I took Bitsat and I scored 300 marks on Bitsat and I took admission in bits pilnai, pilani campus. I chose it over some iits, nits.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum does justice with branch you are pursuing and along with it you have freedom to take other courses that you want, be it finance or IT it is there, so there is lot of freedom in bits pilani. There are humanities electives also available. Even in your own discipline you can choose between your courses and you can do study, lab or design oriented projects as electives.
Internships Opportunities
Bits provide two internships. One after end of second year, it's a two month internship and is generally without stipend. There is one six months internship in final year in all the prestigious companies and it's a paid internship with a good stipend.
Placement Experience
Foe placement companies come to campus to recruit students. Almost everyone is placed in campus placements who sits for placement. Companies come throughout the year. Some of the companies are Oracle, Samsung, Qualcomm, Tata motors and a lot more and packages vary from 6 lpa to 30 lpa.
College Events
There are three major fests which are celebrated in bits pilani. One is sports fest BOSM, which is held in September and teams from various colleges come to pilani and play. Cultural fest oasis s is organised in October and it is among one of the best cultural fear in India and finally technical fest apogee is organised in March.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees Is expensive in bits pilani. Tuition fees is more than 1 lakh per semester and along with this there is mess fees, hostel fees and many more so bits is rather costly. There are scholarships available in bits pilani which are called merit cum need scholarship.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is merit cum need scholarship which is available which is given in the basis of marks and parents income. Merit scholarship is also there for some students who are top of their batch. Loans are available from all banks and they also give some specials discount to bits students.
Campus Life
Campus life is as best as it can get, it has everything you want from a college. Gender ratio is pretty screwed up 1:7 around but there is diversity if cultures in this college, there are students from every possible state in India and this makes this campus amazing. There is diversity but there is no discrimination.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are rather old but they are fun to live in, in starting one or two years you have two live in double room after that single room, hostel fees is around 9000 per semester. Mess food is rather decent and most of the days you can eat in your mess.
Alumni/Alumna
Bits has one of the strongest alumni network possible. You can go anywhere in any corner of bits and you can find another bitsian ready to help. They are very helpful.
Exam Structure
Exams are well distributed, there are one final exams, one mid sem exam and frequent tutorial tests. In some subjects there are few tutorial tests and in some there are many. Labs are somewhat hectic but overall it's pretty normal day we spend because you can distribute your day evenly as you have freedom to make enough own time table.
Admission
I filled the online form of bits pilani in Jan and then I choose the date of exam and timing. I gave the exam and afterwards I filled my branch preferences and once I got a branch I filled my fees and later on reported on campus. Administration was quite supportive. Everything is online so you don't have to go anywhere to get admission in bits pilani.
Faculty
Faculty in bits pilani is highly qualified and and they are very research oriented. They encourage students to of research and learn in depth of the course along with teaching they carry on their own research work. Faculty teach with help of all teaching aids and encourage students to read and write research papers and teach with respect to all further competitive exams.
