Lambton College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Indian applicants must meet program-specific academic thresholds plus a Lambton-accepted English language test at or above the stated minimum.

  • PG (Graduate Certificate) academic requirement: Bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 from a recognised Indian university (recommended); documented alignment between the bachelor’s field and the chosen graduate certificate.
  • UG (Diploma) academic requirement: Class 12 with 55% or above from CBSE, ICSE or any recognised state board (recommended); math or science prerequisites for STEM diplomas.
  • English language minimum: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5; TOEFL iBT 79 (0-120 legacy scale); PTE Academic 59; Duolingo English Test accepted (score confirm at official page).
  • Credential verification: WES ICAP evaluation for all secondary and post-secondary transcripts, uploaded during the online application.

Note: Indian applicants who studied at an English-medium school from Class 8 to Class 12 may qualify for an IELTS waiver at Lambton College, subject to program approval, and this route is worth confirming at the official admissions page before booking a test slot.

Lambton College Acceptance Rate 2027

Lambton College reports an acceptance rate of 83% (estimated), placing it among the more accessible Ontario public colleges for qualified Indian applicants. The figure is derived from Collegedunia’s aggregated intake data and is not published as an official statistic by the college.

The high headline rate reflects Lambton’s mandate as a public college with broad access, but program-level selectivity varies. Practical Nursing, Cyber Security and AI and Machine Learning fill early each cycle and effectively close before the published deadline.

Reality check: The 83% rate applies to applicants who meet the minimum academic and English thresholds, so Indian applicants who submit incomplete files, weaker transcripts or below-minimum IELTS scores still face rejection despite the headline number looking generous.

[Source: Collegedunia Sarnia cost estimate for international students]

Insider note: Sarnia shared rooms currently list at CAD 500 to CAD 700 per month against CAD 1,200 or higher for a comparable Toronto listing, and this single line item is the main reason Indian applicants save close to CAD 8,000 a year by choosing the Sarnia base over Lambton’s Toronto or Mississauga campuses.

Lambton College Campus, Facilities and Student Life

Lambton College’s Sarnia main campus sits at 1457 London Road where Lake Huron meets the St. Clair River, with satellite teaching campuses in Mississauga, Toronto and Ottawa serving international cohorts.

  • Location and transport: Sarnia is a 3-hour drive from Toronto and 90 minutes from Detroit; local Sarnia Transit buses connect the campus to student housing zones for a monthly pass under CAD 90.
  • Housing: Campus residence is available but not guaranteed for international students; most Indian students rent shared off-campus rooms in the CAD 500 to CAD 700 band.
  • Notable facilities: The Suncor Sustainability Centre, Skilled Trades Training Centre and Cestar Group Athletics Complex anchor hands-on labs and student athletics on the Sarnia campus.
  • Indian student community: Indian applicants form the largest international cohort at Lambton College, with active on-campus student clubs supporting Diwali, Holi and Vaisakhi celebrations each year.

What Indian students say: Sarnia feels smaller and quieter than Toronto or Brampton but the trade-off is meaningfully lower rent and easier part-time job access; the Toronto and Mississauga campuses offer bigger-city networks but at Ontario tuition ranges that erase most of Sarnia’s cost advantage.

Lambton College Rankings 2027

Lambton College is not ranked in the QS, Times Higher Education, US News or ARWU global tables because these bodies rank universities rather than public colleges, but it is placed by Collegedunia’s Study Abroad list and by Research Infosource’s college research index.

Research Infosource ranked Lambton College #2 in Ontario and #3 nationwide among medium-sized Canadian colleges for research income in the 2023 edition, per the body’s Top 50 Research Colleges list.

Key insight: For Indian applicants the practical measure at a public college is Designated Learning Institution status and Post-Graduation Work Permit eligibility, both of which Lambton holds; the absence of a QS number does not affect study-permit approval or PGWP outcomes.

Lambton College Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Lambton College graduates record strong short-term employment outcomes driven by embedded co-op semesters and Ontario employer partnerships.

