Didymium was divided into elements by Baron Carl Auer von Welsbach, and these two elements were distinct from one another. One was made of praseodymium, while the other was made of neodymium. Praseodymium was discovered as a result. The word praseodymium is derived from the Greek words 'prasinos' and 'didymos,' which indicate green and twin, respectively.
