Ques. How is ICE at NIT Trichy?

● Top Answer By Raya Das on 24 Mar 21

Ans. My brother is a recent graduate of Instrumentation and Control Engineering at NIT Trichy, so let me share some facts about its overall performance.  There are some pros and cons of the department which include: Pros: Vibration control research in ICE at Nit Trichy is really good. Robotics, Control, and Electronics are also good for pursuing your graduate studies. Career/ Job aspects across a variety of profiles are accessible for ICE graduates in campus placements. Seniors help a lot with academics. You will be trained to work under pressure. Classrooms are neat and have a great environment. No uniform is required for entering the labs. Categories ICE at NIT Trichy Course Fee 5.65 lakh Placement Percentage 80-90% Highest CTC 20 LPA Average CTC 12 LPA Recruiting Companies Tech Mahindra, TCS, Texas Instruments, JP Morgan, etc. Cons: There are only 11 faculties in the department out of which only two faculties teach properly.  Labs are not up-to-the-mark. Most of the electronics components don’t work properly. The guidance is inadequate. Assignments provide little help. Due to continuous fests in the college, it might be difficult to concentrate on your studies. Like every college, there should be 4 classes per week, but here in ICE, the faculty members tend to keep 6-8 classes per week with students attending the classes just for the attendance. Subjects like PDD, Engineering Mechanics, and Analytical Instrumentation are taken for granted.  If you are really interested in Instrumentation, only then you should join this department. Otherwise, join some other branch in NIT T so that you are able to learn something.Read more

Ques. How is instrumentation and control engineering at Bharati Vidyapeeth IPU College, Delhi, Paschim Vihar?

● Top Answer By Rahul Singh on 17 Feb 21

Ans. Admission to these branches is done through rank obtained in IPU entrance examination. However, instrumentation and control engineering is the least preferred branch in BVCOE. Being a non-CS branch, the placement statistics of Instrumentation Engineering is not good. The level of difficulty of this branch is no less than CS or IT but then studying the course in a domain like Instrumentation Engineering and ending up being at Software Company doing the same as other IT/CS engineers are doing will not take you anywhere. In the admission process, the basic order followed according to the branches is CSE, ECE, IT or EE, and ICE. Below is briefly mentioned the perks and cons of pursuing Instrumentation Engineering from Bharati Vidyapeeth: Placement Rate 60% Lowest Salary  3.5 LPA Average Salary 6.5 LPA Highest Salary 11 LPA Fees(Total) INR 4.69 lakhs Duration 4 years This depicts the information regarding instrumentation and control engineering in Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering, Delhi.Read more

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose Instrumentation because it has wide range of scope out of India. Faculty student ratio is 1:30. All qualified staff and also very helpful in everything. If you are going through personal problems they will also help you for that. College also provides project fund that was such a good thing. There were two term exams means UT. That were about 60 marks. You must get 24 marks to complete your internal assessment. Submissions are strict. It has horizon event which is famous throughout the Mumbai. College has its own cricket stadium. Many concerts, cricket matches are there, what else do you want.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees infrastructure is similar according to government schemes. If your income below the level which government has decided to give you scholarship then you have to pay according to your cast. And also if you want scholarship then you should be present 70% throughout entire year. Campus selection is also good. Many companies came for placement, such as TCS, Accenture, Capgemini etc.

Campus Life :

Annul fests like horizon is at top. Also various sports tournament for boys as well as girls. Also gym, swimming pool, football ground, separate cricket ground and stadium which is DY patil stadium is present. Many celebrities had come to the events. So it will be great and enjoy life if you took admission in this college.

Remarks :

Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, preferably known as RAIT is the great college to be in. It has the best infrastructure and they take utmost care of health and hygiene. It has a good faculty staff who helps us in whatever way possible. It has a good placement drive which attracts many like me to get the admission out here. It has a great amenities and an overall great atmosphere to chill and make beautiful memories with friends. The best part is the cultural festival and the Horizon which everyone eagerly waits for the whole year to come. It's 3 days of madness where everyone enjoys and dance to the fullest. The college has different extra curricular activities which makes it apart from the traditional college life. It respects every field equally and helps every individual to achieve their dream. All these reasons make this college quite different from others and I had no doubt while choosing this over others and finally after completing my engineering I can now say that I had taken the right choice for sure.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees is formidable I must say which is normal like any other engineering college would take. The course is of 4 years and it won't cost more than 4 Lakhs for the complete course. This is the highest fees the college would take which is for the General Category. The college has the reservation policy for other categories as well as those who cannot afford this much. So they have bifurcated quite well in terms of the category. I got placed in TCS with a package of 3.36 Lpa which is quite good for the freshers. Campus placement is good where almost 50-70% students got the placement which is a good%.

