Metallurgy is the process of extracting pure metal from its ore for domestic and commercial purposes.

Crushing/ Grinding → Purification of Ore → Roasting/ Calcination → Reduction → Refining of Metal

The various methods of concentration of ore includes:

Calcination: Process of converting carbonate ores into metal oxides.

Roasting: Process of converting sulphide ores into metal oxides.

Reduction: It is the process of removing the oxygen of metal oxides to extract metal.
