PSU Recruitment through CLAT: Candidates applying for PG (LLM) programs can also apply to Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) recruitment via CLAT. PSUs hire candidates as a Legal Executive Trainee, Assistant Legal Advisor, Trainee Legal Advisor. Each year the recruitment is done by independent PSU’s to hire officers to handle legal affairs of their enterprises.
The PSUs have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CLAT 2020 Office for using the exam score of PG students for recruitment purposes. Many students are aprehensive of the usage of CLAT score in PSU recruitment.
It is not necessary to appear for CLAT in order to get into a PSU. There are many PSUs that conduct their independent PI/GD rounds for recruitment. However, CLAT score can prove to be a smooth path for entry into PSU. In order to apply for PSU, candidates are required to apply separately at respective websites which will be active after the completion of exam in May, 2020.
Eligibility Criteria for applying to PSU:
A student applying for PSU needs to meet the minimum marks scored when applying for PG (LLM)- General/OBC: 55%; SC/ST/: 50%
For certain PSUs, a candidate may also be required to score 60% marks or above. It varies from PSU to PSU.
There’s no upper age limit for applying to PSU.
Minimum cut off prediction is tough at this hour, however, we can safely say a candidate needs to be in Top 30 in PG score for getting selected for PSU.
Note: PSU interview syllabus is not same as that of CLAT. Questions can come from varied fields. A candidate needs to be well-versed with daily matters that a PSU has to face like Company Law, Arbitration and Conciliation Act, Industrial Disputes Act, and general Current Affairs.
