Vomiting is the way by which a body throw out the things which are not settled or digested.

⦿ When a stomach can not digest any solid or liquid portion of meals, it reacts and get rid of undigested stuff by vomiting them throw out from mouth

⦿ Such reaction can be caused by infection, food poisoning or by poor hygiene practice.

⦿ Vomiting is the forceful expulsion of the contents of the stomach and sometimes the small intestine through the mouth.

⦿ It is a natural reflex that helps the body to get rid of harmful substances or irritants in the digestive system.

Vomit is a forceful discharge of undigested stomach contents. 

⦿ Sometimes due to infection in the intestine or some less hygienic food, the contents can not be settled right in the stomach.

⦿ Stomach reacts with this stuff and throws it out forcefully from the mouth.

⦿ If the consumed food is digested well then it will be excreted by the excretion of stool system but it is not getting digested in the stomach, it will vomit out the whole.

Vomiting can be caused by many reasons. Some are listed below

  1. Infection in the stomach- If your stomach has a certain infection like an inflamed valve then it will hinder digestion and force the food to get discharged.
  2. Any unhygienic meal can cause infection in intestine and cause your stomach to vomit out
  3. Motion sickness- Generally, people feel like vomiting while traveling in a bus or car or even at an amusement park while they wish to enjoy rides. It is known as motion sickness.
  4. Side effect of medication- If a person is having frequent vomiting issues then it may be because of any ongoing medication or treatment. Some higher dosage of medicines may cause vomit or it includes side effect like nausea.

Vomiting in infants is more common than in adults as their digestion system is not habituated to digest certain types of food or liquids. Some babies also have milk intolerance

Vomiting in babies can be of three types

  1. Possetting- It is not as serious as other events of vomiting because it is a type of discharge that happens when a baby vomits up small amounts after feeding.
  2. Reflux- it is a common type where a valve of the stomach accidentally opens and contents of the stomach move back towards the food pipe. However, it doesn't harm the babies and the issue gets resolved by the time the baby walks.
  3. Projectile vomiting- this happens when a baby vomits the content in a forceful way. If this happens after every feed, one may need to consult a doctor.

If one gets the vomit or nausea like feeling because of motion sickness, they can consume lemonade or some mints to feel better. the vomiting is arose from digestion, infection or any side effects then certain medicines can help you to get recovered,

Post-vomit treatment

Once the vomiting is done, one needs maintain a healthy liquid intake i.e. lemonade, fresh glucose or just pure water with salt. Fruit juice also can help to be rehydrated.

⦿ Person may get dehydrated after vomiting, hence it is necessary to rehydrate.

⦿ If the vomiting occurs frequently, one should consult a doctor and not take any medicine until the doctor prescribes. 

Vomiting a food mixed with little amount of blood is a serious problem that needs immediate attention of the doctor.

⦿ Vomiting of blood can be due to ruptured blood vessels in the throat or any internal organ injury.

⦿ Therefore, a person must go to the doctor immediately after witnessing blood in vomit
