What is IIT JAM Application Form 2027?

IIT JAM 2027 Eligibility Criteria (Before You Apply)

Note: Qualifying in IIT JAM 2027 is necessary but not sufficient for admission. How to Fill IIT JAM Application Form 2027

Apply through the JOAPS (JAM Online Application Processing System) portal at jam.iitkgp.ac.in. There is no offline application mode. The window is open until October 19, 2026. Follow the two-phase process below.

Phase 1: New Registration on JOAPS

1. Visit jam.iitkgp.ac.in and click "Enroll / JOAPS" to begin a new registration.
2. Enter your name (exactly as on your Class 10 certificate), date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
3. Verify your mobile number with the OTP sent via SMS and your email via the confirmation link sent to your inbox.
4. JOAPS will generate an Enrolment ID — note it down immediately along with the password you set. This ID is your login for all future stages: admit card, result, and admission.
5. Save your Enrolment ID and password securely. JOAPS has limited account-recovery options if these are lost.

Phase 2: Fill the Application Form

1. Log in to JOAPS at jam.iitkgp.ac.in using your Enrolment ID and password.
2. Fill in your personal details: name, date of birth, gender, category (General / OBC-NCL / EWS / SC / ST / PwD), and nationality.
3. Fill in your academic details: qualifying degree name, institution, year of passing (or expected year), subjects studied, and marks obtained.
4. Select your test paper(s) — one or two. If choosing two papers, select one from the forenoon session (CY, GG, MA) and one from the afternoon session (BT, EN, MS, PH). Additional fee applies for the second paper.
5. Choose up to three exam city preferences in descending order of preference for each paper.
6. Upload your photograph and signature in the required format and size (see Documents section below).
7. Upload your category certificate (OBC-NCL/EWS dated on or after April 1, 2026; or SC/ST/PwD certificate from a competent authority) if you are claiming a fee concession.
8. Review all details carefully — especially your name, date of birth, category, test paper selection, and uploaded files — before proceeding to payment.
9. Pay the application fee via debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, or wallet.
10. Download and save your confirmation page (PDF) immediately from your JOAPS dashboard. Print it and keep it safe — it is required for admit card download, exam entry, and admission counselling.

Keep the following documents ready in digital format before you start filling the IIT JAM 2027 application form on JOAPS. All uploads are digital — no physical submission is required at any stage.

Note: Upload a recent passport-size photograph taken after April 2026, with a white or light-coloured background and at least 80% of your face clearly visible. Do not upload edited, filtered, mobile-selfie, or studio-retouched photographs — IIT Kharagpur rejects low-resolution and manipulated images during document scrutiny, which can result in your application being marked defective.

IIT JAM Application Fee 2027

The IIT JAM 2027 application fee depends on your category and the number of test papers you choose. The fee is payable online only through JOAPS. IIT Kharagpur has published the following official fee structure at jam.iitkgp.ac.in/appfees.html.

Payment is accepted via: Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, and Wallets. Any applicable bank or payment gateway charges are borne by the student. No offline payment (demand draft, cheque, or cash) is accepted.

Correction fee: Any change made during the correction window — to test paper, category, gender, exam city, or date of birth — attracts a ₹300 processing charge plus any applicable fee difference, paid online at the time of correction.

The application fee is non-refundable — even if you withdraw your application or do not appear for the exam on February 14, 2027.

IIT JAM Application Form Correction 2027

After registration closes on October 19, 2026, IIT Kharagpur is expected to open a form correction window around November 10–17, 2026 (tentative). This is your only opportunity to fix errors in your submitted IIT JAM 2027 application — corrections are not accepted through any other channel once the window closes.
