CAT is the most popular MBA exam in India and it is through cracking CAT that you get admission into IIMs. But CAT is not the only MBA entrance exam, there are other MBA entrance tests too which can get you admission into colleges like XLRI Jamshedpur, NMIMS Mumbai and SIBM Pune. So not being able to crack CAT is not the end of the world. Let’s have a look at these various MBA entrance exams.

GMAT 

GMAT or Graduate Management Admission Test is the flagship MBA entrance test worldwide. GMAT scores are accepted by top colleges worldwide like the Stanford business school. Even in India the no.1 MBA institute, ISB Hyderabad only accepts GMAT and GRE scores. IIMs also consider GRE/GMAT scores for their EMBA program.

GMAT can be given both online and at a test-centre. To give it online you have to pay $300 and at a test-centre it is $275. It is a computer adaptive test assessing candidates' analytical, quantitative, verbal, and writing skills.

GRE

GRE i.e Graduate Record Examinations is another globally held examination that was initially designed for graduate programs, but increasingly many B-Schools in India and abroad have been accepting GRE scores. Like GMAT, GRE can also be given both online and offline. GRE fees in India is $228 or Rs.18,857. 

GRE exam pattern consists of verbal reasoning (two sections) of 20 questions per section in 30 minutes each and Quantitative Reasoning (two sections) of 20 questions per section in 35 minutes each.

XAT

XAT or Xavier Aptitude Test is conducted by XLRI for its admission in XLRI Jamshedpur and Delhi for its MBA/PGDM program, but other colleges like XIMB, IMT, Great Lakes and GIM also accept XAT scores. XAT paper consists of three sections: Verbal Ability, Decision Making and Quantitative Ability and Data interpretation. In part 2 there is also GK test and essay writing test.

IIFT

IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade) conducts its own entrance exam for its MBA in International Business Program. 

NMAT

(Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies Management Aptitude Test) which is conducted by GMAC is the aptitude test to get into NMIMS Mumbai. The special thing about NMAT is that it allows candidates to take the exam multiple times and choose their best score.

SNAP

SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude Test) is organised by the Symbiosis International University for admission into the esteemed Symbiosis institutes like SIBM Pune, SCMHRD Pune and others. It assesses candidates' aptitude in general English, quantitative, analytical, and logical reasoning. It is a one-hour examination and is comparatively easier to CAT.

TISSNET

TISSNET MBA, conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), is a computer-based entrance test for admission to the MBA program offered by TISS. It consists of three sections: English Proficiency, General Awareness, and Mathematics and Logical Reasoning.

CMAT

CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) is a national level entrance examination for admission to management programs in India. Some of the top MBA colleges accepting CMAT scores include GIM Goa, K J Somaiya, Great Lakes, IMT Nagpur, BIMTECH, and JIMS, among others. The syllabus of CMAT is similar to other MBA entrance exams.

MAT

MAT is another examination for MBA admissions, MAT scores are accepted by many B-schools across India like BIMTECH Noida, Amrita School of Business and others.

MICAT

MICAT refers to the MICA Admission Test, which is an entrance examination conducted by MICA (Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad) for admission to its Post Graduate Diploma in Management - Communications (PGDM-C) program.MICA is a renowned institute in India known for marketing and could be a popular option among marketing enthusiasts.
