CLAT 2027 eligibility requires UG applicants to have passed 10+2 with at least 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/PwD), with no upper age limit and no cap on the number of attempts.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 will be conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) for admission to five-year integrated LLB and one-year LLM programs across 24 National Law Universities in India. Knowing the exact eligibility conditions before you apply prevents disqualification at the document verification stage.

CLAT 2027 provides a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement for SC, ST, and PwD students at both the UG and PG levels. The table below shows the category-wise marks threshold.
| Category | UG Minimum Marks (10+2) | PG Minimum Marks (LLB) |
|---|---|---|
| General | 45% | 55% |
| OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) | 45% | 55% |
| EWS | 45% | 55% |
| SC | 40% | 50% |
| ST | 40% | 50% |
| PwD (Persons with Disability) | 40% | 50% |
The marks relaxation above applies only to the eligibility threshold. Seat reservation under each category is a separate process applied during CLAT 2027 counselling and seat allotment by the respective NLU.
Number of Attempts for CLAT 2027
There is no restriction on the number of attempts for CLAT 2027. The CNLU does not cap how many times a student can appear in the exam.
This means:
- If you appeared in CLAT 2025 or CLAT 2026 but did not secure your target NLU, you can attempt CLAT 2027 without any penalty.
- Students who completed their 10+2 several years ago are still eligible — there is no rule requiring you to apply within a certain number of years of passing Class 12.
- There is no gap year restriction. A gap between your 10+2 and CLAT application does not affect your eligibility.
- For PG, final year LLB students can use their current appearance as an attempt without waiting for the result.
