Admission

I got the admission form downloaded from SMU official website and the administration is smooth and spontaneous. They have very helpful supporting staff. The notification got released on the admission website a month prior in advance. Students also receive phone calls for the admission and a detailed information is given to the students by counselling team.

Faculty

Most of the faculties in Anjuman I Islam Hotel management college was less of practical experience in hotels (except staff in Kitchen). Front office faculty was good. Mr Stephan gave us practical knowledge. Kitchen practical staff was were good as they were having many years of experience. Housekeeping staff was not up to the mark , since the subject itself has nothing more or any new to learn about.

Placement Experience

Placements interview took place in 2nd half of the final year in Anjuman I Islam. Our recruitment faculties were really good (Ms Harshali) gave us many opportunities. During our year almost 15 hotels with good name came for placements. Approx 80 of the students were selected for various hotel. Many of the hotels offer not more that 15K /month. Its basis structure almost all the hotels follow.

Entrance Preview

I had appeared for the internal college entrance exam held for BCS .I don't remember the score but there was a minimum requirement of 80% in your 12th boards exam along with entrance passing marks. I got through in second waiting list of Outside Maharashtra quota. I opted this college because my grandpa friends & many renowned personalities had been to this college & this was NAAC accredited A++ grade college. Who would say no to it. I came from Bihar & was looking for best among all.

College Events

Traditional day , Panorama international students event, Farewell , Freshers day, Independence Day, Republic day, Teachers day, Mismatch day Tie day , Rose day. The traditional day was a huge event with Dj and whole campus looking like a big fat wedding . Panorama was another grand event for foreign students showcasing their music and dance talents of their country.

Course Curriculum Overview

It is a trimester system. i.e every year there will be 3 Trimesters so in total there will be 6 trimesters. Every trimester will have Internal and External examinations. And it is percentage system and Credit based subjects. After every Term there will be a Viva for which there will be dedicated marks. After 1st year as a part of curriculum every student has to undertake a Summer Internship Project.

Admission

Candidate should take entrance exam like CAT MAT ATMA. Admission process includes GD&PI. Admission Process will be open from March to June every year. Candidates with positive attitude and decent communication skills will be given priority. Competitive exams like CAT are normally held in November month of every year. So prior planning is required in order to get selected for the admissions process.

Placement Experience

The campus interview and placement started from d 3 rd year and it was very good. Companies such as ITC , fort radisson , hotel hindusthan international , may fair, taj sats, jet airways , the park , kennilworth was present along with some internation hotels from dubai namely citymax group , landmark hotels .

Exam Structure

30 for practicals and 70 for theories. Practical was done earlier followed by theories . Each semester had 7-8 subjects i guess giving exams in d college was never hectic it was always a chilled out experience. There was a off day in between every exams and it helped us to unwind study and get back harder .

Course Curriculum Overview

The course structure sticks to the basics of the university i.e. Bangalore university. There is nothing in addition to course by the college. Whatever is given by the university college follow that very strictly and sticks to that part only. If we come to teachers then yes they provide you with a vast source of information regarding the subject matter.

Faculty

If we talk about the faculty then i will say the faculties are really good and they are available on regular basis not a guest faculty. They are all very much qualified from their respective background and they are very much motivated and devoted towards their work. You can ask any question and also end numbers of time, they will never get frustrated.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is set by the University and is good. There are some subjects which are quite difficult and some are fairly easy to pass. There are a total of 6 subjects in the first semester, 6 again in the second semester and 6 in the third semester and 6 in the fourth semester and till the 6th semester. In the 7th and 8th semester - there are 4 and 3 subjects respectively.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is very hectic because in a span of 3 months of working days, there are exams three times. First the sessional exams are held two times and then the finals are held. The finals are held in a place outside the college. Sometimes the exams are held in a really faraway place and you end up being in a fix because a lot of time is spent travelling.

Admission

With the Cutoff mark I took in +2, I applied for the Anna University Chennai for Counselling in which we'll be able to choose a College from the list of Colleges affiliated with Anna university Chennai. Based on the Cutoff mark we'll be allocated a date and time and will be asked to visit Anna University and then we'll be asked to choose from the available Colleges.

Placement Experience

We did had placement and job opportunities, but for mechanical department we had nothing. No mech core companies walked for the placement. All we received is Offers from BPO's. Most of the companies walked in are purely software based IT companies targeting for CSC and IT department students.

Campus Life

As there was some community people were given high priority this is the disappointment thing in college. However it extends only for some students in our college and apart from their is no religion or gender feelings all are treated equal. And when a student is having problem the management will solve his/her problems it may be personal or financial this is the best thing in college understanding the problems of students and making changes.

Internships Opportunities

The college provide internship in different organisation and depends upon the organisation to give stipend or not. As the college is not near to any metropolitan city they refer only small scale industries but students have opportunity to go and do in big organisations if they approve. Approval should be taken from student end if he/she did not like the organisation which college provides.

Exam Structure

The only area where this college excels is the exam structure. Exams are not that frequent but the timing and regularity is admirable. The college staff is very strict in terms of examination and the papers are examined very efficiently. The internals are very short giving students enough time to relax and prepare for the other upcoming exams.

