Childhood Summary
Childhood, written by Marcus Natten is an autobiographical poem, where he expressed his sorrow regarding his lost childhood. Through this story, the readers may also be able to understand how life is not how it seems to be.
- At the beginning of the poem the wonders about his lost childhood and explained how he started to realize the differences between childhood fantasies and realities.
- Here, the poet goes on to tell about how our point of view changes as we grow older. He also talks about the hypocrisy of the grown-ups.
- In the next part, the poet thoughts about how one day he realized he has a mind of his own and he can use it as he wishes. He wonders if that was the moment his childhood was lost forever.
- At the end of the poem, the poet realizes that childhood only remains until the state of infancy.
