CBSE Class 12 English Deleted Syllabus 2023-24 is provided in this article. There is a 30% reduction in Class 12 English Syllabus for the year 2023-24. Students can download the revised syllabus in a PDF file from the official website cbseacademic.nic.in.

CBSE has reduced topics from all the sections - Reading, Writing, and Literature. Topics like note-making, advertisements, posters, etc. have been deleted from the syllabus. Chapter 2 from Flamingo and Chapters 5 and 7 from Vistas are also completely removed from CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus 2023-24.

English theory paper consists of 80 marks and the remaining 20 marks are allotted to the internal assessment. To pass the exam, students have to score a minimum of 26 marks out of 80 in theory paper and 33 marks out of 100 marks overall in the subject.

Ques. Why did CBSE deleted Class 12 English Syllabus 2023-24?

Ans. CBSE decided to delete certain portions from CBSE Class 12 English Syllabus to promote high-order language skills and thinking in students that will help them in university and other professional levels. They consider certain reasons for this as follows:

  • The previous syllabus is outdated and consists of lesser important topics.
  • The new syllabus is designed to develop study skill and literary skills in the students.
  • Engage/Encourage more oral activities in the syllabus through the deletion of a few topics.

Ans. It depends upon the preparation and knowledge of the student but Section C is more scoring and easier than both the other section in the exam because you will be familiar with the Section C questions. This section carries 40 marks.

Ans. CBSE has prescribed two books for Class 12 English - Flamingo and Vistas. Students have to study from these books only. To prepare for writing and reading sections, students can refer to books like BBC Compacta.
