Colloidal solutions are insoluble particles of another mixture. If you look in the colloidal solutions in-depth, you will get the dispersed particles of another substance. This is the reason it is also called Colloid. The egg Albumins come from the eggs that form lyophilic sols when mixed with cold water. If the mixtures and the impurities are stable, the sols will not get disturbed and will have the medium phase of dispersants. The same can be depicted from a simple experiment.

Procedure

- Break down the hard shell of the egg using the glass road of the apparatus.
- You will see the yellow part and the colorless liquid in the form of albumin water. You need to color that albumin water and transfer the colorless liquid into another beaker.
- Take a new beaker of 250ML and pour around 100 ML of NaCl solution which must be equal to 5% of the solution.
- Burst the albumin and mix it with the initial solution or sodium chloride solution that you have prepared in that 250ML beaker.
- Continuously stir the solution or the mix for 20 minutes unless you are sure that the egg albumins are prepared in the water and the sols are also made.
- Once the solutions are segregated, filter the substance into a fresh beaker using filter paper and a funnel.
- Once the filtration is done, label the same as easily as possible so that the proper identification can be made in the future.

- When using the apparatus for the experiment make sure that the same is cleaned with distilled water and you have dried it properly.
- While preparing the egg albumin sol never uses normal water. Instead, always prefer using distilled water for the same.
- Prepare the egg albumin sol at room temperature.
- Segregate the album in a yolk only after mixing the same with sodium chloride and not before such mix.
- The egg albumin sol will not be prepared in the beaker if the mix is not constantly stirred for 20 minutes.

- The colorless liquid within the egg is called egg albumin and the yellow part is known as the yolk.

- Hot water does not have a good reaction to the creation of lyophilic sol. Therefore only cold water is used to have a stable and unaffected reaction of the impurities.

It does not have many groupings with the liquid and therefore is known as the liquid hating sols.
Lyophilic Sols
These solvents have good coordination with the liquid and they get dissolved in such liquid very easily. The medium is firmly attached to the solution and thus the phase is dispersed solvents.

Ans. Coldwater will help in transferring into the sols. It helps in maintaining the stability of the nature of egg albumin. The traces of impurities will not affect the experiment. Gel- The gel is the third and the mean kind of colloidal system that has the solid dispersion phase and the medium used is liquid. An example of such a combination is rubber, toothpaste, cheese, and even gelatin.
Sol- Sol is the 4th form of colloidal system that can be extracted from this experiment. The dispersion phase used here is solid while the medium is liquid. For example mud, blood, and paint can be used as such a medium.
Emulsion- The emulsion is another form of colloidal system that has liquid as dispersion phase and the medium used here is also liquid. For example milk, coffee can be used as medium and phase.

Ans. The solutions obtained from such preparation are impure. The impurities can disturb the colloids and the suspended particles. The electrolytes are generally small in concentration and thus stabilize the sol. If the concentration is higher than the sol does not get prepared. Therefore, colloids solution must be pure or if impure it must be purified by using electrolyte effects. Some common methods used for such verification are dialysis, electrodialysis, ultracentrifugation, and ultrafiltration.

Ans. Separating the egg yolk from the egg albumin is the major and primary step in the extraction. Always prefer using a narrow tube for extracting the liquid into different beakers. It will also help in measuring the liquids which you are extracting. If the sodium chloride is mixed with the album and stirred for a long 20 minutes then the extraction process becomes easier.
