Ques. What are the main differences between IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Delhi?

● Top Answer By Srijit Roy on 01 Mar 21

Ans. The question is self-explanatory. There are various faculties that personally prefer to work in Bombay as it is considered one of the finest places in India for a family. In fact, faculties opt for safety, job opportunities in Bombay over various remote places, one such example of which is Kanpur. City Life: (Winning Institution - IIT Bombay) Every IIT based in large cities of the country obtains better faculties each passing day, and the aforementioned factors are the reason for their joining. All things considered, today’s youth prefer living in cities like Mumbai. Where the city life is more exciting.  Recruiting Companies: Companies also prefer recruiting candidates who had exposure to the outside world, along with being academically sound. In that case, Kanpur is behind Mumbai and Delhi. Facilities: (Winning Institution - IIT Bombay) Facilities can be modified as per one’s wish because there are various options to choose from. But the livelihood of Bombay is steps ahead of Kanpur’s and that results in numerous benefits.  The lab staff members at Bombay are more efficient in action in comparison to Kanpur’s. Bombay has 70% female lab staff members, while Kanpur has only a few.  When compared mainly in terms of faculty, the work environment, and job opportunities, IIT Bombay is steps ahead in comparison to the other two.Read more

Ques. Which one is better: IIT Delhi or IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Pihu Majumder on 25 Feb 21

Ans. One of my relatives did his Post-Graduation in Delhi and at present, he is working in Roorkee. However, he spent a maximum of 2 years in both of these places. Following are some facts are highlighted about both of these institutes. Academics In this aspect, IITD takes credit concerning several streams like B.Tech and M.Tech. However, faculties in IITD always make a race with each other concerning the facts related to Ph.D. funds and research publications with constant focus. Students here are completely devoted to their respective research supervisors, along with their doctoral degrees. So, IITD and IITR are similar to some specific academic cases, but Delhi has many advantages over Roorkee. Sports IITR provides a wide range of advantageous sports activities like river rafting and mountaineering. However, badminton, cricket, football are somewhat common in both of these institutes. Pollution The outside area of IITD is much polluted. Concerning this, IITR has a cleaner atmosphere, as this institute is nearer to River Ganga and Himalayan Mountain ranges. Besides, Delhi is situated by the polluted river Yamuna's side, which is a national burden for this capital city. Medical Fitness To do any medical examination, like an MRI scan, Roorkee people have to go to Dehradun or Haridwar. People from Delhi can go to AIIMS, which is 5km away from the city, which leads Delhi ahead of Roorkee. Transport Facilities E-rickshaws as well as traditional man-driven rickshaws can be seen in Roorkee still in recent days. Additionally, car services are also accessible in Roorkee However, in Delhi, there are metro, auto-rickshaws, cabs, and DTC buses. Tourist Places Delhi is a tourist spot; besides, there are some more tourist attractions like Mathura, Agra, that relax the tourist minds. However, in Roorkee, people can visit Mussoorie, Dehradun, and Rishikesh. Thus, considering the above facts, it can be stated that students can choose IITD for their B.Tech and M.tech study. But in the case of a Doctoral Degree, you must think concerning the facts related to supervisor and research areas.Read more

Ques. Which is better, IIT Delhi or IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Tina Pujari on 25 Feb 21

Ans. My sister was a former student of IITM; thereby, she has limited knowledge of IITD. She often tells me that the choice completely depends on the students' aspects, i.e. how you want to compare these two institutes. It can be mentioned that each of these institutes has its own merits. In the following, some aspects are listed. If the student considers the placement statistics, then IITD is far better. Although IITM is not so far behind. Each and every IIT has its own specificity. My sister always tells me that studying in IITM will lead the student towards its personal development along with skills. There are a lot of entrepreneurship opportunities that thrive inside the campus of IITM; thus, it represents an extraordinary start-up culture. So, if the student has strong interpersonal skills or wants to start their own business, this institute is the right place to start their career. Another important thing is that IITM is situated in the centre of the city, but the student can’t go out as the temperature here is very hot as well as humid. The temperature inside the campus is hardly 1-2 degrees Celsius lower than the surrounding as it is basically part of a reserve forest. Thus, if the student is interested in taking admission here, they must go through several posts about this institute that denotes the academic culture or the reputed institute's cultural life. The scenario beauty of this institute is awesome. My sister also told me that if the students love natural beauty, they can take admission to IITM. But if they prefer girls, then they can select IITD or IITB.Read more

Ques. Which should I prefer, IIT Kharagpur computer or IIT Delhi electrical?

● Top Answer By Sumit Sen on 17 Feb 21

Ans. It would have been easy to answer your question if you had specified your preference. IIT Delhi Electrical: Being situated in a metro city, it will offer better recreational opportunities. The city has big shopping malls, famous food joints like McDonald’s. As for Electrical, choose this branch if you want to pursue core-engineering. If circuital branches interest you this is the branch for you. Electrical course work at IIT Delhi is a mixture of Electronics, Instrumentation, and Control so this will be a really good option.  IIT Kharagpur Computer Science and Engineering: If applying logic brings you more joy than solving complex differential equations, and you want to know how google search works rather than how a transistor functions, CSE at IIT KGP is the right choice for you.  You will also get better salary packages from CSE at IIT Kharagpur.  DC++ at IIT KGP offers unlimited downloads. There are also many extra-curricular activities that you can take part in.  So, sort out your priority and choose which interests you more.Read more

Remarks :

I applied for IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, DTU, NSUT and IIT Delhi. My first preference being IIT Delhi. So as in the counselling process I manage to get IIT Delhi with the course B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering. The whole of the admission criteria and counselling process was held online due to pandemic. The process was quite simple. We had to submit some basic documents like Aadhar Card, Bank Details(they consider SBI or Kotak Mahindra Bank only). Counselling was done by JoSAA. Then after locking up our choice of the college and course, admission fees were submitted. After a few days, I got an email having my enrollment number and class declaration announcement.

Remarks :

The admission at IITs was based upon the GATE score and the written test or/and personal interview. The aggregate score based upon both the results is calculated and a merit list is prepared for the selection process. The minimum marks required is 60% throughout the academic career and there is no restriction on the age limit. On the counselling day, original mark sheets and documents are verified to check the eligibility at the required program.

This course has a huge importance for those who wants to pursue a career in the Management era. MBA course of this Institute is taught in an easy way that one should opt for it. Students have to pass Bachelor's degree with 60% marks and at least 5% CGPA followed by CAT and PI.

Remarks :

Around 10000 students currently study at IIT Delhi, among them 55% are the students who pursue masters, PHD, Post doc etc. In my course course i. e. M.Sc Chemistry around 0.5% students of the total strength lies. The admission to M.Sc Chemistry at IIT's is possible by the entrance exam named as "Joint Admission Test (JAM) " Which is usually conducted in the month of february every year. After the annoucement of JAM result around 20 march, counselling process starts in the month of May and finally students get enrolled in the month of july in their respective colleges.

Remarks :

My institute is no. 1 in India and this year it was ranked 27 in the employability rank list globally. Seriously, I didn't think I would ever reach this point where I would have the option of choosing between IITs. But oh boy, I did. I asked everyone about whether I should take CSE in NIT Trichy or NSUT or DTU or lower branch in top 3 IITs and everyone said the same thing. If you have reached this point you should take full advantage. Take the badge that you have earned. And so I took IIT Delhi in Industrial and Production Engg. I was getting Civil chemical etc too but I have an interest in coding and I wanted to pursue it, so I took a branch with low academic pressure. I preferred it over other institutes because of its reputation, and because it is in Delhi, my home state.
