MAT Eligibility 2020- Age limit and Qualifying Criteria

    MAT Eligibility Criteria as prescribed by All India Management Association allows candidates having bachelors degree in any stream from a recognised college/institute to appear for MAT 2020. AIMA has introduced Remotely Proctored Internet Based Test (IBT), candidates can opt to take the test from their homes considering COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing neccesity.     Latest Update: MAT IBT Mode Registration for September session has started, last date to register for phase 1 is August 23, 2020. Apply now

    • MAT 2020 September session notification for PBT and CBT Mode are expected to release in first week of August. Eligibility Criteria for MAT IBT Mode is the same as overall exam.
    • No age limit criteria is defined to appear for the exam. Thus, anybody over 40 years of age, can also take the exam without fretting about the count of attempts.
    • Eligibility criteria for MAT 2020 is different for management colleges accepting MAT score, thus candidates have to make sure they apply to colleges keeping the requirements in mind. 
    • Eligibility for MAT IBT mode is expected to remain the same only the mode of conduct for the exam will change.
    • At the time of form filling, aspirants can choose upto 5 colleges to send their MAT scores. Thus if their is any specific eligibility requirement of these colleges candidates should be aware before hand.

    Apart from age, percentile is also another criteria for admission in the management colleges in India, which remains high for the top colleges participating in MAT, i.e, around 650-700 out of 800.

    Academic Qualification

    • Candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university

    • There is no set minimum percentage required in graduation

    • Those appearing in the final year exams or waiting for results, are also eligible for MAT 2020

    • Incase of grades or CGPA, the percentage of marks calculation will be based on procedure certified by respective Institute in accordance with the participating management institute’s eligibility criteria.

    Age Limit

    There is no lower and upper age limit for MAT 2020 i.e. no age restriction

    Work Experience

    Work Experience is not mandate to apply for MAT 2020. If you are a fresher or working professional, you will be given equal opportunity.

    Number of Attempts

    There is no limit set for taking MAT. Therefore, candidates can appear for exam irrespective of their previous attempts.

    MAT 2020 Eligibility for IBT Mode

    Eligibility for MAT IBT mode is expected to the same, though candidates have to meet certain pre specified requirements.

    • Computer Requirements: A computer syatem with webcam to capture image.
    • Local server or Cache proxy in order to store test delivery information and temporary storing candidates result.
    • Operating System: Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
    • Browsers: Prefer using Microsoft Internet Explorer
    Note: As Windows 7 is not supported after December 31, 2019 in Microsoft support cycle, candidates cannot use this operating system to take the test.

    Internet connection: Broadband internet connection of speed 4Mbps and Upload speed of 1Mbps. A seperate device for LAN and internet is advised rather than an integrated devise. 

    Computer Specification for MAT IBT

    • Prefer a processor with 4 GB installed memory
    • Free memory of 1 GB
    • Free disk space should be 2 GB
    • Adapter of 1024x768 resolution
    • Webcam-logitech C270, C210, C170 and Microsoft VX800 are preferred

    MAT Eligibility Criteria 2020 FAQs

    Q.: Is there any age bar for MAT? Any Job experience required to appear in MAT?

    Ans: There is no age bar on appearing for MAT. A candidate can appear as many times as he wishes to. Also, it is not necessary to have a job experience before applying for the exam.

    Q.: I have not done my graduation, but I am in the final year of a professional course. Can I apply for MAT 2020?

    Ans: Yes, you can appear for MAT exam. But, you will be admitted on a provisional basis. Make sure you have your graduate degree in hand before the final admission is granted.

    Q.: Can a candidate take MAT for practice, even though if he is not eligible to apply?

    Ans. No, a candidate will not be allowed to take MAT without satisfying the eligibility criteria. Hence, he must make sure he satisfies all the conditions defined by AIMA.

    Q.: Am I eligible to apply for MAT 2020 if I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from Distance Learning?

    Ans. Yes, you are allowed to apply. Provided, the university must be government approved and you should fall under the eligibility norms of MAT 2020.

    Q.: Am I eligible to appear for CAT & MAT in the same year?

    Ans. Yes, you are allowed to do so. While CAT is conducted only once a year, you can appear for MAT all 4 times a year, as MAT is conducted 4 times and anyone can apply as many times as they wish  i.e. there is no restriction to number of attempts.

    Hi Nilima, as there is no upper age limit to apply for this exam, thus, you are still eligible to apply for MAT.
