The eligibility criterion for pursuing this course is that the students should have completed their 12th from a recognized school. The school should be affiliated to a board recognized by the government of India. The student should have obtained certain minimum marks in the qualifying examination as mentioned by the universities individually.

Usually, the admission procedure starts when the 10+2 results are declared and the universities and colleges issue notices well in advance for the admission forms. Generally, universities and colleges offering this course select their candidates on the merit basis however some colleges also conduct their entrance exams.
IPUCET: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts an entrance exam called IPUCET for the selection procedure. The forms for IPUCET are available generally during February, while the test is conducted in the month of May. The forms are only available online.
UPSEE: Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination or UPSEEis conducted by Uttar Pradesh Technical University for admission to BHMCT program. The forms are available in the month of February and an objective exam is held in the month of April.
