NIT Kurukshetra, B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering

Reviewed on Jan 12, 2020

Remarks

The college has good infrastructure. The campus is all green. Fully AC classrooms. But the faculty is not good here and also there is restriction on the girls that they should be in their respective hostels before 8:30 pm

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum is mostly like other engineering colleges. Exam structure is more or less the same as other engineering colleges that is two mid semester exams and one end semester exam for each subject along with the practical exams

Placement Experience

3.5

Yes nit kkr provide internship and the companies provide a good stipend to the students. Placements are quite good and the average package differs from branch to branch. Currently many big companies like flipkart , Goldman Sachs etc have visited and hired students for the internship

College Events

4.5

Nit kkr have several clubs and societies which conduct their own events in several fests. Biggest fest of the college is confluence. Some main events of confluence are Roadies, Treasure hunt, Sherlock, Mathematica , Contraption, Junkyard War, etc and many other online events

Fee Structure And Facilities

I think the fees structure here is feasible. The concession is given on the basis of income certificate. The fees is quite high as compared to other government colleges but quite cheap as compared to other private colleges

Fees and Financial Aid

The scholarship awards an amount of Rs. 2400/- per student per year. The scholarship is provided for the students to pursue B.Tech Degree courses at the NIT Kurukshetra. For first year students the scholarships are awarded based on marks secured in the first semester examination.

Campus Life

The college has several fest like technical fest cultural fest and sports meet. Sport is quite good here. The college has teams for several games like volleyball basketball badminton table tennis cricket etc

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are quite helpful here. Every year there is a alumni meet in which alumni share their experiences and struggle. This motivates the student and this keeps him going. Alumni network is quite strong

Admission

I got admission on the basis of my JEE rank. The institute takes its admission through JOSAA. All the seats are available for allocation in the first round. After the first round the students have four options Freeze, Float,Slide and Reject. Reject: means you don't get that seat and are removed from the further rounds Freeze: You are satisfied with your allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds. Float: You accepted the seat but if possible you want a seat of ypur higher preference. Slide: You accept the seat but you want to go for upgradation in branch within the same institute

Faculty

2.5

I would say that this college has an average faculty. Some profs are good but some are not that qualified as a teaching professor. Also mechanical engineering professors are the worst of all. I will rate it 5 out of 10

Good Campus, Good Learning and Overall Experience

Likes

Good campus with a lot of greenery and a peaceful environment for students.
Teachers are mostly supportive and actical classes are helpful for understanding the subjects.
Good labs, library and sports facilities with many activities happening on campus.

Dislikes

Some administrative work takes more time than expected and can be a little confusing.
Hostel and mess facilities can be improved, especially in terms of food variety and quality
Sometimes the workload and attendance requirements feel a little stressful for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the course curriculum is quite relevant and covers the important basics of Biotechnology. We get both theory and practical classes which helps in understanding the subjects better. Exams are usually moderate. I think more industry based projects and practical exposure can make the course even better. Overall, I am satisfied with the curriculum.

Best affordable quality college for middle-class

Likes

Good and well-spaced campus of the college.
Good placements with high salary packages at reputed companies.
Good, affordable college for engineering, suitable for middle-class students.

Dislikes

Poor WiFi connection at times, when too many people use WiFi at the same time.
Generator works till 11pm only at normal days.
Hostel food needs improvement, lack of quality chefs.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements after 6th semester. Numerous reputed companies offer placements, to name a few, these are HCL, Tata Consultancy Services(TCS), Wipro, Infosys, L & T, JCB, airtel, JIO, etc. The highest package to date is 27 lakhs per annum and the average package is about 6 lakhs per annum. About more than 85% of students get placed in good companies with a satisfactory package, however, good skills are required for a much higher package. I'll work hard to get a good package at a reputed company.

NIT KURUKSHETRA: An Honest Review

The key reason for my choice of NIT KKR college was it has affordable fee structure , good campus cirriculum. Admissions are based on JEE Mains, followed by JOSAA/CSAB counselling. Candidates must have at least 75% in class 12 or be in top 20 percentile of their board. Cutoff and Seat Allocation:- General category:-For cs/it candidate rank must be in 5k-10k. Other branches require less ranking. OBC/EWS/SC/ST : Lower rank benefits due to reservation quota. There is female quota too just to increase boys:girls ratio in engineering colleges. There is state reservation of 50% in all NIT's. Admission Process:- JOSAA counselling:-Students list their prefernces based on JEE rank, and seats are allocated accordingly. Document verification:-Required documents include JEE scorecard, class 10/12th marksheet and income certificate for fee waivers. Pay intial fees and confirm your seat....Read More
