Alumni/Alumna

Alumnus arrangements of my college is good. Every year they will be conducting alumini meet Jan 26th. During this event the alumin people will inform to all the passed out students. Even they will provide accommodation for people who are coming from long distance.

Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum was fine.My favorite subject is power systems. Because i like thee derivative papers rather than the theoretical one.Among power systems PSOC(Power System Operation and Control) is my favourite.

The placement opportunity was excellent. The companies like Tcs, CTS, wipro, connectiva, Siemens, Shore Consultancy and IBM came for campus recruitment. Also IEM college arranged some pool campuses for us like -HCL, Infosys and few more. They all were offerinf packages in 2lakh to 3 lakh range per annum. I got job in Siemens and my package was 3 lakh.

I appeared for WB JEE 2002 and my rank was 2232. I wanted to study computer science and as per my rank I had option to choose any of the 3 good colleges - IEM, techno india and heritage institute. But I chose IEM as I heard from different sources that campus recruitment is very good there.

Alumni/Alumna

Actually our college director sir did not allow any ragging. So that is why interaction with college seniors were very less. However few of our college seniors and I were daily commuters from VIP road keshtopur region and had some chance to interact with them. They were very helpful and whenever I required any help, they were with me. I can remember one day I forgot to bring my purse and had no money to reavh college and I was getting very late for the college and no option to come back home. At that time one of my seniors helped me to reach college. I can never forget this incident in my lifetime.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course was a full time B.Tech in CSE. The course was for 4 years and each year was divided in 2 semesters. The 1st year was for having a general idea on different engineering like civil, mechanical, electronics, etc. And few other subjects like Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics,English, etc. The next 3 years were totally focused on Computer Science subjects like - Database management,Operating system, Computer Architecture,Automata, compiler design, different programming languages like java,c,etc. and only few electronics engineering oriented subjects like- digital electronics, microprocessor etc.

College Events

We had one cultural event every year, mostly organised by the students of various clubs. The name escapes my mind.We had one intra college sport event every year called NCL, which was the largest event in our college and went on for over 45 days. We had Finance and HR Conclaves and Nirma Annual Managment Conclave, which is the largest management fest every year. Students and faculty from many institutes from Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, etc. apart from few faculty friends from abroad.

Internships Opportunities

Few companies if any offered stipend for my college students. Stipends offered ranged from 2000 to a max of 10, 000 a month. But most of the internship offers were sales related jobs involving mostly cold calling. I got an internship through one of my relatives and got a good mentor, who made sure I was rotated through all the verticals so that I would have an opportunity to learn and understand the connectivity.

Campus Life

Campus life was awesome, lots of workshops to help with academics, lots of cultural club activities to meet new students. Politics is absent and political orientation is liberal throughout. College has students from all corners of the country. International students are mainly from the nationalities of Iran, China, African countries.

Placement Experience

Placements were top class, with almost 95%of eligible students getting placed by the end of the course through campus. Tcs, wipro, Infosys, ibm, Google, Indian navy, tata elxsi, abb, satyam, tech m, fidelity, target, Goldman Sachs, and many more. Average ctc offered was around 4 lacs per annum.

Campus Life

The gender ratio is generally 60:40 ( 50:50 if mechanical department was not considered). We did have the Cricket, football, basketball and volleyball teams which were well backed by the college. We had good number of students coming from different parts of India. I my class 25% of the students were from outside Karnataka. We also had students from Nepal in my class. Labs were pretty good and were available when ever required during the day. There was no discrimination based on race, religion or sex.

Internships Opportunities

We dint have any internship but back then good number of companies were coming for campus recruitment and on an average 15-20 were getting selected. Some of the well known companies to visit the Campus are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, Dell, Accenture, Target etc.

The life at Pulinkunnu is a really soothing one.No types of discrimination is faced by the students from anyone insise or outside campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

Internships Opportunities

About my course, companies hiring are less in number. But few companies came such as Tech Mahindra, SRC etcUsually these companies take and IQ test for screening and the select some students and take individual interviews. Construction conpanies offer around 15000-18000 per month salary .

Course Curriculum Overview

Course is well in detail. We have more practical things than bookish. Practical day to day problems are analysed and studied. But there are few subjects and practical classes which are never useful in future life and studying such things seems to be boring.

Placement Experience

My batch and the next were just before the recession year hence the placements were decent. But the ones during the recession years were full of struggles. But overall the college has gained a good name for itself and the placements are now quite decent as well.

College Events

There were and still are many clubs within the college which conduct various activities/events. One interesting one TMTM - taking management to movies. Wherein a movie would be screened highlighting the management concepts.
