Keele Campus is the largest post-secondary campus of 457 acres in Canada. It also operates as the primary campus of the University

Its two overseas campuses EcoCampus, Costa Rica, and Hyderabad Campus, India shows its strong international reach.

The university is inaugurating Students Center and Schulich School of Business Expansion in 2018 and is working on its proposed Markham Center Campus to be launched in 2021. The motive behind this expansion is to provide new ways of experiential education opportunities and unlocking potential for the best career option to the society.

Campuses of York University

York University has three campuses in Ontario, Canada.

  • Keele Campus: It is the primary campus of York University and is located in the northern city of Toronto with an area of 457 acres. 
  • Glendon Campus: It is a bilingual campus of the University located in central Southern Ontario. 
  • Markham Campus: It is situated near Highway 407 in partnership with Seneca College.

York University Application process 

Candidates are subject to follow different application procedure for separate programs. However, the common registration steps that have to be followed by everyone are:

  • Go to the official website of York University.
  • Under “How To Apply” section click on filling the application form.
  • Read the instructions carefully and upload the required documents.
  • Pay the application fee of $120 through Visa, Visa Debit or Master Card
  • On successful submission of the application form, you will receive an email containing your York reference number
  • Check your application progress with the help of this number.
  • The process may take 6-8 weeks to complete.

Scholarships at York University

York University offers a scholarship to the students based on the place of their nativity, college or place of study, and previous academic record. There are few scholarships that do not require the application and there are some for which candidates have to apply before the stipulated date.

Work While You Study at York University

Off-Campus

International students with valid study permit can apply for on-campus employment opportunity while studying at the university. They will have to satisfy the following conditions.

  • Valid Study permit
  • Full-time student
  • Have a valid SIN (Social Insurance Number)
  • Studying in any program of minimum six months duration
  • Registered at a deputed learning institution either at the post-secondary level or, in a vocational program at the secondary level

On-Campus

Any full-time international student could work on campus with the work permit.

  • The work permit is not required
  • No limit for on-campus work
  • Valid SIN is required

How to get a Social Insurance Number(SIN)?

SIN is mandatory to work in Canada or to participate in any government program or benefits. For the international students, it is compulsory to get a job regardless of on or off-campus to receive earnings and benefits. It could be easily obtained at any Service Canada Office. SIN is valid until you leave Canada or a maximum 5 years. Get SIN easily by submitting the following documents in person at any Service Canada Office.

  • Passport
  • Valid study permit
  • Work permit/ co-op/internship program permit.

Residential Housing Facility at York University

The university offers on-campus accommodation to undergraduate and graduate students on York’s Keele and Glendon campuses. Candidates have the choice to choose the shared accommodation called “residence” which is specially designed to fit their needs.

  • The Keele campus is a small city unto itself with shops, café, restaurants, fitness facilities, parks, and art galleries.
  • 1250 self-contained units are available for students at York’s Keele campus.
  • Any full-time student who is at least 21years older is eligible to become a resident of York’s University.
  • However, students could choose to live off-campus anywhere in Toronto. Housing is available for all international students and candidates do not have to pay any application fee for York’s Apartment Housing.
  • Rent per room- $892-$1,639 per month