Campus Life :

Life was beautiful both inside as well as outside the campus. Nobody would feel shy/afraid while entering the campus as it was quite a chill mood inside. Infrastructure is the best overall and the best part of the college is the Annual Tech Fest which used to happen in October month for 3 days and Horizon (Annual Fest) which is 3 days of complete madness. Everyone would become proactive before a month of it's arrival and we used to enjoy these 3 days to the fullest. Then there would be sports and extracurricular activities which helped every individual to achieve their dreams.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I got into Instrumentation Engineering because I got fewer marks in MHT-CET & JEE(mains) which was 50/200 in CST and 17/360 in JEE in 2018. Staffs here are helpful in every aspect. Sometimes they don't even take lectures as they get exhausted after continuously taking lectures. And yes you can even bunk like Mass Bunkbut for once it's accepted by teachers but not every time as they have the grades in their hands they will make you do anything like writing assignments 3-4 times more. Most of the teachers are PHD holders. So, don't mess with them, as one of my friends stuck in KTs(internal). The method to get high internal is that be in the sights of every teacher so that they recognise you by your name and boom you will get internal above 20 out of 25. This matters a lot while results so, be in the good books of your teachers. And sometimes they will provide you Sample question bank for TERM TESTS. And the questions will be given from that question bank. So, getting good marks is simple.

Placement Experience :

From the end of 6th sem, the placements activities get starts. You have to keep the criteria of 60% or 6.75 CGPA average at the time of placements because most of the companies need these criteria to be fulfilled by the candidates they are trying to hire. Coding skills are a must for every damn single department as the placement cell will let you know at the time of training. So, start coding before you even join engineering. Just be the master of anyone program either it be C, C++, JAVA, PYTHON, C#, etc. if you're a coder then congrats you will get the highest package of 15L but it totally depends on your CV or resume. Best of luck with that. Cream students(great coders) can get up to 3 job offers after that college doesn't provide them with many jobs offers because there will be other students too for the placements. Every company provides different packages like TCS starting from 3/3.5L (digital) up to 7.7L(ninja) per annum. Totally depends on the company.

Internships Opportunities :

There is a project every semester. The company starts hiring for Internships from the 6th sem. Currently, I did an internship in RASPBERRY PI off-campus. You can do Internships off campus right after 2nd sem. You'll get to know about the campus as you joined. College is providing free Coursera courses for free for the students. Because it's the Corona pandemic and we're having online lectures. So, learn yourself at home without even coming to college.

Most of the students who come here to study are rich and come in their own cars and vehicles. It's the best place if you love to participate in extra curricular activities. Gender ratio is one is to one except mechanical. You will find beautiful girls in this college which is one of the motivation for boys to come to college daily. RGIT is one of the coolest engineering college if you want to enjoy your engineering college days then this is the college for you. Terms and conditions applied professors are not up to the mark and placement are also not satisfactory. Mostly rich students who have decided to do their masters come here to study.

Placement Experience :

Placement is below average for non IT students. College never took any steps on its own to provide internship, students had to use their own contacts if they want to do internship in their vacations. Hardly instrumentation core companies visited the campus for placement one or two only LnT which took only one student from our batch Sikraft which offered 8k per month initially with 4.5 years bond 2 to 3 students went there. Rest IT companies like Infosys, TCS visited for IT again 1 or 2 were selected in this company from our instrumentation class batch. Tentative percentage placed students is 8 to 10 percent every year. Institution never took special steps to prepare students for placements.

Faculty :

Faculty of the college I would rate below average their knowledge and teaching style was below average for few it was worst. We had few professors who's communication skills were worst. Our lecture timing was from morning 9 to evening 5 Monday to Saturday. One lecture of one hour. All the teachers had bachelors and master's degree but they didn't have any industry experience. Average age of professors was 45. Only 2 teachers were of the age 30 to 35 rest were above 45. I don't think they had done any industry certification because it never reflected in their teaching.

