Chandalika Summary
Chandalika portrays strong female characters. The central character of this drama is a woman named Prakriti. The other important characters include Ananda- a monk and Prakriti’s mother.
- The drama opens with the protagonist- Prakriti.
- Prakriti is busy with her daily chores when Ananda- the Buddhist Monk enters and asks for some water.
- Prakriti mentioned that she belongs to the lower caste hence, she can not give the monk water.
- The monk explained all human beings are the same, and it does not matter if she belongs to the lower caste. The caste system is made by human society only.
- Prakriti falls in love with the monk and requests her mother to bring back the monk in her life with the help of magic.
- Though her mother denied it at first, she eventually gave up and called upon the monk back by magic.
- But when the monk came back he was not into himself due to the magic tricks.
- That makes Prakriti understand that if she loves someone, she has to set them free and can not hold them back with any tricks. Hence, she apologizes to Ananda.
