Ramjas College, B.Sc, Mathematics
Reviewed on Nov 10, 2018

Remarks

Everything good about the college except the gender ratios. The crowd of ramjas college is bad and is the reason students don't want to take admission in this college. The infra is good but the wifi of the college has not been in a working condition from the past year. If these are not the issue and you have to just enjoy your college life then ramjas college can be one of your choices.

Entrance Preview

At first i had no clue what DU or north campus mean as i had no desire to study here, i lived in jharkhand. I had no other option to fill out the DU form as i was late filling other universities form. So i looked up the google and one of my old friend who is in Hansraj college recommended me Ramjas and Hansraj college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am studying bsc mathematics (honours). If you are thinking if you ll get high-end version of 11-12th mathematics YOU ARE WRONG. The first year is easier than the 2nd and 3rd year. You'll have 4 subjects in 1st and 2nd sem . 2 core subjects i.e calculus and algebra. One GE(General elective) which can be any subject based on your choice. And the 4th one i.e., AECC(ability enhancement compulsory course) which can either be english or environmental science. All and all the course get tough with time.

Internships Opportunities

Yes. But not the college its the society that helps getting the internships. Enactus and ramjas placement cells gets regular intership news from around the area. All you have to do is get in touch with them. Some of the companies that came last year are: Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, PwC, SP Jain, ZS Associates, Towers Watson, Wipro Technologies, Right Relevance, The Oberoi Group, Axis Risk Consulting L&T Constructions, Evalueserve, DeCathalon, S&P Capital IQ, NODWIN Groups.

College Events

4.5

Different societies organise different fests of their own. There are more than 10 societies. Some of them are debating, photography , placement, enactus, women development cell etc. Enactus of ramjas in pretty famous around delhi and it attracts students from all the other colleges of Delhi university . And the fests organised by the students union is pretty huge and the attendance is high as the college playground gets filled to the last inch. Sonu nigam was the last Very famous singer to perform at ramjas. Freshers is also organised by the students union.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is pretty feasible in comparison to other du colleges. Starting for 9000 per annum to 12000 per year for differnt courses. For pwd quota, the fees is as low as rs 120 for the whole year. For science it can be around rs44k for 3 years For arts it can be 35k for 3 years. As ramjas is a govt college its pretty affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

Ramjas college does not provide any scholarship. No Ramjas college does not provide any facility for loan . For that you have to get it personally from banks.

Campus Life

3.5

The gender ratios in classrooms is not that good. For instance there are 20 girls in our class with 40 boys. In science couses there are more boys than girls. Which is opposite in arts courses. Commerce department have almost equal gender ratios. Although there are students from all over the india but in RAMJAS the number of students from HARYANA is pretty high as compared to other colleges of DU. College does not organise any parties. There are fests that are organised by the student union and the different societies of the college. There s zero tollerence to ragging in Ramjas college. All the students live and study together and its not based on the religion ,caste , sexual orientation. There's ton of extracurricular activies being carried out through oit the year. Students have competed on the highest levels in sports and ECA.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel is not the best available around the campus. Hostel seats are few and its given on the basis of your 12th marks and where you come from . There's an interview for the admission into the hostel. The food available is not that great. With the water not available everytime it gets a little tough for the students. I personally did not get the hostel. So on average my rental for a month goes from 10k to 14k which is pretty expensive as the fees for the hostel 40k for an year. The rooms available are 3 students in a room /2 students in a room and single room for 3rd year students.

Alumni/Alumna

From the year 2017 i havent seen any alumni meet or anything. I am in the ramjas basketball team and alumni of college sometimes or most of the times comes to coach us in the practice sessions. There are whatsapp group with the seniors of the department. So that if you have any problem in the college they help in no time.

Exam Structure

There are two exams that we science students have to give. One is the theory and the other is practical. In the preparatory leave we have our practical exams where external teacher from other college visits. The preparatory leave is of 15 days. And theory exams durations is not more than 18 days. So you get less days in-between exams. Exams are frequent and that could make you a bot nervous.

Admission

I came here through sports quota. There is an option when filling the application form. Those are ECA and Sports. If you've played on national and international level you can fill the form and take admission through this particular quota. At first there's sports trial for which the dates are published approx 2-3 week prior to the trial day. Based on the perforfance of Basic game knowledge and techniques students get marks accordingly. 40 marks is for certificate and 60 marks for the trials. I participated in 2016 nationals so i got 29 out of 40 and 48.3 out of 60. After that you have to go to each college and fill in the form for admission through sports. And then according to the subject and trial marks merit list are published on the college website. If you have your name on the list you are good to go else one can try in the second, third and fourth list( if seats are vacant).

Faculty

3.5

Starting with the office department. Some of them are friendly, others might make you feel uncomfortable as they are rude sometimes. But when it comes to the paperwork they do it quickly. Library staff are great to work with. They know exactly where the books are kept at. So not a problem there. My department teachers are great. I should say every department's teachers are friendly and ready to help though exceptions are always there. Highly qualified teachers are there.

Placement Experience:

Students of 6th sem are eligible for the campus selection process. Our course also have placement programs. Some companies that visit here are TCS, Wipro and few more the no of offers made depend upon the performance of student in the placement cell. The highest package as per my knowledge is 13 lakhs and the average here is 6 lakhs. Sorry for the inconvenience but I don't have any knowledge regarding the job profile given. The placement percentage changes every year depending upon the respective batch. My planning after the course is either placement otherwise my prime goal CSE.
