MAT Cutoff 2018 for PUMBA, Pune

The Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA), Savitribai Phule Pune University is one of the first Management Institutes in India. Established in year 1971, it is considered to be one of the best B-schools in the country.

  • PUMBAoffers three management programmes namely MBA++, MBA (Biotech) and Executive MBA.
  • Only MBA++ program accepts students through MAT/CAT /ATMA/XAT/MH-CET.
  • If you are applying through MAT, the minimum MAT Cutoff is 600/800.
  • Post the selection rounds, candidates will be called for a centralized MAT Counselling
  • Admission to nearly 600 MAT Colleges will be granted on the basis of marks scored in all selection rounds
  • Among the six hundred and more B-schools in the country (including the IIMs), the Department of Management Studies (PUMBA), Pune ranks 66.
  • MAT Result is declared by the conducting body, AIMA.

All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts Management Aptitude Test (MAT) which is a national level test for the admission to MBA/PGDM programs in the top B-schools of our country. It has been administered since 1988 to screen candidates for admission to MBA and allied programs.

The Management Aptitude Test is conducted quarterly every year and the cutoffs to the various institutes under AIMA varies each time. MAT 2018 is held in the month of February, May, September and December. Expected MAT Cutoff 2018 for PUMBA

The cutoffs for the various institutes have been decided and released by the AIMA. PUMBA strictly follows the DTE rules for its admission process of MBA++. As mentioned earlier, MBA++ is the only course out of the three PGDM courses in PUMBA that accepts students through MAT.

The decided MAT cutoff 2018 is 600 out of 800 for admission in PUMBA.

As per the past years’ analysis, this has been observed that MAT Cutoff for PUMBA have been stable and it is expected to be same for year 2018 as well. The total seat intake for MBA++ in PUMBA is 180.

PUMBA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria set by the institute in order to be eligible for the admission process.

  • In addition to MAT 2018 score, candidates must have secured a bachelor’s degree in with minimum 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA in any bachelors’ degree awarded by any University.
  • Relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belonging to reserved category.
  • Reserved category candidates need to provide their SC/ST/OBC certificate at time of verification to secure their seat at PUMBA.

MAT 2018 Selection Process

PUMBA admits students in its MBA++ programme through MAT. Hence, candidates need to be sure of Selection Process of MAT to successfully admit themselves for the process.

MAT Selection Process is as follows:

MAT 2018 is conducted in three stages:

  • Written Test
  • Group Discussion
  • Personal Interview

Institutes which accept MAT scores may conduct all three rounds of selection or in some cases, institutes conduct only two rounds.

Written test: It is an objective type test with multiple choice questions. The test is designed to measure the student’s aptitude in various fields namely,

  • Language Comprehension
  • Mathematical Skills
  • Data Analysis and Sufficiency
  • Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
  • Indian and Global Environment

The maximum mark is 200 and the time limit for the written test is 150 minutes.

Group Discussion: This is the second stage of MAT. The group discussion topics range from current affairs, political issues, abstract or any other field. Students need to perform well in this stage as it affects their overall score.

Personal Interview: The call letters for the selection process will be sent on the e-mail id provided in the application. A hard copy of the call letter will also be sent on the address provided in the application form. This is the last stage after which the candidate’s scores will be finalized.

The final score of the candidate is based on:

  • Profile based score
  • Entrance test scores (CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/MAT)
  • GD performance score
  • Personal Interview score

The final selection for MAT 2018 September exam list will be released on the first week of October in 2018(tentative).

NOTE: GD and PI rounds are conducted by the particular institutes after the candidates meet the cut off set by respective institutes.

MAT 2018 Cutoffs

Candidates need to check Cutoff for MAT to ensure their qualification in the exam. Shortlisted candidates will proceed towards the pre-admission rounds (Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT)) of the participating B-Schools. Post the selection rounds, candidates will be called for a centralized MAT Counselling.

If the candidate score above 500, He/she can be selected for any top B-School.
