Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and in some cases a Written Ability Test (WAT). The format varies by college — some have only PI, some have GD+PI, and some add WAT.
- Step 5 — Merit list and offer letter: Colleges prepare a final merit list based on a composite score that includes your ATMA percentile, GD and PI performance, WAT score (if any), academic record, and work experience. If selected, you get an offer letter with a fee payment deadline.
- Step 6 — Accept the offer and pay fees: Pay the admission fee within the deadline to confirm your seat. Missing the deadline usually results in the seat being offered to the next candidate on the waitlist.
How Colleges Use ATMA Scores for Selection
Most colleges weight the ATMA percentile at 30–50% of the final selection score. The rest comes from GD, PI, WAT, academics, and work experience. This means a strong GD/PI can make up for a slightly lower ATMA score, and vice versa.
Some colleges also conduct multiple rounds of admission — they send out offers in waves as earlier selected candidates confirm or decline. Keep checking the college portal if you are on a waitlist.
ATMA Score Validity
The ATMA score is typically valid for the academic cycle in which it is taken. Most colleges accept scores from any of the four 2027 sessions (February, May, July, August). A few colleges may also accept scores from the previous year’s cycle — confirm this with each institute individually.
Note: AIMS declares results for each session separately. You can use your best ATMA 2027 score from any session when applying to colleges. There is no restriction on which session’s score you use.
Preparation Tips for ATMA 2027
ATMA 2027 covers three skill areas across six sections. With 3–4 months of focused preparation, you can score well and target strong percentiles for good B-schools. Here are section-wise tips and a general strategy.
Analytical Reasoning Skills
Analytical Reasoning appears in two sections of ATMA (60 questions total). It is one of the more scoring areas if you get your basics right and build speed through practice.
- Practice seating arrangements and blood relation questions daily — these are high-frequency and high-scoring topics in ATMA.
- For Data Interpretation, focus on speed calculations. Learn to read bar graphs and pie charts quickly and estimate values rather than computing exact answers every time.
- For critical reasoning, practise identifying conclusions and assumptions from short argument passages — these appear regularly.
- Work through syllogism problems using Venn diagrams. Drawing them out removes confusion and makes the logic visible.
Verbal Skills
Verbal skills also cover two sections (60 questions). Strong reading habits and vocabulary building are the two most effective things you can do here.
- Read English newspapers or business magazines for 30–45 minutes daily. This builds both vocabulary and reading speed, which directly helps with RC and para-jumble questions.
- Practice at least 2 RC passages daily in the last 6 weeks before the exam. Focus on understanding the author’s main point, tone, and inference questions — not just stated facts.
- For grammar and sentence correction, learn the commonly confused word pairs and focus on subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and modifier errors.
- For para jumbles, identify the opening sentence first (usually the one that introduces the topic without reference to a prior idea), then find the closing sentence. This helps eliminate 2–3 wrong options quickly.
Quantitative Skills
The Quantitative sections test you at a moderate difficulty level — solid Class 10–12 Maths is enough. You do not need advanced calculus or higher-level maths.
- Start with percentages, profit and loss, and time-speed-distance — these are the most frequently tested arithmetic topics in ATMA and they also feed into DI sets.
- Learn 2–3 shortcut methods for each arithmetic topic. Speed is the main challenge in a 30-minute section window.
- Revise all standard geometry formulas — triangles, circles, area and volume — and practice applying them with numbers so you do not lose time recalling formulas during the exam.
- Do 10–15 DI questions from tables and graphs daily in the month before the exam to build speed and accuracy.
Overall Strategy and Mock Test Plan
- Take a diagnostic test first: Before starting your preparation, take one full-length mock to find your weak areas. Allocate the most study time to your weakest skill area.
- Practice section-wise under time pressure: Since each ATMA section has a 30-minute cap, practice solving 30 questions in 30 minutes for each section type regularly.
- Two mock tests per week in the final month: In the last 4–6 weeks before the exam, give at least 2 full-length mocks per week under real exam conditions — no interruptions, no extra time.
- Review every mock thoroughly: After each mock, spend 30–45 minutes going through the questions you got wrong. Understand the concept or method you missed — not just the correct answer.
- Manage negative marking: With –0.25 per wrong answer, avoid random guessing. If you can eliminate 2 options and are down to 2 choices, it is usually worth attempting. If you have no idea, skip the question.
