AILET 2020 RESERVATION
NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
NLU Delhi devises a set of AILET Reservation Criteria following which the seats are allocated to the qualified candidates. The exam is scheduled for May 3, 2020 in offline (pen-paper based) mode. From this session onwards, 50% of seats are reserved for students of Delhi whereas the rest of the seats will be filled by All India Quota. This will be applicable for all programs: B.A.LLB, LLM and PhD offered by AILET 2020.

Number of seats in B.A.LLB and LLM programs have also increased as mentioned in the official notification. Candidates will be granted admission to 110 undergraduate seats and 70 postgraduate seats through AILET
National Law University, Delhi will follow the reservation criteria for the following categories –
Aspirants eligible for reservation and satisfying the eligibility standards are required to meet a minimum level of performance in the exam and subsequent rounds of selection for final admissions. Tabulated below is the reservations percentage as per candidate’s category.

Candidates can claim reservation under this category id provided with a valid certificate from authorities. 15% seats are reserved for SC whereas 7.5% of the total seats are kept for ST category. In case seats under SC category go unfilled, they are carried to eligible ST candidates and vice versa. If sufficient number of eligible candidates are not there, the seats are forwarded to Unreserved Category candidates.
22% of all the seats are kept for non creamy layer OBC candidates. Certificates proving candidature under this category should be issued by the competent authority on or after January 1, 2020. The reservation norms are followed in all programs offered by NLU, Delhi through AILET 2020.
10% EWS category reservation has been implemented by NLU, Delhi for AILET 2020. An income and asset certificate issued by a competent authority is to be produced to claim reservation under this category.
NLU, Delhi ensures horizontal reservation of 5% for persons with disabilities across all categories. NLU being a nationally accredited institute grants this reservation under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016. Thus seats are reserved in General, OBC, SC, ST nad EWS category for PwD candidates.
2 supranumerary seats are reserved for candidates hailing from J&K. At the time of applying online, candidates have to upload documents supporting their claim under this category. As the seats are supranumerary in nature, in case they go unfilled they are forwarded to any other category.
Under this category Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) resideing in Kashmir valley are included. 1 supranumerary seat is alloted to Kashmiri migrants. If left unfilled, the seat is not converted to any other category and remains vacant.
Admission to National Law University is made strictly through merit or scores secured in AILET Examination.

Ques. How many seats are available through AILET 2020?
Ans. NLU, Delhi has modified seat matrix for 2020 session of AILET. 110 seats are available in B.ALLB and 70 seats in LLM program through all India merit basis. 10 seats are reserved for direct admisson to Foreign Nationals. Moreover 1 supranumerary seats will be granted to J&K migrants and 2 for Residents of J&K.
Ques. Are there seats reserved for Delhi Students in AILET 2020?
Ans. Yes, NLU. Delhi has provided the provision of seats reservation for students of Delhi. 50% setas are reserved under this quota.
Ques. What is the reservation criteria for Students of Delhi Quota?
Ans. Candidates who have passed/ appearing in their qualifying examination from a college/institute located in Delhi NCR region are eligible to apply under this category. In case applicants have acquired a Diploma degree and their exam / study center is located in Delhi NCR they can apply for this quota.
Ques. What is the required Reservation Certificate issue date in AILET 2020/
Ans. Candidates claiming reservation under SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS category should make sure the certificate is issued by the competent authority in recent months, preferably on or after January 1, 2020.
Ques. What happens if seats go unfilled under SC/ ST category in AILET 2020?
Ans. In case sufficient number of seats are not filled under SC category they are offered to ST category and vice-versa.
Ques. Is there reservation criteria for Persons with Disabilities in AILET 2020?
Ans. Yes, 5% horizontal reservation is granted to PwD candidates qualifying in AILET 2020. This means that in every category: Unreserved, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS 5% of the total seats are reserved for disabled candidates. For Example: Unreserved category has 24 seats this 1 seat is reserved for qualified PwD candidates.
Ques. What is the reservation criteria for EWS category?
Ans. General Category candidates applying for AILET 2020 and whose family income is not more than 8 lakh in a financial year are eligible to apply under EWS category.
Ques.Is Creamy Layer in Other Backward Classes eligible for reservation in AILET 2020?
Ans. No, only Non-Creamy layer candidates as mentioned in the central list of Government of India are considered for reservation in Other Backward Classes in AILET 2020.