  • Employment within 6 months of graduation: 79.7% (2022-23 KPI reporting); some cohorts to 88%.
  • Co-op placements: 1,240 co-op positions available annually; 1,214 students placed in 2023.
  • Average co-op wage: CAD 24.68 per hour (INR 1,697 per hour).
  • Employer satisfaction: 85% employer satisfaction with Lambton graduates.
  • Post-study work: Graduates of eligible PGWP-designated Lambton programs qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit of up to 3 years under IRCC rules.

Insider note: Indian graduates of Lambton’s Cyber Security, AI and Machine Learning and Supply Chain streams most frequently place with Southwestern Ontario tech and logistics employers on 12-month co-op-to-hire pathways before pursuing PR through the Canadian Experience Class.

Lambton College vs Peer Universities

The peer set below compares Lambton College against three Ontario public colleges Indian applicants most often cross-shop, plus one urban outlier.

InstitutionCollegedunia Study Abroad 2026Avg Annual PG Fee (CAD / INR lakh)Differentiator
Lambton College#46 of 116 in CanadaCAD 22,772 to 30,238 / 15.65 to 20.79 lakhLowest-cost base city among comparable Ontario public colleges.
Conestoga CollegeNACAD 18,000 to 22,000 / 12.37 to 15.12 lakh (estimated)Highest international enrolment in Ontario public colleges.
Fanshawe CollegeNACAD 17,000 to 21,000 / 11.69 to 14.43 lakh (estimated)Broader UG portfolio and larger London ON city base.
Sheridan CollegeNACAD 19,000 to 25,000 / 13.06 to 17.19 lakh (estimated)GTA location with animation and design specialisations.
Humber CollegeNACAD 19,500 to 24,000 / 13.40 to 16.50 lakh (estimated)Toronto campus network with the deepest degree portfolio.

Lambton stands out on cost of living rather than sticker tuition; a Sarnia base saves roughly CAD 500 per month on rent versus a comparable Toronto or Mississauga listing. That single line item drives the strongest published Indian-applicant ROI in this peer set for two-year graduate certificates.

Lambton College fits Indian applicants who want a PGWP-eligible Ontario public college pathway at the lowest published cost of living in the peer set, and who value co-op placement over global brand recognition. Total two-year investment sits near INR 32 lakh against a national college-graduate median starting salary near CAD 48,000 per year, giving a defensible break-even inside the Post-Graduation Work Permit window through the Canadian PGWP pathway.

It is not the right pick for Indian applicants seeking a QS-ranked degree, research-track master’s or a Toronto downtown base; a stronger alternative for that profile is Conestoga College, which offers deeper GTA proximity and a broader honours degree track for graduates targeting global tech employers.

Lambton College FAQs

Ques. Which Lambton College graduate certificates admit Indian students without GRE or GMAT?

Ans. All Lambton College graduate certificates admit Indian applicants without a GRE or GMAT score requirement. Admission is decided on the bachelor’s transcript, English test score (IELTS 6.0 minimum) and program-specific prerequisites. This applies across Cyber Security, AI and Machine Learning, DevOps for Cloud Computing, International Business and Supply Chain Management streams offered at the Sarnia and Ottawa campuses.

Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at Lambton College?

Ans. Yes. Indian students holding a valid Canada study permit may work up to 24 hours per week off campus during academic terms under 2026 IRCC rules and full-time during scheduled breaks. Lambton’s Career Services team assists with on-campus roles that do not consume study-permit hours. Off-campus retail, warehouse and hospitality jobs are the most common part-time roles for Indian students in Sarnia and Mississauga.

Ques. What documents does Lambton College accept in place of IELTS?

Ans. Lambton College accepts TOEFL iBT 79, PTE Academic 59, Duolingo English Test and Cambridge English scores as alternatives to IELTS 6.0. Indian applicants who completed Class 8 to Class 12 in fully English-medium instruction may qualify for a case-by-case IELTS waiver on request, subject to program approval. Nursing and healthcare programs typically require the standard IELTS score with no waiver route available.

Ques. How much is the Lambton College application fee for Indian students?

Ans. The Lambton College international application fee is CAD 100 per program application in the 2026-27 cycle, submitted online through the college’s international applicant portal. The fee is non-refundable and does not count toward the tuition deposit. Indian applicants applying to multiple programs pay the fee each time; there is no combined multi-program discount currently published on the international admissions page.

