    WBJEE Board defines the eligibility criteria for candidates appearing in West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam. The minimum marks required in the qualifying exam are 45% for general category candidates. Failing to fulfill the required eligibility will raise chances of cancellation of your candidature at any stage of admission process.

    To appear for WBJEE 2021, the candidate must be an Indian citizen. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the WBJEE 2021. However, for Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years as on December 31, 2021.

    WBJEE 2021 is tentatively scheduled for February 2021. However, final exam date will be announced by the authorities on the official website. The exam will be conducted across 22 cities in India. The eligibility criteria may vary for different courses and institutes accepting WBJEE Scores.

    Age Limit for WBJEE 2021

    Candidates should have been born on or before December 31, 2003 to be eligible for all the courses offered through WBJEE 2021. The age limit for WBJEE for all the courses is defined below.

    • The lower age limit is 17 years as on December 31, 2021.
    • There is no upper age limit to apply for WBJEE 2021.
    • But for admission to Marine Engineering Course, the upper age limit is 25 years.

    WBJEE Eligibility 2021- Domicile/Residential Requirement 

    Candidate must be a citizen of India to appear for WBJEE 2021. Candidates from any state are eligible to apply. The domicile certificate will be applicable only for admission in government participating institutes and to claim Reservation

    1. There is no particular residential/domicile requirement to appear in WBJEE 2021.
    2. The state domicile requirement is applicable for any seat under Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW).  
    3. The candidate will be treated as the domicile of West Bengal who is either: Residing in West Bengal since last 10 years by December 12, 2019 or whose parent(s) is/are resident(s) and having a permanent address within the State of West Bengal.

    General Academic Qualifications for admission to Engineering/Pharmacy Courses are defined below:

    For Engineering​

    • ​Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects with 45%.
    • Marks required for reserved category is 40% in all the three subjects taken together.
    • Candidates must have passed English in +2 with at least 30% marks.
    • The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by Central Government or State Government.

    For Pharmacy

    • Passed class 12 examination with Physics and Chemistry along with any one of Mathematics / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects.
    • Must have obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B/OBC-C/PwD in all the 3 subjects taken together.
    • Passed English in class 10+2 exam with at least 30% marks.
    • The board of the said qualifying exam must be recognized either by Central Government or State Government.

    University of Calcutta

    All available Courses except Jute & Fibre Technology

    • Pass 10+2 from a recognized Council/Board in a regular class mode with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks (55% marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD). 
    • Pass marks in English with a minimum of 30% marks in the said qualifying examination.

    Jute & Fibre Technology

    • Pass 10+2 from any recognised Council/Board in regular class mode with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology as compulsory subjects with at least 45% marks (40% marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD)
    • Pass marks in English with a minimum of 30% in the said qualifying examination.

    Jadavpur University (Faculty of Engineering & Technology)

    All available courses including Bachelor of Pharmacy and 5-Year degree course in Architecture

    • Pass 10+2 from a recognized Council/Board in a regular class mode with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks (45% marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD). 
    • Minimum 60% (45% for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) marks in Mathematics.
    • Pass marks in English with a minimum of 30% in the said qualifying examination.

    Additional requirement for 5-Year Degree Course in Architecture

    Must qualify either in NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture or in the Paper 2 of JEE Main.

    West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences B. Tech (Dairy Technology) course

    • Pass 10+2 from a recognized Council/Board in a regular class mode with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
    • Must have obtained at least 50% marks (40% marks for ST, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English taken together.
    • Candidates of other boards/Councils (10+2) level passed from institutions in West Bengal will be considered provided that they are domicile in West Bengal.

    Neotia University

    B.Tech courses in B.Pharma Course

    • Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/ Computer Sc. as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks taken together.

    B.Tech Courses in Other Engineering Branches

    • Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 60% mark taken together.

    B.Tech course in Marine Engineering

    • Pass ‘10+2’ or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 60% marks taken together and at least 50% marks in English.

    Aliah University

    • Candidates must have taken PCM having at least 100 marks in total in each subject of the final examination (10+2)
    • At least 60% overall in PCM taken together in 12th level with individual pass marks in all three subjects in regular class mode. 

    Sister Nivedita University

    For admission in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering 

    • Minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics taken together with individual pass marks.
    • Minimum of 50% marks in English as a subject in either of ‘10’ standard or in ‘10+2’ standard.

    For admission in Computer Science and Business Systems (TCS-Industry Integrated)

    • 60% average in PCM and 60% aggregate in class 12 exam.

    The course-wise specific special WBJEE Eligibility Criteria are mentioned below:

    Degree in Marine Engineering

    The following requirements are applicable to the Marine Engineering Course in any of the participating institutions.

    • Pass 10+2 with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics took together with individual pass marks. 
    • Minimum of 50% marks in English as a subject in either of ‘10’ standard or in ‘10+2’ standard.

    5-Year Degree Course in Architecture

    The following requirements are applicable for the 5-year degree course in Architecture in any of the participating institutions except the Jadavpur University.

    • As per the norms and standards of the Council of Architecture (COA): No candidate with less than 50% marks in aggregate shall be admitted to the B.Arch course unless they have passed an examination at the end of new ‘10+2’ scheme of Senior School Certificate Examination or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject of examination at the 10+2 level.
    • Candidate must also qualify either in the NATA conducted by the COA or in Paper 2 of JEE Main.

    Ans. No, the minimum age required to appear in the exam is 17 years.     Ques.  I am residing in West Bengal since last 7 years. Am I eligible for the state reservation?

    Ans. No, the candidate must be a resident for 10 years or his/her parents must have a permanent residence in West Bengal. 

    Ques.  I am from Delhi. Am I eligible to apply for WBJEE?

    Ans. Yes, you can apply for the exam but you will not be able to get the reservation. You will be treated as a general category student.

    Ques.  I have completed class 12th with 59% aggregate in PCM. Am I eligible to take admission in Marine Engineering?

    Ans. No, the minimum marks required for admission in Marine Engineering is 60% (in PCM) in class 12th but for admission in engineering courses the minimum marks required is 45% for general category and 40% for reserved category candidates.

    Hi Upasana, candidates applying for this exam must have passed intermediate with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Computer Science / Computer Application as compulsory subjects. Thus, Chemistry is not compulsory.
