MAH CET Exam Pattern: Past 5 Years Trends & Analysis

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH-CET) is an entrance test conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra. The exam is conducted for admission to MBA and MMS courses to around 400 state institutes. Approximately 1 lakh candidates register for the 45000 seats available in various B-Schools of Maharashtra.

Discussed below is the pattern, analysis and trends observed in MAH CET over the past 5 years. This will help candidates prepare better for the next session of the exam.

Till 2015, there was no fixed number of questions from any of the sections. In 2016, DTE, Maharashtra had fixed the examination pattern. Now the reasoning consists 50% of the total questions (100 out of 200). The following table shows the current examination pattern:

MAH CET 2018 Detailed Analysis

Analyzing MAH CET 2018 examination, the difficulty level of the examination was higher than that of 2017. Further discussed is the sectional analysis of the examination.

Quantitative Aptitude:

  • The test consisted 23 questions based on Data Interpretation and 27 questions from Mathematics.
  • 27 questions based on Mathematics were from Arithmetic, Number System, Algebra, Geometry, Modern Mathematics and Data Sufficiency.  
  • Questions were difficult to moderate.

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension:

  • This section was time-consuming and was tougher as compared to previous year.
  • It had two reading comprehensions. Other questions were inference based, cloze test, error detection and sentence correction.
  • The vocabulary section included synonyms, antonyms and one-word substitution.

Logical Reasoning:

  • This section has the highest weightage among all sections.
  • It had questions based on verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
  • The section was tricky and time consuming.
  • Questions were based on Syllogism, Analogy, Series, Cause & Effect, Statement & Conclusion, etc.

Abstract Reasoning:

  • The abstract reasoning section included questions based on Visual Reasoning and alphabetical series.
  • The section was easier when compared to other sections of the test.

Highlights of MAH CET 2018 Result

  • A whopping 106448 candidates registered for MAHCET 2018.
  • 98606 (92.6%) candidates actually took the test.
  • There are 14 candidates who have scored 99.99 percentile in the score range of 165 to 149. No candidate scored a 100 percentile.
