Class 10 Science Chapter 7 Control and Coordination – Important Topics

Control and coordination are carried out by the nervous system in the human body which contains three types of nerves:

  • Cranial
  • Spiral
  • Visceral

Chemical control and coordination taking place with the help of endocrine systems helps to regulate all the systems of the body to ensure proper coordination as well as efficient functioning of an organism. A human body is connected through these nerves as they run throughout the body and help in sending and receiving messages. They help in controlling and coordinating our actions based on the environment.

Brian: Brain is the control centre of the nervous system. The brain is highly protected by the skull. The brain is protected by three membranes known as cranial meninges. The three parts of brain are Forebrain, Midbrain and Hindbrain.

Neurons: The structural and functional unit of the nervous system is the neuron. A neuron is a microscopic structure that consists of three major components: the cell body, dendrites, and axon.

Sense organs: Touch, vision, hearing, smell, and taste are the five most vital senses in the human body. These sensory receptors can be found in the skin, mucous membranes, connective tissues, and muscles, among other places.
