The minimum eligibility criteria for a person to take admission in M. Tech. Software Engineering is that the person should have an undergraduate degree in the B. Tech. program from any of the recognized universities in India.
The admission process for taking admission to the course is through the entrance exam conducted by various universities and colleges across the country. The syllabus for the entrance exam usually consists of the topics covered in the undergraduate course of Software Engineering.
GATE- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an entrance exam conducted for admission to M. Tech programme. GATE scores are accepted by many colleges like National Institute of Technology, Patna and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. The exam has two sections namely Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude. It is carried out in the month of January or February.
Some universities like Amity University, Noida conduct their own examination for admission to M. Tech. programmes.
The students are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam conducted by the college. Once the student clears the entrance exam, he/she is called for the counseling session. During the counseling session, students are granted admission to various branches of engineering according to their ranks.
