MH CET Law 2018 Counselling

The Directorate of Higher Education, Maharashtra will be holding MH CET Law Counselling from August 2018. All the candidates having their names on the merit list are eligible to appear for counselling and seat allotment process for final admissions. 

The state level law examination will be conducted separately for 5 year LLB and 3 year LLB program, scheduled for April 22 and June 17. DHE Maharashtra will release the law results on the official website in the first week of June 2018. Qualified candidates will then have to register via Centralized Admission Process (CAP). 

MH CET Law 2018 Counselling Schedule

What are the steps involved in MH CET Law Counselling?

There are several steps involved in the counselling process for MH CET Law 2018. Candidates can simply follow the steps mentioned below to participate in the counselling.

  • Visit the official website according to your program -
  • Click on 'New Registration' tab.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to provide the requisite details.
  • Provide your Registration number/ Roll Number.
  • Click on Submit tab.
  • Once registered, visit the facilitation center for document verification step and proceed to CAP.
Note: If a candidate fails to report at the allotted college within the given time, he will lose his seat and will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of counselling.

What is a Facilitation Center?

A facilitation center means a center where the facilities like the sale of application kits, online forms, document verification and grievances are dealt by the authorities.

What is the Counselling Fee for MH CET Law?

The counselling fee is prescribed as per the category of a candidate. Tabulated below is the same:

1) In case of seat cancellation, the counselling fee will be refunded only after a deduction of INR 1000 for General, VJ/DT, NT, SBC/ OBC category.
2) INR 300 will be deducted in case of SC/ ST category candidates.

What is Centralised Admission Process (CAP)?

CAP is a digital portal which is used by the Unaided Private Institutions to enroll candidates at the time of MH CET Law Counselling. The notification for it will be released along with the admission-cum-registration form for counselling. 

What are the Stages of CAP?

The various stages involved in the process are stated below:

  • Display of Information Brochure by the Competent Authority / Nodal Officer online at
  • Registering for CAP by filling in counselling registration form.
  • Publishing of Provisional Merit Lists, Submission of grievances (if any) and publishing of final Merit List.
  • Display of available category-wise seats (Seat Matrix) for CAP Round I and II.
  • Filling and Confirmation of Online Option Form having a preference of Institutions before CAP Round I.
  • Display of Provisional Allotment of CAP Round I and II indicating allotted institute
1) Fill in the preferences in decreasing order as specified by the authorities.
2) Option Form once confirmed shall be considered for allotment in Round I and II.

What are Freeze and Float option available during the CAP?

During the CAP, before accepting the allotted seat a candidate can opt to ‘Freeze’ or 
‘Float’ the choice of the institute for subsequent rounds. 

  • Freeze Option: Accepting the offered seat by paying the full fee in the College/ Institution allotted. Such Candidates will not be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.
  • Float Option: Accept the offered seat and indicate that, if admission to a program in any Institution of higher preference is offered, they will accept it. Else, they will continue with the currently accepted program. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission, such candidates accept the seat by paying seat acceptance fee.   
Note: Candidates choosing Float option, and securing a seat of his/ her choice of higher preference, then it would automatically result in the forfeiture of the seat accepted by them in the earlier round.

Documents Required for MH CET Law 2018 Counselling

All the candidates appearing for the counselling process must carry the requisite documents on the day of reporting. Candidates should keep both the original as well as Photostat documents at the time of counselling.

  • SSC (Std. X) Mark sheet and Certificate
  • HSC (Std. XII) Mark sheet
  • Degree Mark Sheet
  • Post Graduate Mark sheet
  • CET Score Card
  • CET Hall Ticket
  • Option form
  • School Leaving Certificate, if required
  • Certificate of Indian Nationality
  • Domicile / Birth / Leaving certificate Indicating place of Birth as the State of Maharashtra
  • Maharashtra Domicile certificate of candidate or father/mother of candidate
  • Category Certificate, if any

Is there any Reservation Criteria for MH CET Law 2018?

Yes, DHE has defined various reservation criteria for the candidates of Maharashtra State. The criteria listed below are applicable to candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria specified by respective authorities. 

Reservation for Backward Class Category Candidates:

Percentage reserved for the category is the percentage of seats available for Maharashtra candidates under the CAP. It is important to claim the category to which they belong to at the time of submission of application form for CAP.

1) A valid Caste Certificate is required at the time of document verification, failing to do so will result in cancellation of candidature. 
2) Seat allotment will be cancelled if the documents are not verified or they are found with illicit information.

Reservation for Sons/ Daughters of Defence Services Personnel:

There is only 5% i.e. 5 seats that are reserved for each institute coming under CAP for the following candidates:

  • Def. 1 – Children of Ex-service personnel who are Domiciled in Maharashtra State
  • Def. 2 – Children of Active Service Personnel who are Domiciled in Maharashtra State
  • Def. 3 – Children of Active Service Personnel, transferred to Maharashtra State but are not Domiciled in Maharashtra, or who are not domiciled in Maharashtra but their families are stationed in the State.
1) A combined single merit list of all eligible Def. 1, Def. 2 and Def. 3 candidates will be prepared. 
2) To claim seats under this, produce an additional document proving that you are eligible for this quota.
3) Children of Civilian Staff will not be considered under this category.

Reservation for Persons with Disability:

Percentage of seats reserved for the category is 3%  of the total sanctioned intake of all the Institutions under CAP.  These candidates are required to submit the PwD certificates in order to claim seats under this quota.The break up is tabulated below:

P3 – Orthopedic disorders, Learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphic, Spastic candidates.

Why and How is CAP Round III conducted?

If there are any vacant seats left after Round I and Round II, Round III takes place. The status of vacant seats is published online on MH CET Law website. In this round also computerized allotment on Inter-se-Merit basis will be done.

Conditions for Seat Allocation are as follows:

  • No allocation of seat in any of the previous rounds
  • Who did not participate (failure of filling option form) in the previous round  
  • Taken and cancelled admission in the earlier rounds or rejected seats
  • Freezed the admission in earlier rounds but are desirous of Floating in this final round is eligible to participate in this round. 
  • Opted for Floating option by paying seat acceptance fee and also applying for Round III shall not fill in the allotted institution in their choice list.
Note: Float options are not available for the seats allotted in this round.

Stages involved in Round III of CAP

  1. Checking the status of seats and conditions as mentioned above.
  2. Reporting at the instituion
  3. Accepting and conforming the offered seat.

What is the meaning of Inter-Se-Merit?

The meaning of Inter-Se-Merit is the order of merit declared by the Competent Authority in respect of various classes or category of candidates. In MH CET Law, the allotment in CAP Round I, II and II of State Level Seats will be carried out as per Inter-Se-Merit of Maharashtra candidates.
