WBJEE Counselling 2019 - Procedure, Schedule, Registration, Fee

WBJEE Counselling 2019 will begin post declaration of results in July 2019. A stipulated fee of INR 500 needs to be paid in order to participate in the counselling and admission procedure. 

  • The examination is scheduled for May 26, 2019 in offline (OMR) mode.
  • Interested candidates can apply online till January 22, 2019 at www.wbjeeb.in.
  • The counselling will be conducted in three rounds via online mode.

WBJEE Counselling #Facts

  • Counselling will be done based on GMR/ PMR rank.Read about WBJEE Merit List
  • Online registration is allowed only once in 1st round of counselling.
  • No fresh registration will be allowed in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of counselling.
  • Seats in the first round will be allocated based on candidates’ rank, preferred choices and seat availability.
  • For the remaining rounds, seats will be allocated based on the vacant seats of the previous round.
  • Counselling process for WBJEE and JEE Main will be held together with the minor difference in dates.

WBJEE Counselling on the basis of JEE Main

The candidates who wish to apply on the basis of their marks obtained in JEE Main 2019, can also participate in WBJEE counselling process. The schedule followed for such candidates is provided below.:

WBJEE Round wise Counselling Schedule

WBJEE counselling process will comprise of three rounds. In case the seats are left vacant, a fourth-round is conducted by the Board.

Registration for Counselling

As the initial step, candidates need to register themselves to take part in counselling. After registration, candidates need to fill the choices within the stipulated time period and lock them. In case, the choices are not locked, they will automatically be locked after the time period is over.

WBJEE Counselling: Round 1

After the choices of registered candidates for e-counselling are locked, the total number of seats (almost 36000) present with the board will be allotted to such candidates based on their rank and choices. After the seat allotment, candidates need to report to the corresponding reporting centres. For the second round, the list of vacant seats is generated.

In this round, the left-over seats are allotted to un-allocated candidates. The choices are also upgraded for the candidates. The candidates here, need not report to Reporting Centers if they do not want to change their choices.  Just like round 1, the list of vacant seats is generated for the last round.

Eligibility Criteria for second round of counselling

Group–I: Registered candidates who did not score any seat in Round 1.

Group-II: Registered candidates who got a seat in the Round 1 and visited the reporting center but the allotted seat was cancelled due to non-fulfillment of eligibility criteria.

Group–III: Registered candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 1, reported to the reporting centre, completed admission formalities and also submitted willingness ‘Yes’ for up-gradation in further rounds of counselling.

Group–IV: Candidates who were allotted a seat in Round 1, reported to the reporting centre, completed admission formalities and submitted willingness ‘No’ for up-gradation. The allotted seat for such candidates would be retained in the same category or in the upgraded category.

Non-Eligible for second round of counselling

  • Did not report to RC after seat allotment in first round.
  • Candidates reported but withdrew from RC.
  • Failure to conform the documents.

WBJEE Counselling: Round 3

The seat is allocated to un-allocated candidates along with choice upgradation. The candidates here, need not report to Reporting Centers if they do not want to change their choices.

What is the WBJEE Counselling Procedure?

WBJEE Counselling 2019 would involve centralized computer-based choice filling and seat allotment process. After completion of each round of seat allotment, candidates are required to report for document verification and submission of tuition fee for provisional admission.

The admission procedure is entirely same for both WBJEE qualifiers and JEE main AIR holders. It can be divided broadly into 5 stepsfor a candidate to gain admission in their preferred course and institute. These steps are –

  5. Confirmation and Admission

Step 1: Online Registration

  • The first step for the qualifiers is the Registration.
  • Visit the official website i.e. wbjeeb.nic.in and click on “New Candidate Registration”.
  • Furnish details such as WBJEE Roll Number, Application Form Number, Candidate Name, Date of Birth and a Security Pin.
  • After successful registration, an ID and password will be generated.
  • Note these login credentials for future use.
Note: Make sure to enter all the required information correctly. As, once the registration is done, you will not be able to make any changes to details.

Step 2: Choice Filling

  • This is the next step in the counselling procedure.
  • Log into your accounts using the ID and Password generated in the previous step.
  • After this, select the choice of participating colleges and courses.
  • Candidates must be careful to lock their final choices before the given dates specified in the table above.
  • The option to edit and submit the final choice will expire on the due date at 5:00 pm and the choices filled so far will be locked automatically.
  • Hence, students are advised to ensure that they have filled their choices carefully.

Step 3: Seat Allotment

After the choice filling process is over, the candidates will be allotted seats based on their ranks and preference. This process will also be carried online and the students will be required to check the seats allocated to them by logging into their accounts. Know more

Step 4: Reporting and Document Verification

  • Those candidates who have been allocated a seat will be required to physically report to the Reporting Centre (RC).
  • This is the next step in the counselling process and is mandatory.
  • Carry all the necessary documents to the centre.
  • The initial admission fee will also have to be paid at this stage.
  • The fee amount for TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver scheme) candidates is INR 4,000 and for University/Government Institute is INR 5,000 and for private institutions, it is INR 20,000.

Points to Remember during Choice Filling:

  • It is necessary to understand that while filling the choices during the process, make sure to make the correct selection as the order of selection matters during seat allotment.
  • Fill as many choices as you can, as there will be no restriction on it.
  • Before filling the choices, make sure to check WBJEE cutoff to know their chances of entering the participating institutes.
  • Once choices are locked, candidates will not be allowed to make any changes thereafter.
  • Candidates must take a print out of the selected choices after confirming them for future reference.

Step 5: Confirmation and Admission

The final step is to personally visit the allotted institute for completing admission formalities. In case, a candidate is unable to report at the specified institute or fails to do so, the provisional admission of such candidate will be withdrawn.

Choice Filling: Important Points

  • The candidates have the liberty to change the seats as many times as they can, but after the choices are locked, one cannot make any changes further.
  • The online portal will reflect only those seats which lies in the WBJEE counselling eligibility criteria of the candidates.
  • The aspirant has the right to make choices in the first round only.
  • The TWF (Tuition-Fee Waiver) have the right to apply for TWF as well as, general seats.

Change of Willingness

  • Candidates who have taken provisional admission in first round can change their willingness from “YES upgradation to “NO upgradation” but not vice-versa after the second round of allotment.
  • To change their willingness, candidates need to report at the same RC where the provisional letter was issued.

To change the willingness:

  • Candidates need to submit the provisional admission letter to the RC.
  • They have to fill and sign for change of option.
  • Recieve a modified letter from RC.

Refund of fee:

  • Candidates needs to report to the same RC from where the provisional letter was issued.
  • As per the rules of the board and refund rule of Ministry of Human Resource, the fee will be refunded.

WBJEE Reporting Centres

After the seat allocation has been done in WBJEE Counselling 2019, candidates must report in-person at the Reporting Centre (RC) with all required documents. Here, the verification of these documents will take place and the candidate will be offered admission into an institute.
