    CLAT 2021 is a national level entrance examination for admission into National Law Universities(NLU’s), and the syllabus is set by the consortium of NLU’s. The CLAT UG syllabus broadly tests your legal aptitude and general ability. For CLAT PG, it tests the core skills you have learned during LLB. CheckCLAT 2021 Exam Calendar

    The syllabus for UG CLAT consists of 5 different subjects overall. Whereas CLAT PG will test the subjects only related to legal aspects. CLAT 2021 is a highly competitive exam with an acceptance rate of 3%. The total number of seats for UG in all the NLU’s is about 1,308 whereas for PG it is about 621.     CLAT 2021 Syllabus - Marks Distribution

    There was a change in the 2020 syllabus of CLAT due to COVID-19 restrictions. The syllabus for CLAT 2021 is expected to follow the same pattern as that of the CLAT exam held before 2020.     • Each correct answer will award you 1 mark and each wrong answer will cost you 0.25 marks in Section 1. 
    • In section 2, each Descriptive Question will be worth 25 marks. 
    • You will have to write an essay of 800 words related to any subject og UG Level. 

    CLAT 2021 Syllabus for English

    This section will consist of a few passages of around 450 words each. Each passage will be derived from culturally or historically significant fiction or nonfiction. The passages will be of Intermediate level(12th). The passages are also set in a manner that you will be able to read them in around 5 to 7 minutes. 

    You have to read the passages and answer the objective type questions that will be asked related to that passage. The English language section tests your comprehension and language skills. The kind of questions that may be for CLAT UG English are as follows:\

    • Reading and Comprehension: Focus on the main point of the passage, and the arguments and perspectives discussed. 
    • Inferences and Conclusion
    • Summarisation
    • Comparison and Contrast
    • Vocabulary

    CLAT 2021 Current Affairs Syllabus

    CLAT Current Affairs/general knowledge section will also consist of passages that are around 450 words each. The passages will be from contemporary news articles/Journalistic pieces of national, international, cultural and historical significance. The passages would not require any additional knowledge of law beyond the passage. 

    Questions can be asked from the current affairs from the period of March 2020 to April 2021, tentatively. The areas where the questions may come from in the CLAT Current Affairs section include:

    • History

    CLAT 2021 Syllabus for Legal Aptitude

    This section will also consist of a few passages of 450 words. The passages will describe factual or legal scenarios, based on which a few objective type questions will be asked. The core knowledge tested here is that of contemporary legal and moral knowledge and application of the same. 

    CLAT Legal Aptitude tests your knowledge in the following areas: 

    • Identification and inference of rules and principles
    • Application of the rules and principles
    • Consequences of the changes in the rules and principles

    CLAT Syllabus for Logical Reasoning

    The CLAT section of Logical Reasoning is designed to test the candidates Reasoning ability. This section will consist of a few questions of around 300 words each. The questions asked in the passage will test your knowledge in the following areas: 

    • Arguments: Recognition, Premise and Conclusion. 
    • Critical Analysis: Ability to understand and critically evaluate reasons, conclusions and premise or evidence. 
    • Inference: Identification and Application. 
    • Identification: of Relationships, Analogies, contradictions and equivalence.

    This section of CLAT UG will consist of around 20 questions. The questions may be in the form of graphs, propositions, facts, or numericals in textual or pictorial format. The questions will be 10th standard level. This section may consist of questions that tests your knowledge in the following areas:

    CLAT 2021 LLM Syllabus and Preparation Books

    PG CLAT 2021 will primarily test your knowledge in legal comprehension. The exam will be in two sections, Objective and Descriptive. The objective section will consist of around 100 questions in the MCQ format. The descriptive section will have 2 descriptive type questions for which you will have to write 800 word essays.

    Ans. The Exam Pattern and Syllabus of CLAT 2020 was different because of COVID-19 restrictions. The exam was held online and to prevent contraction the exam was moved online and the total marks was reduced.

    Q3. Will there be any difficulty in preparing for CLAT UG if I am a science student? 

    Ans. No, you will not face any difficulty in preparing for CLAT UG if you are a science student. The exam tests your ability to study law as opposed to your knowledge of the law. 

    Q4. Which is the most important section for CLAT UG?

    Ans. The most important section of CLAT UG is often considered to be the General Knowledge Section. It has a lot of weightage(50 marks) and if you are prepared enough you can score very well in this section. 

    Q5. What is the best way to prepare for CLAT?

    Ans. The most efficient way to prepare for CLAT 2021 is to practise regularly. Solve mock tests frequently. This will build your confidence and improve your timing as well.