Admission :

I choose this Instrumentation course because it has very much scope in various fields considering that i got in this field. Since there are very less collegee in mumbai having this branch and my college is also not far to travel for me so i dicided to take admission in this college. You get an admission in this college on the basis of your MHcet entrance exam score the merit list comes and you get the branch according to your ranking among all the students who have applied.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

According to me i had taken admission in 2017 and my fees was 94800 Rs in open cast that is around 1 lakh and it is feasible comparing to bombay colleges. The fees varies depending upon your cast like if you are obc your fees will be somewhat around 40000 Rs and if Sc/ST then the fees is very low. Special seats are reserved for the TFWS students and to avail this scheme your entrance score must be high.

Placement Experience :

In our college there is placement and training department who manages all the job placements and the company who are coming to our college. They give us training for interview for job. There is good amount of students placed each year and many MNC companies comes our college for giving jobs. Our department also provide internship in both summer and winter vacation.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is fine here as it is provided by mumbai university. Exam structure in my college is we have 2 semester exams between a year of engineering which is held in april and nov. Before this successive semesters our college conducts 2 internal assessment exams so that students get well versed in respective subjects. On focus of research and development our college encourages us to do some science projects. And let us participate in competitions. I personally think keeping two subjects practical in a single day is frustrating however keeping one at a day is fine.

College Events :

In odd semester we have techfest where students come up with there technical ideas and arrange various events. And have exhibition regarding same. Various surrounding colleges students visit our college techfest. And also compete in competitions. In even semester we have a cultural fest named HORIZON. Which is biggest cultural fest in navi mumbai. It is of thouree days where there is Bollywood night where celebrities from Bollywood come and perform and also edm night where students enjoy they remove all their stress. Could been the best stress buster of the semester

Campus Life :

Our college conducts sports fest held in even sem. Many students participate in various sports competition held in college. Our college also has a commitee which performs a cultural fest in even semester of edm nights and Bollywood night. Morever there is a committee named social wing which look into various social affairs arranges a marathon for our students and the fund raised here is sended to orphanage.

Placement Experience :

Companies for Instrumentation branch are few and out of those, a limited number of core companies conduct placement drives. Training and Placement Officer needs to work really hard on this. Most companies are for computer, EXTC and mechanical engineering. Internships are not offered by our college. One major issue which I felt was the students are equally responsible for everything happening in and around the college. Most of them just attend college for the sake of it because of which the deserving students suffer. I would suggest if any student wants to join this institute, you should be having attendance above 75%, utilise library facilities (one of the biggest library I have seen in a college) and don't rely much on campus placements, prepare for off-campus drives.

Remarks :

Positive remarks - Good staff, ample of opportunities, 75% attendance implies you to attend compulsorily, industrial training (incase of instrumentation branch), seminars, only one class of 60 students. Negatives - Placement scenario needs immediate attention for improvement. Canteen has poor seating arrangements, food is average. My overall personal experience was good with this college. I did manage to have an average attendance of 85% over four years. For Instrumentation, it's better for you to attend lectures as there's no specific study material, almost all are reference books mentioned in syllabus.

Admission :

We had Centralised Admission Process (CAP) rounds based on our composite scores (JEE+HSC). The document verification process is to be done before CAP rounds start. ARCs are allotted for each area for the verification process. After that, candidates have to fill out the college names in the form and wait for the list to be displayed. I had to wait till third round to get admission in RGIT Instrumentation branch. The process was overall easy to understand to go through. You can check DTE website which handles admissions for engineering courses.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Its totally based on Mumbai University syallbus and total consists on 8 semesters. The curriculum is good, especially because of all the practicals related to those of the topics and also the visual presentation of those topics. The exam structure is like we have 2 Term tests in each term and then a viva and our final Semester exam which is almost of a duration of 6 months all together.

Remarks :

The overall review about the college according to me is very poor as comapared to other government engineering colleges. May be there is no proper or stable managment because of the facultys. The college administration should improve its administration due to which students should not get suffer.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The scholarship is not provided by college but government provides it. There is no loan or any frreship from college . Though college is selacted under TEQUIP program it provides fund for various event and function or for the student projects.
