How to prepare for BE Computer Science exams?

BE Computer Science entrance exams mainly consist of questions from subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Some of them may also contain questions from English and GK as well.

The entrance examinations mostly have MCQ based questions and numeric type questions. The duration of most of the entrance tests will be 3 hours. Students can follow below-mentioned points to prepare for these exams-

  • It is always advised to start with the easiest subject in these exams. It is important to build your confidence in the initial stages.
  • Students should give equal importance to each and every section while preparing for the exam.
  • The students may maintain a separate notebook where all the important formulas and points are noted down for a quick revision.
  • Students should make sure that they are well versed with tricky chapters in Physics. Most of the difficult questions are generally asked from chapters like mechanics, optics, etc.
  • While preparing for the organic reactions, more emphasis should be given on the mechanism of the reaction. Most of the questions are asked from reaction mechanisms only.
  • Aspirants should write at least 10-15 mock tests before writing the actual examination.

Important Books to prepare for the entrance exam

The below-mentioned books often prove to be helpful in the preparation process for these entrance exams:

  • NCERT Text Books

Ques. Which is better, a B.Tech. in CSE from MANIT Bhopal or from BIT Mesra?

● Top Answer By Aaditya Hari Nair on 15 Apr 21

Ans. Both of these two colleges are tier-1 colleges. You can’t go wrong with either of them. One of my relatives who used to be a student of MANIT Bhopal speaks highly of the institution. According to her, you should prefer MANIT Bhopal to any other institution any day including BIT Mesra too. Don’t take an educational loan to go to BIT Mesra, if you are getting MANIT Bhopal CSE. You can easily get an income-based scholarship at MANIT Bhopal.  At MANIT placement percentage as well as the highest package, both are pretty high. At MANIT Bhopal, the placement percentage goes as high as 98% and the highest package offered this year was around 42 LPA.  Hance, MANIT Bhopal is definitely is a better alternative.Read more

Ques. How is Computer Science Engineering at MANIT, Bhopal and what are the prospects if you are really a hard worker?

● Top Answer By Kanu Priya on 23 Mar 21

Ans. CSE is undoubtedly a better branch at MANIT. When it comes to academics, it is pretty much the same as all the other NITs. Therefore, if you want to learn something here, you are on your own. Category MANIT BHOPAL Ranking #65 by NIRF Total Fee 5.59 lakhs Companies Visited Amazon, Reliance, Honda, TCS, etc. Highest Package 20 lakhs Over the previous two years, firms are beginning to recognise MANIT. This year, approximately 75% of the people have got placement offers and the average for the same is close to 7. Giant firms like Microsoft, Google, Epic Systems visit the campus, so if you work hard as a student, you might have bright prospects. When it comes to CGPA, students are advised not to get caught up in that. Students would not have to score a 9. An 8 or a 7 also works. All you need to know is algorithms. Instead of mugging up some random piece of text to get good grades, you should invest their time in competitive programming.Read more

Ques. Which is better for CSE: NIT Agartala, NIT Silchar, IIIT Kota, or IIIT Kalyani?

● Top Answer By Karishma Khatri on 23 Mar 21

Ans. Among the colleges present in the lot, I would advise you to choose NIT Silchar over NIT Agartala. I have a few friends at the institute and I have heard good things about the institute. Here are a few of the reasons why NIT Silchar is a better alternative.  IIIT Kota and IIIT Kalyani are pretty new and hence these are generally not the first choice. NIT Silchar provides some extraordinary facilities like a supercomputing center and exchange programs with the University of Illinois. For those who are interested in Computer networks, parallel algorithms, etc, and want to pursue their career in these fields, supercomputing provides a very good foundation to get into these fields during the undergraduate coursework. The above reasons should be enough to choose NIT Silchar. Read more

Ans. I know some of the people from both institutes. Based on what I heard from them, IIIT Bhopal is better than IIIT Ranchi.  A few of the reasons to choose IIIT Bhopal are as follows.  Mentor Institute: IIIT Bhopal is mentored by NIT Bhopal and classes are held inside the campus of NIT Bhopal itself. So you will have access to all the experienced faculty and facilities you would have got if you were in NIT. Being in NIT, you can participate in all the national-level competitions. Location: The location of IIIT Bhopal is great. It is located in the peaceful city of Bhopal. It has less traffic and the college is close to both the airport and railway station. Hostel: Hostels for the first are at RGPV University, which is the head university of all the engineering colleges in the state. It has a huge campus with modern facilities. Buses are provided from hostel to college and that too free of cost. Food: The quality of food at the canteen is not so good. Academics: Academics facilities are great and you have to work hard to stay in sync with the syllabus. The course-work will be quite hectic in the first year and you would be given 30,50 or sometimes even 100 questions as an assignment. You will learn C-Programming, HTML, CSS, latex, etc.  You can also check the latest ranking of the institute to compare. The final decision is yours. Read more

Ques. Which one is better, doing CSE at NIT Calicut or NIT Jaipur?

● Top Answer By Kirti Goyal on 23 Mar 21

Ans. The list should be something like this, and this is not a fixed one; it may vary year by year. NIT Trichy>NIT Surathkal>NIT Warangal>MNNIT Allahabad>MNIT Jaipur /NIT Calicut>SVNIT Surat / NIT Nagpur>MANIT Bhopal / NIT Kurukshetra / NIT Rourkela>NIT Durgapur / NIT Jamshedpur>NIT Jalandhar/ NIT Delhi>NIT Raipur/ NIT Hamirpur. I would like to suggest MNIT Jaipur.  CSE at MNIT Jaipur is one of the finest when compared with all the NITs. The faculty is good and the facilities are amazing, in terms of labs, connectivity, etc. One can really expect steeper increases in placements and their packages in the coming years. It is great in terms of crowd diversity. Now let us take a look at NIT Calicut: NIT Calicut is the better-ranked college when it comes to NITs. It is better reputed when it comes to classroom teaching and academic details. Extra-Curricular activities are also encouraged a lot. There’s ample free time to engage in clubs. Coming to CSE, the placements of Calicut are much better than NIT Jaipur as well. Categories NIT Calicut MNIT Jaipur Course Fee 5.42 lakh 6.56 lakh Placement Percentage 73.5% 73.22% Highest CTC 18 LPA 20 LPA Average CTC 5 LPA 8 LPA Recruiting Companies Qualcomm Technologies, HCL, Accenture, Goldman Sachs etc. Analog Devices, Qualcomm, Xilinx, Texas, etc.  CSE at MNIT Jaipur is a much better option than any core branch in the top 3 NITs - especially if your career plans are job-oriented and you want to work comfortably at least a few years right after you graduate. The strength of any institute comes from its very own students. Students achieve and the institute flourishes. Students do their best and the institute counts. So choice is yours. Take your time and make your decision on the basis of your instinct and where and how you see yourself in upcoming life.Read more
