In this selected part of the book, Amartya Sen discussed the argumentative quality of Indian people with references to ancient Indian history and the present socio-political ambience. This text is divided into a few subheadings.
- In the beginning, the author took the references from the great Indian mythological epic Mahabharata.
- He discussed how Lord Krisha and Arjuna communicated with each other by referring to the Bhagavad Gita.
- According to the author, these elements have also affected European literature.
- In the next segment, Amartya Sen mentioned that though Indian society is still male-dominated, there are strong women in Indian history who keep raising some important issues and questions.
- In this part, he again brings the references from Veda.
