CMAT Eligibility Criteria 2019: Qualification, Age, Nationality

CMAT Eligibility Criteria 2019: AICTE will be announcing CMAT eligibility with the disclosure of information brochure. The eligibility for Common Management Admission Test is the minimum criteria to apply to MBA/PGDM across AICTE-approved colleges in India. A candidate must have compulsorily completed or been in final semester/year of bachelor’s degree of minimum of 3 years. 

CMAT Registration will begin on November 1, 2018. Candidates who pass the below-mentioned eligibility criteria will qualify to appear in CMAT 2019, scheduled for January 28. Read on to know more about CMAT eligibility criteria, reservation conditions and other such details.

Course-Wise CMAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

CMAT eligibility criteria for admission to the PGDM/MBA, PGCM and Executive PGDM programs will be as per the criteria defined by the individual University/Institution. The program-wise eligibility criteria for CMAT 2019 is listed below:

CMAT Eligibility Criteria 2019 for PGDM/ MBA 

  • Candidates should have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum duration of 3 years.
  • Candidate must also have secured at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of applicants belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination.

CMAT Eligibility Criteria 2019 for PGCM

  • Candidate must have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree related to the programme with a minimum duration of 3 years.

CMAT Eligibility Criteria 2019 for Executive PGDM

  • Candidate must have a recognized Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum duration of 3 years.
  • Candidate must have secured at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of applicants belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination.
  • Candidate must also have a minimum experience of 5 years (relevant managerial/ supervisory experience).

CMAT Reservation 2019

  • All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), which conducts CMATdoes not provide any information or disclosure on the reservation of seats for various categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC).
  • There is also no official announcement made by AICTE on the reservation of seats for CMAT 2019 for Physically Handicapped (PH) category, Kashmiri Migrant (KM) category, the girl child category and Defence Persons category.
  • Every participating institute has different guidelines according to category and the directions of their corresponding State Government.
  • The reservation of seats or allocation of seats under these categories also depends whether the participating institutions in that particular state is a Private unaided Institute or a Government-financed institute.
  • The reservation of seats for OBC candidates through CMAT 2019 will also depend on creamy and non-creamy layer, whichever category the OBC candidate falls into.
  • There are provisions for horizontal reservations of Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates, Defence Persons category candidates and the girl child category candidates which again vary from institute to institute. The priority of the candidates in horizontal reservation also varies.

Hence, the reservation of seats in the management programme through CMAT 2019 will be done on the basis of the prevalent statutory provisions of the State Government under which the particular participating institute lies.

Documents for CMAT 2019 Reservation

For seeking the benefits of CMAT 2019 reservation under Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Physically Handicapped (PH), Kashmiri Migrant (KM), the girl child category and Defence Persons category, through CMAT 2019, the candidate must submit the required certificates and documents:

  • Caste certificate
  • Dependent Certificate
  • Income Certificate
  • Proformas etc., whichever applicable, according to the guidelines of the particular college/ institute.

Without sufficient documentary proof, no candidate will be given any benefits of reservation of seats through CMAT 2019.

Category once indicated by the candidate at the time of submitting CMAT 2019 Application form, along with documentary proof, will not be changed afterwards in any case. Hence, the candidate must read and understand the conditions of reservation of seats carefully before applying.

CMAT Registration 2019

Candidates who meet CMAT Registration can fill the online application form. The registration process will begin in October and will end in December. The process of applying for CMAT 2019 comprises 3 steps namely registration, payment of fees and filling up the application form.

CMAT Eligibility Criteria FAQs

Ques. What are the eligibility conditions for a scribe/reader defined by AICTE?

Ans. The candidate must fulfil the following conditions to be eligible for a scribe:

  1. Is not a family member or a friend.
  2. Is not involved in any academic tutoring or preparation for the test to be administered.
  3. Has not completed 19 years of age as of January 20, 2019
  4. Educational qualification must be lower than that of the CMAT applicant.

Note: The age certificate/DOB certificate of Scribe has to be presented at the CMAT Test Centre

Ques. Can I appear for CMAT just for the purpose of practice, though I am aware that I am not eligible for the exam?

Ans. No. Only candidates who meet the CMAT eligibility criteria can appear for the test.

Ques. Who is eligible to take the test under the PWD category?

Ans. Candidate suffering from any of the listed disabilities, to the extent of not less than 40% as certified by a medical authority, will be considered under PWD category. Following are the categories defined by AICTE for PWD candidates:

  1. Visually impaired
  2. Physically handicapped
  3. Hearing Impairment
  4. Dumb

Ques. If I have completed my graduation through part time or distance learning mode, am I eligible to appear for CMAT exam?

Ans. Yes; as long as it is approved by respective statutory bodies.

any reservation for obc creamy layer?

Hello Deepak, Candidates from OBC Creamy Layer are not eligible for Reservation.
