IIM Ahmedabad Admission Dates 2027

The PGP 2027-29 batch admission cycle is now active, anchored by CAT 2026. CAT 2026 registration is open. The AWT and PI at IIMA are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The 2026-28 batch has been admitted and classes are underway.

IIM Ahmedabad Courses and Fees

IIMA offers a focused portfolio of management programmes, unlike general universities. The PGPM is the flagship programme with the highest intake. All fee figures below are as per the latest published schedule. PGPM fees include tuition, accommodation, and mess for the full two years with no separate hostel charge.

PGPM tuition is INR 20.10 lakhs with accommodation and mess making up the balance to INR 27.50 lakhs. The PGPX campus accommodation costs INR 1.60 to 1.80 lakhs per year additionally. Blended programmes allow students to continue employment, reducing the opportunity cost relative to full-time PGPM. PhD scholars receive a government fellowship stipend throughout the programme.

IIM Ahmedabad Admission Process

IIMA’s admission process is among the most selective in India. The PGPM selection formula is: PI 50% + AWT 10% + CAT 25% + Academic Rating 15%. There is no management quota or direct admission route at any stage.

PGPM Admission

PGPM 2027-29 batch uses CAT 2026 scores. The minimum CAT percentile for the 2026-28 batch was 95 overall and 85 sectional for General and EWS candidates. Reserve categories receive relaxed percentile norms as per IIM policy.

• Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD) from a recognised university.
• Final-year students may apply and get provisional admission.
• Non-male candidates receive 3 bonus points in the Application Rating (Rating E) for gender diversity.
• Six Academic Categories (AC-1 to AC-6) adjust graduation marks in the Application Rating. Engineering is AC-4, Commerce/Management is AC-3, and Medicine is AC-1.
• IIMA shortlists for AWT and PI typically in the second week of January after CAT results.

PGPX Admission

PGPX is the 1-year executive MBA at IIMA. Admission requires a valid GMAT or GRE score (no CAT route). The minimum work experience requirement is 7 years of full-time employment post-graduation. PGP-FABM Admission

PGP-FABM is a separate 2-year programme with its own intake. It uses the same CAT-based AWT and PI process as PGPM but with additional preference for candidates with backgrounds in agriculture, veterinary science, food technology, or allied sciences. Cutoffs are slightly lower than PGPM for candidates with agriculture backgrounds.

IIM Ahmedabad Placements

IIM Ahmedabad PGPM 2025 placement season recorded 100% placements with 178 companies making 261 offers. The highest domestic offer was INR 1.10 CPA. The median salary was INR 34.53 LPA and the mean salary was INR 35.22 LPA. Consulting remained the most sought-after sector, followed by BFSI and General Management.

PGPX placement outcomes for the 2024-25 batch are tracked separately. IIMA alumni populate leadership positions across McKinsey, BCG, Goldman Sachs, Hindustan Unilever, and major family-owned conglomerates. The IIMA brand carries strong recognition in international markets, with several PGPM graduates receiving international offers each year.

IIM Ahmedabad Rankings

IIM Ahmedabad is India’s top-ranked business school. It holds the NIRF Management rank 1 continuously since 2020 and features in multiple global rankings through its PGPX and executive programmes.

IIMA does not participate in QS or THE World University Rankings. Its FT Global MBA rank reflects the PGPX one-year programme, not the two-year PGPM. The FT Executive Education Open ranking covers IIMA’s non-degree executive programmes.

IIM Ahmedabad Scholarships

IIMA offers financial aid through scholarships and loans for PGPM students. The aid framework is need-based. There is no merit scholarship for admitted students given the highly selective admission process itself.

• IIMA Need-Based Financial Aid: Admitted PGPM students from households with annual income below a prescribed threshold are eligible for fee waivers or subsidised education loans at preferential interest rates, facilitated through IIMA tie-ups with scheduled banks.
• SC/ST Fee Concession: SC and ST students admitted to PGPM receive fee concessions as per Ministry of Education guidelines for centrally funded Institutes of National Importance.
• Vivek Paranjape Scholarship: Awarded to female students with financial need who demonstrate leadership potential. Named after an IIMA alumnus. Contact the IIMA Student Services for the current cycle eligibility criteria.
• PhD Fellowship: All PhD scholars receive a monthly fellowship stipend and full fee waiver for the duration of the programme, funded by the Ministry of Education.
• Education Loan: IIMA has arrangements with national banks for PGPM education loans at concessional rates. Students may use these to cover the INR 27.50 lakhs programme fee.

IIM Ahmedabad Campus and Infrastructure

IIM Ahmedabad’s campus is located at Vastrapur, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The campus was designed by American architect Louis Kahn and was built between 1963 and 1974. The original red-brick buildings are a recognised heritage landmark and are among the most photographed academic structures in India.

The campus is fully residential. PGPM students live on campus in individual rooms. The hostel accommodation cost is included in the INR 27.50 lakhs total PGPM fee. The campus has a central library, computing centre, sports facilities, a medical centre, and a student activity centre. The IIMA library holds one of India’s largest collections of management case studies.

A new campus expansion has added modern classroom blocks, student dorms, and a faculty residential zone. The campus is located close to Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur Lake and the Bodakdev commercial district, offering easy access to Ahmedabad International Airport and key business hubs.

IIM Ahmedabad vs IIM Bangalore vs IIM Calcutta

IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta form the "IIM-ABC" tier, the three oldest and most globally recognised IIMs. Candidates with CAT scores above 99 percentile consider all three simultaneously. The choice between them is often driven by sector preferences, alumni network, and location rather than academic quality, which is comparable across the three.

IIMA leads on NIRF rank and consulting placement strength. IIMB benefits from the Bengaluru tech and start-up ecosystem. IIMC has historically placed more graduates in BFSI and operations roles. All three offer comparable median salaries for PGP. Candidates applying to all three simultaneously have the best shot at securing one of these top three offers, as final admission decisions are independent across institutes.
