At BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus

While positivities easily overshadow and surpass the negatives, there are a few drawbacks. The administration can be regarded as more strict than other institutes. There are frequent power cuts, and the mess food isn't great either. However apart from these factors, you can expect the institute to be great.

The curriculum for entrance exam covers almost all the topics from 10+2 from Physics, Chemistry amd Maths. Since all of them are MCQs that are expected to be solved in 150 minutes, most of them are straightforward yet try to cover the concepts. Speed and accuracy are the deciding factors

The placements in IT sector are easily one of the best in the country. Being in CS easily assures you a job after 4 yrs, with the CTC being at least 15 lakh. There are 2 institute supported internship programs called Practise Schools, one after the 2nd and the other during the 4th year. Other than that, internships are also encouraged after 3rd year. Placements other than IT sector need a major revamp and push.

There's a tech fest ATMOS in October whose footfall is somewhere around 12,000. Pearl, the cultural fest, is a major fest. The highest footfall however comes during Arena, the sports fest. Being a new campus, the fest culture at Hyderabad Campus of BITS Pilani is not great.

The fees is definitely far more than other prestigious technological institutes of the nation. However, since there is no goverent subsidy, you cannot expect it to be lower given the infrastructure and facilities that it provides. Further, there are scholarships for needy students with a decent CGPA.

There is a Merit cum Need scholarship for students whose parents have income of less than 10 lakhs. There are slabs of 25%, 40% and 100% off depending on CGPA. The top 1% and 2 % get 100% and 40% off on tuition fee irrespective of income.

Labsa are great and fully equipped with all facilities and infrastructure. There is a club for every hobby one can have- photography, dance, music, reading, movie watching, journalism, quizzing and so on. There are sports teams for every sport you can count- and they are doing great.

One cannot find better seniors. The alumni network of BITS Pilani as a university is vast, the college being a half century old. The new campuses are catching up as well. There is a fresher guide program to help the first yearites get acclimatize with their new life.

There's Multiple Choice Question type question paper carrying 450 marks, 150 questions, 3 marks on correct and -1 on wrong answers, Time: 3hrs. The cutoff for various courses vary. The question paper is divided into 4 sections - Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Logic/English. In counselling one is supposed to provide one's preference and is admitted according to the cutoffs.

So far, most of the faculty members that have taught me are great. The Physics, CS, Biology, Civil and Economics faculty are im gener are not only helpful but passionate for the subject. However, research culture can be greatly improved. And as always, one is bound to encounter sour grapes.