College Events

The events are celebrated with the co-ordination of students, teachers, govt. authorities and various NGOs!! Various fundraisers and NSS integrated programmes are celebrated in the college. Republic day and Independence day functions are hosted in the college grounds with the co-ordination of State Police and other schools of the city.

Faculty

College has a supreme faculty.Highly highly qualified and talented teachers teach here. All are government employees and hence no question of 'tution culture' like in pvt colleges. The electrical dept is in a bit of muddle as the teacher has just retired. We have three physics teachers teaching simultaneously only one is a bit boring. There are two maths teacher teaching simultaneously. There are two mechanical science teacher and a single awesome chemistry teacher.I can tell you every one is very interesting. Some part time teachers are also recruited to minimize load on professors they may not be that awesome.

Campus Life

The campus is pretty small. Because the overall strength of students is around 500(including btech and mtech). This is yet another bonus as students are not treated like dogs during campus employment(as in pvt colleges) Gender ratio is quite balanced around 3:7. There is no politics in college and this is again a huge plus.Robotics is not our strength but debate is. Sports are conducted both in small and large scale. Our ground is however a bit small.

Exam Structure

Exam structure was totally based on case studies. IBS Hyderabad has one the largest case study banks in India and all our examinations were real life situations in the corporate world. It always made us relate theories to the real world and how they change and affect the outcome of a situation. It also shaped us for the future on how to deal with the challenges and shortcomings in our workplace.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum was excellent in terms of choices we had. Most importantly, we were given the choice of selecting our majors after the first year where we got exposure to the basics of every stream and we could decide what suits us best. The subjects were relevant to the practical industry present outside and we had a palette of electives ti choose from without any pressure.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very much less in comparison to others. Lower categories peoples can accommodate on that college. I enjoy a lot in my 04 years career.Location was so good as well as study atmosphere was also very nice. But there was a chance for the management for improving and making it a best place for study.

College Events

Lot of technical, cultural, management festivals we celebrated on entire four years.Location was so good as well as study atmosphere was also very nice. But there was a chance for the management for improving and making it a best place for study.I really like that organisation still.

Campus Life

Campus life is overall okay. The hostel timings for the girls is very bleak however, which is big negative. There is great diversity and we have students from all over the country (mainly northern part). The labs are well equipped and functioning. We have several events and workshops going around each department at various times.

Placement Experience

Placements are fine in the School of Management. The rest of the departments have low placements opportunities. The average package of the few companies that come is low, but it has increased slightly when the first B.Tech batch has passed. The CRC department is responsible for placements and job opportunities.

Exam Structure

There are 2 semesters per year. 2 mid-semester per each semester. CGPA grading system is applicable on a grade point scale of 10.Academics is strongest part of my college and it is highly considered.extra classes are being held along with remedial classes for students having backlogs.teachers are always there to help and guide students. If there is any holidays which comes uninvited, they make the next sunday as that working day. So, no compromise on classes here. Moreover, you just can not remain in hostel bunking the classes.

I took OJEE in the year 2013. My rank was not satisfactory, which was 40K in OJEE. I was worried to have such rank, but fortunately i got my seat in GIET, Gunupur that too in my desired branch, Biotechnology. I opted this college only for biotechnology, since there were not much colleges in Odisha offering this course, except government college, which I could not get because of my rank. There happens to be a choice locking appointment for the colleges in odisha under OJEE, and I had choosed this college.

Exam Structure

As I have already mentioned the syllabus was very hard in BPUT. But the main problem was when we were doing our graduation, that time we were attending the exam with 6 subjects in a time frame of 1 year. But here in BPUT, we had to attend the same 6 subjects but the time frame was only 3 months. So in a year we had to attend 3 exams which we were saying trimester. So it was in every 3 months we were attending the exam but in reality it was not 3 months but we were getting less than 3 months for those 6 subjects.

College Events

Every year we do our annual events where we invite other college's students. We celebrate our college's annual day in a great fashion and the celebration goes on for two days. Apart from we do some robotics event as our college is in the same campus with the engineering college. And during the year we do some national conference where the faculties from IIM also come and shares their moments with us.

Faculty

The faculty is very qualified. You can find the heights of a PhD to a double graduate with years and years of experience under the same roof. They are also one of the most helpful people one would expect to have in their budding days. They are active not just curriculum but also off curriculum.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very feasible as it is a government aided college. It has a room for all and no students feels left out. Also the college provides scholarship facilities to needy students and meritorious students. There was no harassment regarding fees in the middle of the year.

Placement Experience

The college does conduct both summer and final placements where almost 100 per cent of the batch (2013-2015) was placed. The average salary for marketing companies were relatively higher at Rs 25000 per month while for Finance the average salary was low at Rs 15000 per month. Apart from this the college brings several short term projects OJT from different companies which students can take along with their curriculum.

Internships Opportunities

Yes of course. It provides internship opportunities. Companies are invited on campus and they select students for internship in marketing and finance field. General stipend ranges from 5 k to 10 k for period of two months. It generally takes place in May- June of the year. Overall experience is mixed- for some its good and for some its bad, depending on the company and internship role offered.
