Ants are insects belonging to the family Formicidae. Ant sting causes pain and burning on the skin. The pain caused by ant sting is less than that of a bee sting. One may also feel Itching if an ant stings and it can last for a few hours.

The acid present in ant sting is formic acid (methanoic acid). The chemical formula is HCOOH.

To get relief from the discomfort caused by the ant sting, one can follow these common methods:

Wash the affected area with soap and water to remove any dirt and bacteria.
Apply a cold compress, such as a clean cloth soaked in cold water or ice wrapped in a towel, to reduce swelling and pain.
Apply baking soda on the affected area.