Ques. Which Indian banks approve education loans for Lambton College tuition?

Ans. Major Indian public and private lenders including SBI, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Credila, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Avanse routinely sanction education loans for Lambton College’s Designated Learning Institution programs. Loan amounts up to INR 40 lakh unsecured are commonly approved for graduate certificates on a co-applicant income basis. Applicants should carry the Letter of Acceptance and program fee schedule to expedite branch-level sanction.

Ques. Does Lambton College offer conditional offers to Indian applicants?

Ans. Yes. Lambton College issues conditional Letters of Acceptance to Indian applicants who meet academic requirements but have not yet submitted a valid English test score. The applicant must upload the accepted IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo score before the tuition deposit deadline to convert the conditional offer into an unconditional one. Delayed English scores are the single most common reason Indian conditional offers lapse.

Ques. What is the minimum GIC and financial proof for a Lambton College study permit?

Ans. Indian applicants must show a Guaranteed Investment Certificate of CAD 20,635 with a Canadian bank for the 2026-27 cycle under IRCC’s Student Direct Stream, plus proof of first-year tuition paid to Lambton College. Additional bank balance covering INR 6 to 10 lakh strengthens the study-permit file. The GIC amount is revised each January, so Indian applicants targeting Fall 2027 should reconfirm the value before deposit.

Ques. Are Lambton College Toronto and Mississauga campus programs PGWP eligible?

Ans. Public-private partnership campus programs at Toronto and Mississauga are subject to IRCC’s post-2024 PGWP rule changes; several such campuses across Ontario lost PGWP eligibility in 2024. Indian applicants must verify the specific program’s Designated Learning Institution status and PGWP eligibility on the IRCC list before deposit. The Sarnia and Ottawa main campuses remain fully PGWP eligible for qualifying two-year graduate certificates.

  • There are 3 campuses:
    • Lambton, Toronto
    • Lambton, Sarnia
    • Lambton, Mississauga
  • Facilities such as the Indian canteen, tim hortons, the library, and the medical and IT facilities. Different kinds of labs. Gym for students (free). And more.
  • Every festival is celebrated on campus. Majorly like Canada Day, Christmas, Diwali and more.
  • The student forms teams or groups to facilitate the event. For example, once they celebrated the Philippines independence day.

Fees

  • For my program:
    • Each semester was around $8000 with $500 variable. This includes all, the student support fees, co-op guidance fees and misc.
    • And the last semester, in my case, the WIL project had a fee of $2700.
    • For the first year, the whole fee has to be paid in advance, even before reaching CANADA, and then the student can pay by semester as well. Or you can look for scholarship or tuition fee aid/assistance.
  • For a single person, away from college accommodation, $500-$700/month could be an average rent (sharing a room with one other person). Single room rent can go as high as $1100/month. All of these prices include utilities, not wifi. Like water, gas, and electricity.
  • For transportation, students are eligible to get a TTC pass, which costs around $130/month. In that way, students can travel unlimited times on the TTC vehicles.
  • Regular expense: if you order food, I am a vegetarian so prices could be between $30 and $50 for a one-time meal. Quantity is generous.

  • They have a total of 3 campuses. main is in Sarnia, which is the best.
  • If you want to study at Lambton College, you should go to Sarnia Campus. As I was at the Toronto campus. I can't comment on the other campuses.
  • As far as the Toronto campus is concerned, it's not that big. They have a small Gym, but nobody uses it. Apart from a good convocation ceremony, they did not offer any extracurricular activities.
  • I would again say that overall experience in terms of the Toronto campus was average.

Overview

So, my first reason for choosing this course was the cost it was the cheapest among all colleges, and they had a coop for last semester. So, I saved money for the last semester as I didn't have to pay fees to them due to coop.

My college organizes a lot of events because of the multi-culture every festival or important day is celebrated here. For example, Independence Day for India, the Philippians, and the Jamaicans. Secondly, the infrastructure is not bad, Lambton College has its own 2 buildings both of them have a lot of facilities, like Tim Horton, Canteen, Gym, Yoga room, Counselling facilities, Library etc.

I would recommend this college to other people to also come and study at this college.
