Potassium Nitrate is formed by fractional crystallization of Potassium Chloride and Sodium Nitrate. It is identified as a white solid crystal form substance sometimes colourless which is soluble in water. The chemical formula of Potassium Nitrate is KNO3. It is also known as saltpeter and comes out as Potassium salt from niter rocks or Nitric Acid. When Potassium Nitrate is heated it breaks down to form Nitrogen and Oxygen. The odour of it can cause severe irritation to the nose and throat causing coughing and difficulty to breathe properly but it is considered a safe salt.
