JEE ADVANCED 2018 RESERVATION
NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
JEE Advanced Reservation can be availed by candidates belonging to SC /ST /OBC (NCL)/ PwD / Defence Personnel categories in JEE Advanced. The category once submitted in IIT records, cannot be changed under any circumstances. Valid Proofs of eligibility need to be submitted in order to avail the reservation and have lower cutoffs for the rank lists.
Candidates appearing for JEE Advanced must take note of the following points:
a) Unoccupied seats under OBC-NCL will be shifted to OPEN or GENERAL seats
b) Unoccupied PwD seats under each category will be made open to other candidates under those categories
c) Unoccupied SC/ST seats cannot be shifted to other categories

Candidates should be among 2,24,000 in JEE Main Paper 1 to be eligible for JEE Advanced. The following table shows the order to be followed while choosing top 2,24,000* candidates in various categories:

Foreign nationals are outside the ambit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories.

Indian nationals belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL are admitted under the seats reserved for them under the rules and guidelines laid down by Government of India. The reservation matrix of seats (in percentage) is provided in the following table:

OBC (NCL) Candidates: Original and 1 attested photocopy of OBC-NCL category certificate (from the Central List available on www.ncbc.nic.in) required to be issued by the suitable authority in the format given below. The same is also available in JEE Advanced 2018 information brochure.
NOTE: The OBC certificate must be signed before June 01, 2018
Defence Service candidates are defined as children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action at war front or peacetime operations.

A decision has been taken at the level of the IIT Council to improve the gender balance in the undergraduate programs at the IITs. From 2018-19, 14% supernumerary seats will be reserved for female candidates. Earlier, the reservation for female candidates was approximately 8% of the total IIT seats. The supernumerary seats specifically for female candidates will be created without any reduction in the number of seats that were made available for non-female candidates.

Q.1 Is there sports quota at the IIT?
Ans. No. There is no sports quota for admission in IITs.
Q.2 What is the JEE Advanced reservation criteria for students applying from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh? Is there any reservation or specific quota for them?
Ans. Seats allotted to foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of the total number of seats in every course. Foreign nationals are outside the ambit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories as defined by Government of India.
Q.3 How many seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Defence Service?
Ans. 2 seats are reserved for preferential allotment at all the IITs for candidates belonging to Defence Service. To avail the benefit, the candidate needs to be listed in the Common Merit List released after the announcement of JEE Advanced Result.
