The Third Level Summary
This lesson- The Third Level can be counted as a psychological story about a boy named- Charlie. The author, Jack Fenney very craftily portrayed the contrast between fantasy the reality.
- As Charlie loses his way, he somehow reached the third level of the Grand Central Station. But there is a twist at this point, as the third level does not exist in reality.
- Charlie described his version of the Third Level to his psychiatrist friend Sam, as he believed that he somehow time traveled and ended up at that place before the World War Era.
- In this state of mind, Charlie wasted a lot of money just due to the illusion he was having.
- Charlie’s wife and the psychiatrist friend Sam tried to convince him that he was hallucinating only, and this can happen to anyone who subconsciously wants to focus away from the war in reality.
- But at the end, when Chalie’s obsession with the third level had subsided a bit, he got a letter from Sam. Sam had been missing for some days, and in the letter to Charlie, he had written that he had finally found the Third Level and asked Charlie and her wife never to stop looking for it.
