Campus

The university has two primary campuses, both located in the heart of Los Angeles. First, is the University Park Campus. This 229-acre campus is located in the University Park district of Los Angeles, 4.4 miles (7.08 km) southwest of Downtown Los Angeles and is also within walking distance to Los Angeles landmarks such as the Shrine Auditorium and Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It is home to the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School, and most of USC’s professional schools. Also, adjacent to it is the Exposition Park region, with its world-class museums and recreational facilities. Due to restricted vehicle movement in the campus, students can roam around freely exploring and cherishing their environment.

The second one is the Health Sciences campus, about 4.5 miles (7.24 km) northeast of Downtown Los Angeles. This 79-acre campus contains the Keck School of Medicine and the School of Pharmacy as well as three other major teaching hospitals. It is a major center for basic and clinical biomedical research in the fields of cancer, gene therapy, neurosciences, and transplantation biology, among others.

Students find it easy to commute in and out of USC due to several rapid transit stations. The Metro Expo Line light rail service has three stations in the vicinity of the USC main campus and the Metro Silver Line bus service serves both campuses, along with several Metro and municipal bus routes.

Housing Options

On Campus

Campus accomodation is taken care of by the mammoth USC Village, a 1.25-million-square-foot residential and retail center directly adjacent to USC's University Park campus. Situated on 15 acres of university-owned land, the USC village has over 130,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, with student housing on the four floors above.

It also includes a Trader Joe's, a Target, a fitness center, restaurants, and outdoor dining, 400 retail parking spots, a community room, and housing for over 2,700 students. Providing everything a student can ask for in terms of connectivity and housing, the USC Village is the first and foremost choice for international students looking for a second home.

Estimated yearly living expenses (for suite and residence hall double room types) including two semesters of rent, default required full meal plans and optional parking, range from 14,559 to 19,609 USD for freshmen and 12,335 to 14,835 USD for upperclassmen. Rents for some assignments, especially single-occupancy room types, are higher.

Off Campus

USC offers an official off campus housing directory, where students can find a perfect fit for their needs. Maintained, verified and approved by a diligent team of campus managers, the directory allows you to filter your searches by selecting an area, number of bedrooms & bathrooms, and maximum rent. Advanced searches include distance to campus, zone, term, start-end price, among others.

Additionally, USC Housing has partnered with Off-Campus Housing 101 to provide students with listings of all available rentals from private landlords near both university campuses. All of these listings are within the USC Department of Public Safety Patrol Zone and offer consistent customer support to assist all students in obtaining their private rental housing.

    USC MSW - NAVIGATING A 2-YEAR PRIVATE-SCHOOL PROGRAM

USC's Master's in Social Work Program is nationally ranked and offers flexibility in designing your career. When looking into schools for a master's program, it was the only school I applied to, as I was certain of the program I was interested in. To apply, I applied with my resume, transcripts, autobiography, and letters of recommendation. No GRE was required to apply.

    Exams -

No GRE was required for my program. The program required that you have a minimum 3.5 GPA in undergrad and volunteer/work experience in the field. When searching for programs, no GRE was a plus because I know the GRE preparation process is extensive and I would have to wait another year to apply to programs.

    LOOK PAST THE SCANDALS

Fell in love with the feel, the size of the campus, and the degree programs. It also had all the clubs that I was looking for and the most perfect weather possible. It also had the most prestige out of all the colleges I got in to.

    Course Curriculum -

It depends on the course I'm taking. Some classes are extremely hard for me such as Calculus and Physics and require a lot of extra work outside of class. Other classes such as GEs or the Freshman Seminar Courses don't require as much effort.

    USC: A REVIEW

They have an excellently ranked program and offered a strong financial aid package, which allowed me to afford the school. I also liked the location, as LA has many opportunities because it's a hub of innovation.

    Course Curriculum -

I believe that some majors are harder than others. I know I'm computer science, they make the midterm exams so that the average is 60% before the curve. Other majors like biomedical engineering have a lot of coursework and hard classes, making it one of the hardest majors at USC.

    UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA'S REVIEW

I was torn because I got accepted everywhere I applied, but here at USC, I would have friends, a BFF as a roommate, and they gave me scholarship money. Not to mention it was a perfect distance away from home.

    Course Curriculum -

In my first year, the curriculum was not difficult, just memorization mostly. My second year is a different story. I had to apply my knowledge which was a new concept. I would say it was difficult but manageable.
