Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

History curriculum was comprehensive, covering entire indian history and in last year you will also study european history. political science syllabus is also holistic and covers everything in detail like types of government systems, global politics, contemporary politics. these both subjects will help you in competitive exams preparations. Teaching method of some professors is very good while some teach average. professors could have interactive classes through small and interesting debates and assignments. Exams are conducted in the end of every semester. exam level is moderate. if you have been regular to classes and analysed previous year papers then you will find exams very easy.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

although i didnt do any internship due to lockdown but delhi university provides internship in good companies. every college has a placement cell which will take care of this aspect. students get roles like content writer, video editor, marketing team member etc. du provides as much as $3000 each student as stipend.

Placement Experience

1.5

i dont have much information regarding placements as my course was BA. but DU does provide good placements in commerce. there are many internship opportunities for students from every department. they will keep you updated in college groups. i am preparing for competitive exams after my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

so fee in delhi university is not so high. my course fee was around 7000 per year. it doesnt change frequently. my whole graduation was done in just 20,000 rupees. but cost of living in delhi is high, around 9000 per month. no scolarship was provided. i was general secretary of my college and a part pf students union. that experience helped me to handle pressure and work more efficiently.

Campus Life

3.5

in delhi university every year a grand college fest is organised which is a 2-3 days event. it includes so many programmes and a star night in which a celebrity singer performs in your college like shreya ghoshal, sunidhi chauhan etc. alongwith that every department of the college has its own fest organised once a year. libraries are extensive and really good. every book you can get here. if some books are not available, then you can go to other college's libarary too. and additonally professors also provide online readings. not all colleges have technological facilities in every classroom. but every college has an auditorium, a theatre. a wide range of sports activities are held. there are teams for every sport with a dedicated coach. they participate in state and national level. every college has societies like fashion, fine arts, music, dance, entrepreneship, business, acting etc. also ncc and nss is there. there are social groups by students with physical and mental health.

Admission

I opted for BA programme (history + political science). admission process was offline in 2019 but now it has become online too which is flexible. first, you need to fill an application form online and take print out. for processing your admission you have to go to your college and there volunteers and teachers will help you further. they helped me a lot and i didn't face any problem. in the office some documents will be required like- application form,12th marksheet, 10th marksheet, certificate of migration, aadhar card. earlier in delhi university admissions were done through cut off but now entrance test is conducted under CUET every year in the months of may-june, both for ug and pg. the only difficulty in admission process was that website sometimes doesn't work properly. you don't have to panic. keep patience and contact your respective college if anything wrong takes place. my delhi university experience says that eventually everything works right.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
