My Engineering Flight at NIT Kurukshetra

Being a public technical and research university located in Kurukshetra, the National Institute of Technology there has been accredited with the status of Institute of National Importance. Since it is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology established and administered by the Government of India, I was very much pleased to get admitted there.

I got the Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering there as my percentile was 96 in the JEE Mains entrance exam. Getting a good rank in the JEE Mains exam, I qualified for the seat in the very first round of the JoSSA counselling.

The electrical engineering course curriculum was highly interesting and helped me to learn and apply them simultaneously. The course included the electrical foundational knowledge about circuits, microprocessors, microcontrollers, logic gates, etc. to solve practical problems.

Being one of the premier technical institutes of the country, many companies involved themselves for the internship program at the college. They provided intensive projects such as Financial Performance, Risk Management, Study of Credit Risk Rating For Large Corporates, Functions of Welfare Trust, etc. These projects proved to be highly beneficial for me as they gave me industry insights.

The placement panel of the college had nice collaborations with many top companies such as GAIL, Canara Robeco, Yamaha, JCB, TATA Teleservices Limited, Indian Oil, Airtel, ICICILombard, Reliance Communications, etc. These companies visited the college to ensure campus placement of students like me.

There were several events at the college namely the Confluence Cultural Festival, Techspardha Techno Management Festival, Autokriti Workshops, ObscurA Online Events and Mega Workshops. The major fest for me was the Confluence Cultural fest which was the annual cultural fest. Many interesting activities upholded this fest and endorsed a lot of minds.

I had been admitted in the bachelor's degree course of Electrical engineering which was a four years course and cost me INR 57,000 per year. These were the basic tuition fees which I found to be very much affordable. Although there were few other activities also which cost exclusive charges, it was not a loathsome amount to pay.

The Alumni Association Scholarship offered five scholarships separately for all the different disciplines of Civil, Computer, Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering courses of the value of the Rs. 2400 per annum which was open to all regular B. Tech. students like me at the Institute. I was eligible for the scholarship as my parents' financial support was not enough for my fees clearance.

My campus life was really remarkable. I literally defined my success as I got the opportunity to involve myself into hundreds of clubs, fests, support services, academic experiences and other activities. I enhanced my knowledge there and explored my own wants, developed lifelong friendships and realised the real worth of my dreams.

Since it has been my firm belief that campus life can be so much richer when one lives within the campus accommodation, I chose the hostel at the college campus. I found a lot of friends there and did all sorts of activities which really made my college life memorable. The best part was that my room was just a few steps away from all resources like my classroom, fields, sports club and mess.

The Alumni Association of the college was the best organisation. They used to do a lot of stuff for students like me at the college. Not only they provided extra knowledge and gave industry insights, but they also provided scholarships to the aspirants there.

The faculties at the college were not only knowledgeable but were also very cooperative. Apart from teaching the concepts of electrical engineering thoroughly, they also helped me to overcome my self doubts and insecurities about making a career in the electrical domain.
