    Academic Options after B.Tech

    After this undergraduate course, students can apply for M.Tech Agricultural Engineering and also Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineer. Students can also opt for specialization within the fields of Agriculture in Agricultural Engineering when applying for M.Tech or Ph.D. course.

    Admission to M.Tech is also through an Entrance Examination. Some colleges/ institutes like Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and Indian Agricultural Research Institute also take an Entrance Examination for Ph.D. program.

    How to Get Admission in Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Agricultural Engineering)

    Mode of Entrance

    Top entrance examinations for B.Tech AE are as follows:

    ICAR AIEEA: The Indian Council of Agricultural Research conducts an All India Entrance Examination. The applications are made available online in the month of January.

    OUAT CET: Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology Common Entrance Test’s application forms are available in the month of April.

    EAMCET: Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test application forms are available in month of May.

    Entrance Test

     The entrance examinations have negative marking of 0 to 1 mark.

    The number of questions ranges from 150 to 200. The time allotted for the exam is 3 hours.

    The syllabus for the entrance exam is best described as follows:

    • Selection Process

    The selection process varies in two ways from college to college either by accepting the candidate’s admission solely on the Entrance Examination Score

    and/or

    Declaring a merit list based on candidate’s performance in Entrance Exam as well as their qualifying score.

    Lateral Entry

    The Lateral Entry which means entrance into second year of the course is also available in colleges like Adhiyaaman College of Engineering, ABES Engineering College etc.

    The eligibility for lateral entry is 10th+ 3yr Diploma in Engineering/Technology or BSc in any stream with subjects such as Mathematics.
