WBJEE Counselling 2018: The online process of WBJEE counselling 2018 is expected to begin from June 12, 2018. Candidates need to pay INR 500 to take part in counselling. WBJEE counselling will be held in 3 rounds where the candidates need to fill the choices based on the priority and lock them in the first round itself. The result has been released at wbjeeb.in on May 23.

Seats in the first round will be allocated based on candidates’ rank, preferred choices and seat availability. For the remaining rounds, seats will be allocated based on the vacant seats of the previous round. Counselling process for WBJEE and JEE Main will be held together with the minor difference in dates.

As the initial step, candidates need to register themselves to take part in counselling. After registration, candidates need to fill the choices within stipulated time period and lock them. In case, the choices are not locked, they will automatically be locked after the time period is over.
After the choices of registered candidates for e-counselling 2018 are locked, the total number of seats (almost 36000) present with the board will be allotted to such candidates based on their rank and choices. After the seat allotment, candidates need to report to the corresponding reporting centres. For the second round, the list of vacant seats is generated.
In this round, the left-over seats are allotted to un-allocated candidates. The choices are also upgraded for the candidates. The candidates here, need not report to Reporting Centers if they do not want to change their choices. Just like round 1, the list of vacant seats is generated for the last round.
Eligibility Criteria for second round of counselling
Group–I: Registered candidates who have not got any seat in the first round of counselling.
Group-II: Registered candidates who got a seat in the first round of counselling and visited the reporting center but the allotted seat was cancelled due to non-fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
Group–III: Registered candidates who were allotted a seat in the first round of counselling, reported to the reporting centre, completed admission formalities and also submitted willingness ‘Yes’ for up-gradation in further rounds of counselling.
Group–IV: Candidates who were allotted a seat in the first round of counselling, reported to the reporting centre, completed admission formalities and submitted willingness ‘No’ for up-gradation. The allotted seat for such candidates would be retained in the same category or in the upgraded category.
Non-Eligible for second round of counselling
The seat is alloted to un-allocated candidates along with choice upgradation. The candidates here, need not report to Reporting Centers if they do not want to change their choices.
WBJEE Counselling 2018 would involve centralized computer-based choice filling and seat allotment process. After completion of each round of seat allotment, candidates are required to report for document verification and submission of tuition fee for provisional admission.
The WBJEE counselling procedure is entirely same for both WBJEE qualifiers and JEE main AIR holders. It can be divided broadly into 5 stepsfor a candidate to gain admission in their preferred course and institute. These steps are –
Note: Candidates, must make sure that they enter all the required information correctly and also check twice before completion of registration process. As, once the registration is done, candidates will not be able to make any changes to details like category, PwD status, TFW status, state of domicile, gender, religion etc. Registrations for WBJEE counselling 2018 will be allowed just once at the beginning of the first round.
After the choice filling process is over, the candidates will be allotted seats based on their ranks and preference. This process will also be carried online and the students will be required to check the seats allocated to them by logging into their accounts.
Key Points to Remember during Choice Filling:
It is necessary to understand that while filling the choices during the process, candidates have to make sure that they make the correct selection as the order of selection matters during seat allotment.
Candidates are advised to fill as many choices as they can, as there will be no restriction on it.
Before filling their choices, candidates can always make sure that they check the WBJEE cutoff to know their chances of entering the participating institutes.
Once choices are locked, candidates will not be allowed to make any changes thereafter.
Candidates must take a print out of the selected choices after confirming them for future reference.
The final step for the candidates should personally visit the institute that they have been allotted to them for completing admission formalities. In the case where the candidate is unable to report at the specified institute or fails to do so, the provisional admission of such candidate will be withdrawn.

After the seat allocation has been done in WBJEE Counselling 2018, candidates must report in-person at the Reporting Centre (RC) with all required documents. Here, the verification of these documents will take place and the candidate will be offered admission into an institute.
